Did not meet 4-star standards for me
I chose this hotel for its boutique style and excellent location rather than a large chain, and while the aesthetic is pleasant, the overall experience did not meet 4-star standards for comfort or consistency.
Check-in issues:
On arrival, my key card did not work. I was then sent to a room that had not been cleaned, followed by a room with single beds, before finally being allocated a double room. The staff were kind, apologetic, and helpful throughout this process, which I appreciated.
Room & facilities:
• Bathroom showed visible wear and staining in the bath (photos attached).
• Water temperature took a long time to adjust and fluctuated between very hot and cold.
• Toiletries were inconsistent: two shampoos provided instead of shampoo + conditioner, with conditioner only available in a very small bottle.
• No bathrobes provided.
• Walls are very thin — I could clearly hear neighbours coughing, flushing toilets, and general room noise.
Housekeeping concern:
An empty box of men’s underwear (size XXL) appeared in my room after I had already stayed two nights. It was not there when I left in the morning. While this was likely a housekeeping error, it was unsettling as a solo female traveller. Staff listened and acknowledged the issue when I raised it.
Overall:
The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, but good service alone does not compensate for the lack of comfort, cleanliness consistency, and basic amenities expected at this price point and rating.
The hotel has potential and a great location, but the standards are not what I personally look for. I would rather pay more for a true 5-star experience after this stay.
