Pura Vida Ride

I had awesome rides on a great bike. My guides, Andrey one day and Emanuel another, led me on a 2.5 hour ride that matched my skill level (intermediate) and my fitness ( off my bike for the last month or so...). I rode a Pivot FS that was in great shape and adjusted to my ride preferences. The guides both new the trails really well and could adjust as required. Start early in the day! The heat is punishing by noon!

Not the friendliest reception at this spot especially. The whole vibe at Las Catalinas is just off. Very angry and annoyed personnel in every shop and restaurant we came across it seemed. But this one had a very sarcastic lady. Maybe they profile people that don’t look rich or foreign? Not a good representation of the Costa Rican (friendly and kind) people. Very sad.

Stopped by here and rented bikes. They were helpful, friendly and we enjoyed the ride. The trails were good and had fantastic views over the ocean. It is a resort so prices reflect that but they were fair. Be aware, it is pretty warm so choose the time you ride wisely. We stopped a lot to cool off and didn’t cover anywhere near the distance we expected. Also the trails are dry and can have loose gravel compared to what we usually ride. It cut our confidence a bit. But we would do it again … but perhaps at sunrise.

Had a great tour of the mountains surrounding Catalinas with our guide from Pura Vida Ride. The bikes we rented were in great condition (they have a selection of hard-tail, double suspension, and e-bikes), and the guide was very friendly to some of the n00bs in our group. The only hiccup was with the bike rental process itself; the office staff were somewhat unresponsive the day before via Whatsapp, and a bit slow in getting us out the door the day of the ride, which meant we started later than we would've otherwise liked.

I had a similar experience as Jeanine... Def not the Pura vida vibe they have on their sign. My kid left in tears... This was strange to experience in a country otherwise well known for its hospitality.

Pura Vida Ride has amazing bikes that are always in great condition, making every ride super enjoyable. We’ve rented from them multiple times and always had a fantastic experience!

Shop was great, the staff was really friendly, the ride was great. You also had legit bikes, which helped. It felt like a hidden gem, and was so happy to be able to get out to you guys. Thank you #puravida

Really good service. Had problem with my tubless tire and Emanuelle did an awsome job. Reslly good mecanic and really good to give us info about the place.
