9 unique cafés in Singapore that will make you feel like you're overseas - SilverKris

"A bright Aussie-inspired café on North Canal Road that channels Melbourne laneway vibes with an outdoor courtyard, green plant wall and wooden bench seating. Breakfast staples include a classic Poached Eggs with Avocado on seeded toast served with a lemon wedge, while the triple-stack Earl Grey Pancakes arrive with poached pear and a crunchy white chocolate macadamia crumble. Coffee options range from espresso-based drinks and single-origin filter brews to two house specials: the Generra (a warming orange mocha) and the crowd-favourite Wicked (a minty mocha)." - Rachel Eva Lim

Overall a satisfying lunch here in a cafe that has its own character, vibe and decor. An open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant is always pleasing. The outdoor seating at the back gives a total different vibe to the modern dining concept inside. The menu is mainly cafe food with some emphasis to burgers, sandwiches and pasta. Ordered the kani ebi laksa burger and was pleasantly surprised. The prawn patty has a light crisp and the overall taste blended well with the brioche bun (from burnt ends). Also ordered their signature tiramisu. I'm a sucker for a good tiramisu and this one passed the test. Moist bottom but not overly wet. Creamy on the top but not over done. Must order if you ask me.

Cute cozy cafe near Clarke Quay. Minimalist decor, courteous staff and delicious food. They have a huge variety of coffee. We loved the Mint Mocha. Many vegetarian options in menu and they can customise also. The French toast, pancake and Potato roasti were the highlights. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well. Highly recommend, will be coming back for sure.

Punch is a beautiful and atmospheric place, and the food is presented very nicely. The café has a lovely ambience and the dishes look impressive, with a lot of attention to detail. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the overall experience is still enjoyable. The service felt slightly reserved during our visit, even though the café was not very busy at the time. It would have been nice to feel a bit more welcomed, but the setting itself is very pleasant and relaxing. It is a charming spot for a quiet meal or coffee, especially if you appreciate good presentation and a cozy aesthetic.

Food is on point as usual but would be perfect if the brownie is served warm with the ice cream. Like to shout out on the great service by Joen. My daughter loves her attitude and has been particularly polite. Thank you Joen!

Went for Sat brunch, we were lucky there wasn’t a queue. Coffee was good. Food was ok, room for improvement. I had the chicken salad, it was $20 but the pieces of chicken were ridiculously little. I have to say it tasted good though, but come on.. $20 bucks for a few pieces of dice chicken breast is not exactly acceptable. People choose this meal for more protein… but the amount of chicken. Doesn’t even look like it’s 50g of chicken in there unfortunately.

We were looking for a cozy nice breakfast place which is dog friendly. Luckily, we are at the right restaurant. We enjoyed the rostti, sausage and spinach. This combo is simple yet super yummy. The early grey pancake is also good. But would be better if it can be less dry. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come back again!

Really good place for breakfast and lunch! The cafe late is really tasty and the salad was delicious. It’s a little bit loud inside but you can sit outside for a little more quiet area. Overall a great experience!

Beautiful little cafe on new bridge road. The Bircher muesli was well balanced and the coffee was exquisite. My wife had the poached eggs with avocado and she loved it

Yelp
This was an unexpected find, was planning to go to another bookmarked brunch place, but they didn't have as many egg options as i wanted. So found this place close to our place with decent reviews and went to check it out. Reached at noon (bad time to go for brunch on a weekend) and the place was packed to the seams. Had to wait 30 mins for a table, but the waft of food coming from inside was delicious. The wait was worth it. I got the weekender breakfast - smoked salmon over thick toast with roe and two large perfectly poached eggs. Hit the spot! Wife got the smashed avocado with sourdough which was excellent and they certainly don't skimp on the avocado like certain other places. The cappuccino and tea latte we got were exceptional as well. But the star of the day was the tiramisu, hell, I'll come back just for that. One of the few places in Singapore that I'll be returning to for sure.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Hip, but not pretentious with excellent service and great coffee. The pineapple smoothy was divine. The food was also very good. We had the French toast, the fruit salad, and the avocado toast with poached eggs. Can't wait to go there on a weekend and have the weekend-only specials.

