"Walk Along the Pancake Rocks in Punakaiki Along the wild west coast of New Zealand , you will find many curious rock formations and interesting coastlines. Near Punakaiki and a rainforest are the famous Pancake Rocks, a limestone formation that has formed lined pillar-like rocks along the sea. When the tide goes in and out, it can shoot water through the tunnels and holes, creating massive blowholes visible to tourists. Usually just a quick stop between the southwest and northwest coast, Punakaiki has many great walks and hikes among its forests, along with kayaking, surfing, and rugged beaches to explore—perfect for anyone looking to get off the beaten path in New Zealand."
Very cute place. Food was great and staff was friendly. My only comment would be that the staff should bring us our food. We had to get it ourselves.

Yelp
Decent food with an interesting interior (the roof is filled with stapled currency from around the world). Large portions and relatively busy with tourists, but okay food.

Yelp
There are only a couple places to eat in Punakaiki. This place is very informal - order at the bar and hope they remember who you are. The outside tables are quite dirty. They were out of salmon but had no sign posted. Bangers and mash was terrible. Fish and chips was pretty good. We were overcharged when we went to pay (also pay at the bar) -- which was very bothersome. Ask for an itemized receipt and calculate your total before you pay so they don't pad the bill. It's unfortunate that there are so few places to eat in Punakaiki -- next time we won't bother with the Tavern.

Yelp
This pub was comfortable and they had a fire going, which was nice on a winter day. Good beer selection and basic snacks.
