I love these types of places! I was not planning to order food but I went in to get an iced tea and the friendly woman at the counter changed my mind. I got the Cubano sandwich (listed as a special). It was on a pressed/toasted sub roll and had ham, cheese, pulled pork bbq, spicy mustard, and pickles. It came with extra pickles and a bag of chips. I really liked the bbq and would definitely eat here again. Don’t be fooled by the appearance. It looked a bit closed down/empty and had very few customers. I figured even if the food wasn’t great and I like supporting local and unique spots. So I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor. There’s seating inside and some tables outside. They have a variety of coffee drinks and also serve ice cream. There aren’t really any souvenirs- just a few local jams or honey I think and some bags of chips. I do wish they offered more local products for sale, like some art or jewelry would be perfect. Oh, I saw a mother bear and a cub crossing the road nearby so it’s also a pretty drive around the cafe but definitely be on the lookout for wildlife!

This place is absolutely gorgeous! If you ever decide to sell, I’d love to snatch it right up. What a treasure you have❤️ We enjoyed the food but the atmosphere was even better!

Do not pass without stopping here! The food, service and atmosphere are all excellent. We have a large family, the food came out quickly and was delicious. Especially the Cuban & Barbecue sandwiches. Their ice cream was also refreshing and yummy! 5 stars!

Over the last few years, I know that we drove or rode by several times and the reason I believe that we never stopped was that the impression was the place is not open. The reason why is the huge but very old sign right at Highway 11 in front of the building makes it look like they are closed. To the business owner : maybe it would help if you would have an open sign right at the road and maybe even give potential customers a heads up a mile down the road in each direction saying that your place is coming up and it is open because otherwise like what we did for years people drive by see your place in the last second and the first impression is you are not open. I do know from the experience we had today that you have an open sign on the actual building but again if people drive by on highway 11 with 45 or 55 miles they do not have a chance to see this sign. This was just the introduction lol. Anyhow. So we did stop today and there's plenty of parking in the front. This is truly a little gem when you take a minute to look at the building from the outside and when you walk inside, you will get that impression even more. There's ample seating outside and also downstairs inside and there's also seating upstairs. Since it was already after lunch, we decided to just try the pumpkin cake and a frozen coffee. Everything was great and very reasonable priced. We were sitting in one of these adorable booths that all have different Looks and configurations. See pictures. This is true country wood craftsmanship. Service was super friendly too. The location is top-notch because there is not a whole lot close to it. They also have ice cream and barbecue style food items that we didn't have a chance to try this time.

This place is so cute and unique! The tables are adorable with cute little paintings! The food was SO GOOD! I got pulled pork tacos and my partner got the cubano! The mango peach refresher is delicious. There is also a friendly black cat wondering around outside, what more could you want? 10/10 would recommend

Google
I want to score this a 5 because it is a sweet place and has so much potential. The food was fresh & delicious (small rotating menu). The building is quaint and has SO much potential. The owners, who built the place, were on-site working and were pleasant. From speaking with them, it sounds like this was something to behold in the past. It makes me feel a little sad to have missed what it once was.

This is a great place to stop for some ice cream! We had the waffle cone with pumpkin spice latte ice cream and it was delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the large porch outside with lots of seating. We were there during the daytime but I am sure at night it is nice with all the string lights on the porch. Prices were very good for the quality of ice cream. The property also has a life size pumpkin out by the road that you can walk in to take pictures. They do have food options and coffee drinks as well.

Yelp
Pumpkintown Mountain Opry is a large structure that captures your attention and cannot be missed as you drive by. I'm not quite sure if the location is fully functional, because it seems empty from the outside, but the restaurant part of it is functional. I tried it out because I was curious, and my experience was good. When you walk in, it feels like a family owned and ran business, and guess what? It is! The young lady informed me that her grandfather owns. You can walk around and check out the variety of snacks, goodies and local souvenirs for purchase. I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, beans, and a bag of chips. It was delicious. The only suggestion I would make is to work on the landscaping and curb appeal. I wonder if they have ever use the entire structure. When I visited, the restaurant part was the only thing that was open.