Yelp
Very cool off coffee/breakfast shop near Clarke Quay. The coffee artwork is precision done and everything was very tasty. The general place has a relaxed vibe that lets you melt in and enjoy.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous little spot. The staff are lovely, coffee perfect and food thoughtfully made and presented. It was so good we went twice in one day. First for brunch, I had already eaten so just had a soya chai and the must delicious cookie. My husband had the smashed avocado with poached eggs and grilled lemon on toast which looked and tasted great. We then returned for a very early dinner just before they closed at 6pm because we wanted to try the prawn and scallop pasta. It was worth it. The herbs and garlic in the sauce were perfectly balanced and the seafood cooked with the nice crispy crust, only available on week days. Punch runs like an engine with every staff member knowing their function but also able to fill in any gaps that appear. There are many other items on the menu to try and I hope we get time to go back before we take off.

Yelp
We visited the sister cafe of Ronin and The Plain on a Saturday afternoon. If not for the fact that my friend is a frequent visitor, I won't have been able to find the place due to the lack of visible signage. We shared the coffee, poached eggs with avocado, poached eggs with salmon and earl grey pancakes amongst the two of us. Food was unexpectedly delicious! Being an avocado fan, I was more than pleased to see a generous serving of avocado on my sourdough toast. It was a pity the toast was too hard. The brioche that came with the salmon was perfect, thankfully, and felt very Japanese with the ikura. Servings were satisfying for the eggs but the pancakes were on the smaller side, which may not suffice for big eaters. It reminded me of McDonalds hotcakes in looks but more delectable. The coffee was decent but a little sour for my liking. I will definitely be back for the food.

Yelp
Latte was high quality/upper tier. Pancakes were delicious and egg/avo/toast thing was really good! outdoor seating in back was really quiet/private.

Yelp
Compared to Ronin, the decor of Punch is not as cosy. Though it is tastefully done, there was something quite clinical/impersonal about the space, which wouldn't make it a top choice for me (perhaps it was the slight aloofness of the hipster staff, but I wouldn't hold it against them, it's just a personal preference.) Though note that half the space is set up almost as if catered for the lone customer who wants to get some reading and work done, which is great. I had the chai latte (I know, in a coffee establishment?!). Although they apparently brew it (not from some teabag), it was a lacklustre chai latte. :( A bit diluted, not rich, spicy and milky the way I like it. My friend and I also shared the earl grey pancakes, which was not bad, the roasted macademias and crumble on the side was a nice touch, but I wish the earl grey was a bit stronger. Pancake texture was so-so (erm yes, similar to Macdonald's hotcakes). I really wanted to like the place, but I think I'd stick with Ronin.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great on a Sunday morning, with a bustling and happy crowd. The food is fresh and tasty, and the serving portion on the The Weekender Egg is very generous. The Long Black has excellent flavour. The service staff are very attentive and polite. And they have Apple Pay !

Yelp
Beware! First, the cafe is very nicely presented. Modern minimalist. However it went downhill from there. 1. A lad came over and placed a knife and fork for each of us which was a nice touch, but what he didn't realise was that the knife was filthy! It had dried egg yolk from a previous customer crusted on it in plain view! How can a customer be confident that the food is prepared with appropriate cleanliness and hygiene if your utensils have dried egg from the last customer still on them! 2. The food portions are tiny - you get one slice of bread - cut in half! If you want extra mushrooms on the side $5 - more than a third of the price of the dish itself! 3. They tried to overcharge us for our bill. We ordered 2x avocado with poach eggs and 1x piccolo latte. This should have come to $32 but the bill came to $34. I challenged them on it and cashier guy just said oh we changed the price today and left it there as if that was it. I stared at him and it was only then did he then proceeded to give me a $2 refund off off the inflated bill. Beware! Other than that experience, the food was nicely presented and tasted ok. There are better options elsewhere.

Yelp
I tried the Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl which was yummy. The pineapple slushie was refreshing with just the right minty taste. We tried the antioxidant fruit salad which was rather fancy. The most interesting taste in the salad would be the rosewater infused Greek yogurt. We sat outdoors which was really nice and away from the crowd. Love the lush greenery that makes the place look like an oasis in the busy city. They served a small bowl of chicken soup after I'm done with my poke to supposedly cleanse my palate. Rather gimmicky but I appreciate how they make this a part of the whole dining experience.
