I visited Purana Qila this Sunday, and honestly, it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Delhi. Walking inside the fort instantly makes you feel connected to history—the massive walls, ancient gates, and peaceful surroundings create a completely different vibe from the busy city outside.
Purana Qila is believed to be one of the oldest forts in Delhi, with its roots linked to Indraprastha, the legendary city mentioned in the Mahabharata. Later, in the 16th century, it was rebuilt by Mughal emperor Humayun and Afghan ruler Sher Shah Suri, which is why you see a beautiful mix of architectural styles. Structures like the Qila-i-Kuhna Mosque and Sher Mandal reflect the elegance and strength of that era.
What I loved most was how calm and spacious the place felt. You can walk around freely, admire the craftsmanship, click photos, or just sit quietly and imagine how life must have been centuries ago. The greenery and the lake nearby add to the peaceful atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax and explore history at the same time.
Overall, visiting Purana Qila was a memorable and enriching experience for me. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves history, old forts, or simply wants to experience the timeless charm of Delhi.