Yelp
Excellent customer service! This place is as unique as it looks! We grabbed a pulled pork sandwich that had the best sauce served on the side, a cute black bear stuffed animal for $15 and I had to try the 'Carmen's iced coffee' since it's my name and all . I really enjoyed it! This place is 100% appropriate for the area!

Yelp
The cutest spot with the best BBQ and friendliest people. Absolutely worth the time to stop in!

Yelp
We've driven by this place for decades and never stopped in. It never looked too inviting from the outside. Looked more like a tourist trap. After hiking at Table Rock, we decided to pop in and have some ice cream. I was actually somewhat impressed. Very good ice cream. Other people seemed to enjoy their food orders. So, if you've never checked the place out, it's probably worth a stop.

Yelp
Great small town feel, with warm atmosphere. Service was great, quick and cheap. Read earlier that the coleslaw was something to try and I have to agree. Coleslaw was fresh and wasn't overwhelming on the sauces. Will need to pass by again to try the Cuban Sandwich but as for the pulled pork sandwich and the chicken croissant they were delicious. If you like local products they have a little assortment of honey, chips, sauces, and Jelly/Jams to choose from. Definitely a good stop on the way to or from the mountain ranges.

Yelp
If you get a chance to swing in for a quick lunch, definitely do! Awesome sandwiches! I had the Cubano and it was perfectly crispy, tasty pulled pork and the sauce was also very good! When I'm back in town I will definitely swing in! Staff were all very polite and welcoming, great service !

Yelp
I will be thinking about this homemade coleslaw for a very long time. Not a single complaint about the food or service here. The Mac n cheese has breadcrumbs on it and you can tell everything is freshly made daily. The pulled pork melts in your mouth and served on a toasted bun. It's little details like the unique coleslaw & toasted buns that make this place something to rave about. I will be back every time I'm in this area.

Yelp
In a small town like Pumpkintown, the focal points of the town are the General Store with its hamburgers and the Opry with its little cafe. During December, they have specialty lattes like the Candy Cane Latte and Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Most if the Opry isn't functioning, just the little cafe. They have cozy little nooks to eat and drink in, with extra country decor and comfort. They have started serving food, including the advertised Reubens and BBQ. I haven't tried either, so that might be saved for another visit. The lady who was working solo was super sweet and kind, making our visit enjoyable. I hope they continue to stay in business!

Yelp
Great BBQ sandwiches at a good price. Owners really went above and beyond to make us happy. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
We stopped by for dinner after an afternoon at Long Shoals Wayside Park. We had a great experience. The employees were all SO friendly and the food was great- we had the chicken salad croissant and the pulled pork. Afterwards, we had ice cream. Wonderful atmosphere!

Yelp
We went a very long way home from Gatlinburg, TN (missing the I-40 and I-26 highways. So as we were heading home we stopped in (never been there before) and ordered lunch. It was delicious, and the best BBQ my husband has ever had. We will be back soon, and bringing my in-laws with us. The staff was also, very nice. Also, the Ice Cream was very tasty. You should definitely try this place out!

Yelp
We enjoyed our lunch! Husband had the BBQ sandwich, I had the egg salad sandwich we both enjoyed our meals. Cute place for a quick lunch while in the area. The staff was so nice! We thought about ice cream for dessert but we we're stuffed! Next time though!

Yelp
For about 20 years now, we've driven by this place and said "we should stop there sometime". Well, today was finally the day. The inside is cute, and the ice cream is good. I suppose we'll have to come back here for lunch sometime.

Yelp
My Husband and I had an amazing lunch with the folks at the Pumpkintown Mountain Opry today. Such a charming place to sit and enjoy a nice lunch. The coleslaw was AMAZING!!!! I also enjoyed a tall Mocha Latte! The little gift shop was so cute too.
