Pur Oporto Boutique Hotel (Porto, Norte) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Another in a long, long list of impressive Portuguese boutique hotels is Pur Oporto, a colorful little gem mere minutes from the city center. Its primary aesthetic inspiration is azulejo, the tilework for which the region is famous; as a decorative element tile is present in varying guises all throughout the hotel. Sky blue is the dominant tone, lending the rooms a soothing softness; some of the rooms (and all of the suites) come with outdoor terrace space. In classic European boutique-hotel style it lacks a full-service restaurant of its own; in this area its relatively central location fills the gap." - Tablet Hotels

This is a lovely and pleasant place to stay, offering good value overall. The location is relatively good for exploring the city, though guests should know that the walk back from the center involves a small uphill climb before reaching the hotel. A small drawback is the amenities: there was no kettle in the room. However, the outstanding staff immediately resolved this issue by preparing hot tea for us at the lobby cafeteria, showcasing their helpfulness. Logistics to Note: Parking is inconvenient. While paid parking is available nearby, there is no easy, quick stop area for loading or unloading luggage. The fantastic team truly made the experience positive, compensating well for these minor issues.

We enjoyed this hotel very much. The location is near enough to the action of Porto without being in the center of it. The room we had was very comfortable and clean. The hotel staff is super accommodating. We enjoyed the breakfasts.||One thing to be aware of is that the building adjacent to this hotel is under renovations. At the time of our visit, no work was being done and, according to one staff member, work hasn't been done since mid-summer. That being the case, work could resume at any time. Had there been activity next door, we would've been greatly impacted by the noise. So maybe ask about that when you book this hotel.||Again, our visit was fantastic! Especially loved the cookies that were put out some evenings :)

The hotel was smart and modern with welcoming staff on arrival. It was a long walk 25/30 mins to the waterfront and definitely a taxi ride back for us as it was all uphill and we're not so young any more!! Rooms were modern with very comfy bed & pillows. Unfortunately the breakfast was disappointing with not much choice and the space was really too cramped for people sitting so close together. Hope the management sort this out..

I manage a team of people in Porto therefore I visit there very often. This is my first time staying this particular hotel and I will never stay here again. ||As a solo business traveler the people in hotels or restaurants are ‘what makes it’ a lot of the time. A friendly hello/goodbye/nice to see you, little touches. I have never stayed at a hotel where the staff were so unfriendly and I honestly don’t think I saw a single person smile my entire week stay. The only person to do so when I happened to them one single time was a house keeper who was absolutely lovely and the rest of your front of house staff could learn a lot from her. “Hi how are you, enjoying your time here in Porto. Hope you’ve a great day”. ||One evening I decided to eat at the hotel, menu wasn’t amazing but I went with it. Was stared at like I was putting him massively out of his way to make me a pizza. You would think the hotel would want the income considering I seen minimal people sitting in the restaurant area during my week stay. The pizza was made and it had the wrong toppings on it.||Went for breakfast on my first morning, looked the part from afar however the hot food was not hot and the egg was massively over cooked and not edible. Again staff totally unpleasant and based on my experience at other hotels €14 is overpriced. You should also consider a cold milk offering||I rang down on another day to ask if it was possible to arrange a small breakfast to takeaway for my work days as the fridge in the room is not a proper fridge to enable me to buy items at a supermarket myself. I was met with a sigh by the female who had a terrible attitude. Found myself being over pleasant, like I had done something wrong. I was told I had to come down to reception to fill in a form. I asked would it be possible for her to do this for me as I was already in bed. I’d also note that the television this guidance says there should be a form in the room, there wasn’t. She agreed to fill in the form, she asked what I’d like. I said. Two plain yogurts, honey sachet, a banana and a croissant. Was met with “you can’t pick your own fruit. I then said ok just whatever you have then. Next I was asked at what time I’d like to collect it, I said it would be around 0715am, I was met with “we can’t do breakfast takeaway at this time as breakfast is available from 7. Argued with me and I ended up telling her to forget about it. Another loss of income for the hotel for 5 consecutive days.||Noise - There is a massive sound issue in this hotel. You can literally hear conversations people are having from adjoining room or above and their televisions, every walk on the floor, furniture being moved around and people walking by your room to theirs. I tried to be in bed around 10pm every night as I had to be in work by 0730am the next day, every night here I was unable to get to slept until after 2am, the pipe work is very loud. I’d encourage management to stand in this round after 9pm and listen to how loud the pipe work is, running taps and flushing of toilets. When the toilets are flushed from above you would think the pipes are ready to fall apart. So loud that when I finally did get over to sleep I was startled out of my sleep every time someone got up to use the bathroom. I also purchased wax earplugs to try and help with sleep, helped a little but sadly not. ||Cleanliness - the room for the most part was clean however the bizarre panelling behind the behind which I presume is meant to be the headboard is impractical and was covered in dust. Which I ended up cleaning myself. I also arrived back one day to find clumps of hair in the bath, certainly not mine as in bald. Happy to provide photos. ||The room - I think using the term “boutique” is not warranted. The bed is rock hard, no useable head board, can barely open the window for fresh air, but if you do you are subjected until late evening of music playing from the outside terrace. The bath/shower has mixer taps, with the shower screen fixed it was difficult to lean across to get the right balance of hot or cold and there didn’t seem to be a steady state of this being right. I’d burnt myself a few times after fixing it and then all of a sudden it became scalding. The television services are very outdated. Not like other hotels of the same star rating in Porto where they have apps available such as Netflix etc or ability to stream your phone to it. It was like stepping back into the early 2000s. ||Overall a terrible stay, certainly not a four star hotel.

I enjoyed every day of my stay. The staff were friendly, and I felt very welcome. The breakfast was okay, though it would be better with a few more options. The room was clean, and housekeeping came every day. 👍

Gorgeous hotel! Rooms are stunning and the bed/pillows were soo comfy!! The hotel is a good location but it is all uphill from the main part of Porto, and an all uphill walk from Trindade metro (which is the closest metro)…. So bear that in mind! I was in room 307 and there was a lot of noise coming from upstairs in the evening. I assume this was due to whoever was staying in that room but it was very noisy which was quite annoying when trying to sleep after a long day. Other than that, I throughly enjoyed my stay here!

Wonderful Experience – Looking Forward to a Future Stay! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Although I wasn’t able to stay at the property this time, I had a very positive experience with the hotel. The staff was incredibly kind, responsive, and professional throughout the entire booking process. The hotel itself looks beautiful, well-maintained, and full of character. Based on the excellent service I received, I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Porto. I’m already looking forward to booking here again on my next trip!

Absolutely appalling service! Rooms were fine but on the smaller side but kept very clean. Staff could not accomodate my request despite requesting on 3 occasions that I needed 2 separate single beds and was given one queen. Staff were not willing to compensate for this. Major plumbing issues! Went to adjust the temperature of the shower and the entire hot water tap came off and so the room completely flooded. When I phoned reception to alert them they did not answer at first. They finally rang back after about 3 minutes of gushing water coming out of the wall. It then took them another 5 minutes to come up and assess the issue which by this point the hallway began to flood and other rooms were being impacted. I was then given a new room but nobody rang to check on me or see what they could do to make my stay more pleasant. No compensation provided. Was just told “I can’t do anything at the moment” and was directed to send an email to their generic inquiries email.
