"This small farmers’ market takes place every Sunday from around 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Captain Cook on the west coast of Hawaii Island. There’s local produce on sale, as well as the obligatory macadamia nuts, honey, and Kona coffee, but much of the market is occupied with arts and crafts by local artists, including jewelry, pottery, wood carvings, and even some magic wands. Visitors can also look forward to live music, food stands, crystal healing, and massages. The vibe is chill and welcoming, with stallholders eager to chat and offer you samples of their wares—no strings attached. Come spring, the market will add another site for vendors on Halekii Street. Called the Pure Kona International Market, the indoor spot will be open six days a week. By AFAR Traveler , AFAR Contributor"

Pure Kona Green Market is an absolute treasure! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, filled with passionate local vendors offering unique products and fresh-made delights. One standout was the Thai food stall, where the papaya salad was prepared right in front of me—so fresh, so flavorful! Their fried rice was also exceptional. Another incredible find was a vendor selling all-natural sunscreen, so pure that it's safe to eat! The texture was smooth and soothing on the skin, and they also offered a pain relief formula that truly worked. Beyond the products, what impressed me most was the wisdom and spiritual depth of the local community. Their knowledge and connection to nature made this experience unforgettable.

We had to drive out of town to find this Fender's market but it was well worth it. So many beautiful pieces of jewelry, custom made and unique, also great food vendors were here at this event. Live music was in the air with Hawaiian songs and everybody was smiling is the sun was shining. If you get a chance I highly recommend going to this market.

Google
Great market for fresh fruit and veggies. Had several vendors with jams and jellies with exotic fruits. Good selection of crafts from local vendors: photography, pottery, wood work. Plenty of food options. Feel of a market that both locals and tourists attend. Nice quality and selection of souvenirs.

What a lucky stop we made! On the way to Volcanoes National Park, we stopped by this lovely market. Homemade Banana Pineapple Cakes from Toki's Small Farm caught my eye and we got the regular one. The BEST choice about food during the stay in Kona!!! It is a compact market but you can enjoy varieties of products. Worth visiting again!!!

Google
We were lucky and caught it open on Sunday in our drive South from Kona and enjoyed the variety of kiosks - enjoyed Kona coffee samples, and Thai tea with coconut milk 😋 lovely variety of venders but high prices. Far better than the Kona market. Highly recommend the Thai kiosk - the tea and tapioca pudding $6 each are so tasty. Only down side is parking was a huge challenge.

Google
Seen it from the road and was glad we stopped. Plenty of parking and just a nice little laid back market. Lots of vendors with different types of booths (not everything the same) some very unique gift ideas. You could walk through without spending half the day if you wanted but I definitely would come back and stay longer to listen to the live music. Sorry no pics of the actual market (was just kind of taking it all in) but here are a few purchases I made there.

Google
You’ll find lots of unique and interesting finds here. Lots of souvenirs at a fair and reasonable prices. There’s lots of booths to look at as well as a couple of awesome food trucks to try out. There’s lots of free parking at the adjacent park, which is just foot steps away from the market. And you can’t miss it from the main road.

Google
First time to this market. Great selection of quality handmade local gifts, produce, and the best thing was the locally sourced prepared or packaged foods, like jams and healthy juices, baked goods and food trucks!

Yelp
Thankful always for farmer's markets that support the local businesses...which is all of them! This market had a family business that featured banana lumpias and banana malasadas that were the bomb! The market is in the parking lot of the Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical garden so please go in and explore. We had never seen bread fruit hanging in the trees before. Parking can be a challenge so please be patient and drive carefully. We got a spot pretty quickly. Local honey, jams, and crafts to buy. We also picked up some ahi and poke for later. All very fresh. Check out this market

Yelp
The first thai stall was great. Had sui mai, pad thai with chicken with generous portion, sticky rice with sweet yams (purple) wrapped in leaf and charred was the best. Tapioca pudding with ube and coconut was sweet. 3 items filled three persons. Jewelry, jams, crafts, etc. Restroom was clean. There is nowhere to sit and eat but make due. The garden in the back had native rare Hawaiian plants. Great to walk around. They have QR code to go online with stories of each plant. Very ingenious. Had a musician who played ukulele. Wished he sold his CD. The lemon ginger drink was so goid, very gingery.

Yelp
Amazing farmers market! From fresh local coffee, fruits, nuts ( yes, fresh roasted macadamia nuts!), food, veggies and crafts. Anything your heart desires. Live music too. I found loads of unique local made gift items and some equally amazing fruits! Why go to town and get made in China gifts? The vendors are wonderful, friendly and so informed. This will be my go to next trip across.

Yelp
Warm hearted farmers market with an Aloha spirit. This local market has a lot of handicrafts and ready made food. Not a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, but they are here along with a surprising amount of leafy greens. I liked the live music and resilient green grass where you park cars under a trees up the hill. There is a little garden there as well which I'd like to check out next time. A very special aloha spirit is here.

Yelp
We are just driving by and saw the sign for this!! Very fun! I loved supporting local businesses!

Rhea A.

Yelp
Good food and selection of wares. I recommend the banana malasadas. People were very friendly. It's on the smaller side, but has a great variety.

Alyce M.

