Me and my husband stayed at Puradies
(Deluxe Suite), for 7 nights, end of October.
What we liked:
Spacious room, nice staff, great garden and hotel position, the fact that for dinner we were placed in an area of the restaurant with adults/older children, good breakfast with great variety, sauna opening times.
What we did not like:
- it is not obvious from the website that the hotel is not suitable for couples as it is focused on families with children
- we were only able to use the pool once as it was full of small children screaming, jumping and pushing. This happened regardless of the time of the day. Also, pool is not very big.
- Poor soundproofing of the saunas, you could hear everything from the showers/hallways
- Lack of punctuality when starting the breakfast, they say it starts at 7:00, but sometimes you go there and the door is closed.. and you have to wait even 10 minutes. Lack of waitresses in the breakfast time, only one person for the entire place. This means long waiting time if you want to order anything (including extra cutlery), used plates are not picked up, just left on the tables..
- Afternoon snack is basic, almost always the same, salad is sandy and not always fresh; all the afternoon snack is centred on types of sausages, speck and cheese selection which is not that great to eat for 7 lunches in a row. The area where the food is placed is very small, there is almost always a cue and you have to wait your turn with the plate in your hand… This feels like you are eating in a cantina.. but at the price of more than 3000 eur/ week..
- Dinner is ok overall, although most of the time, nothing special. Vegan option is lacking diversity. The salad bar is not existing for dinner, there is one predefined small salad you can order. From a 7 nights stay, there was never a desert buffet for dinner, which for a 4 star Austrian hotel, is quite weird
- The toilet bowl from our room was badly broken, the ventilation in the bathroom was not working at all(!) and it was always a very bad smell inside. The mattresses were very soft, when lying in bed, the position of the body is not horizontal, the head is much higher than rest of the body which is very uncomfortable.
- Multiple other details (dinner atmosphere, tap water for dinner charged 5 euros and so on)
Overall, for us, it was a ruined vacation because it was way overpriced for what we received, on all levels. This has never happened to us before, in Austria. We had 300-800 euros cheaper offers before choosing Puradies, good hotels, where we have stayed before multiple times. The class is similar (Das Goldberg, Gut Sonnberghof), also not adults only hotels, but there is no comparison, on any level. We definitely do not recommend Puradies. The potential is there, but they are very far away for the requested prices.
