Beautiful place — ruined by scammy behavior.
We were excited to visit this temple and had no issue paying the entrance fee — that’s totally fine. But right after paying, they told us we had to cover our legs (which is normal in Bali). What’s not normal is being asked to buy the sarong for 300,000 IDR!
After some back-and-forth, we ended up renting it for 50,000 each, just to avoid more hassle. Then they forced a guide on us — someone we never asked for, who barely explained anything and later complained that our tip “wasn’t enough.” Seriously?
What could have been a peaceful cultural visit turned into a series of petty scams. The temple itself is beautiful and worth seeing, but the management and the pushy attitude are shameful.
Tip for other travelers: pay your entrance fee, bring your own sarong, and firmly refuse any “mandatory guide” nonsense. You’ll enjoy it much more that way.