Yelp
Closed today (1/14/2024). No notice, signs, or person telling us why no Farmer's Market. This is the 3rd time in the past month. Forget this place. They don't care about their customers

Yelp
Loved the mixture of merchants and food vendors. Plenty to see. The dried fruit vendor was really nice and let us sample a lot before purchasing :) kurts coffee is a must. Deer honey was here when we visited and had the most vibrant and beautiful artwork (sold as prints, greeting cards or stickers). Parking can be tricky but there's some street parking nearby

Yelp
Definitely a must if you're here on a Sunday. Lots of local artists with the most beautiful designs. Also picked up so many jams because we just had to have them!!

Anna H.

Yelp
I love this market! Such a great place to stop when going to South Point or Volcano. I stopped and got Boar Coffee cold brew and it was the best coffee I ever had! Definitely need to buy a bag or 2 to take home with you. The honey at Hawaii Bee Company is also incredible!

Yelp
Lots of very quality selections. Fresh produce, interesting food choices. The Thai spot has very quality made to order dishes and pre made spring rolls etc. Tacos are on point, made fresh to order. Very kind and knowledgeable vendors. Might be nice if there were more places to sit and eat. Live music was a blast!

Yelp
Lovely little local farmers market. There was a good variety of prepared food, lunch, Arts and crafts. Not too much in produce, maybe four small providers. But this was in January. They have a lovely Hawaiian live music, bathrooms and a place to sit and eat. Highly recommend a visit.

Yelp
This is the place to go to! It has everything and great food also. I was even able to see the chiropractor that I so badly needed to see and was adjusted on the spot . I ended up buying lots of great things from sourdough bread, jams and jellies, Jewlery, nuts and so much more. Best market that side of the island. If you have the time its well worth it!

Kaitlyn A.

Yelp
I loved this market! We bought some awesome art from local artists and the loco moco we had was fantastic. Get there early before a lot of the shops sell out!
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
Let me clarify what I mean by pricing and selection of items. This market is heavily geared towards tourists. Having stayed on the East side of the island and attended the Hilo Farmer's Market, this market is overpriced. The Hilo Market is geared more towards local food, better priced, and has a great variety of food and local artists. Yes, things are more expensive in Hawai'i and I am willing to pay the price for items on the Big Island, just not necessarily at this market.

Yelp
Aloha! This market has been running for many years. It definetly has its own special atmosphere. I usually buy kombucha, honey, coconut, sausage, cake and some food from the lotus cafe food truck. Of course you can get much more. Massages, jewelry, clothing, art... It's a great place to get healthy vegetables and another basics. They also have live music. almost every time I go, I drop some change. This place has great facilities and enough parking. I love this market and the surrounding community. I will definitely stop by next time! Mahalo for reading this.

Yelp
Robyn Kinker does the most amazing body work - she worked on me last weekend at the market and then I visited her studio and she went deep. She connected with my body and found energies that needed to be released, and she is so dedicated to making the right connection so she can find what needs to be fixed. She is an amazing therapist, and a wonderful person who understands the connection between body and spirit. I cannot day enough about her, and whether you're sore from a surfing injury, farm work, or just want to chill out - text/call her at 808/633-1281.

Yelp
This market is hit and miss. We find it a bit too heavy on the crafts, and not strong enough on the farm/produce (especially stands staffed by the actual farmers) but it's an ok diversion with some decent hot/prepared foods and usually some good music playing.

Yelp
One of the better farmers markets based on Price, quality, and variety. Great place to get your produce from the farmers. Theres macadamia nuts, kona coffee, jams and jellies, jewlery, food, and drinks. Also, some of the venders sell their stuff a little cheaper here since its geared towards locals and not so dependent on tourist.

Yelp
We don't live on the Big Island, but we spend a lot of time there. This is our Sunday must do...every time! Such friendly people and always find lots of local fruits, food and wonderful hand crafted items.

Yelp
Great local farmers market in this small community. Veges and fruits, Thai food, baked breads and good arts.

Yelp
Driving to the volcano on a Sunday, we saw this market going on and decided to stop. It was great! Much better than other farmers markets we've been to in Kona. I saw the best vendors from other markets also come to this market, and there were lots more quality vendors here. Good veggies and fruit, crafts, and someone even makes fresh baked pizzas to order. We got some delicious macnut pesto and an avocado that's as big as my head. A guy had a truckbed full of coconuts that he'd crack open for you to drink, and another lady had delicious lilikoi butter. Yum! Skip the others, come to this farmers market!

Yelp
Everything here is crafted in Hawaii. Yep, when I retire to Hawaii I'm going to make pastel versions of traditional Hawaiian quilt patterns, too. There were a lot of handmade things here that the world did not need. There was one good potter, and a couple of decent glass people. There was one produce vendor, and for me the saving grace was a husband and wife who baked very good sourdough breads, including sweet rolls that my husband loved.

Miriam Z.

Yelp
Wow! A beautifully balanced farmers market with bright friendly vendors eeeeespecially ... Leona of Pure Kona lilikoi butter. We searched all over Kona for the perfect lilikoi butter and we were thrilled to find Leona. The market has artisans, music, fresh produce, tables for eating and ready made food. On this trip besides loving the lilikoi butter, I also enjoyed the sandalwood craftsman, the pewter artist and the delicious tamales. My friend loved the gluten-free cookies, the salad makings, and the block print clothing; and my other friend loved the tacos! This will be on my top go-to places in Kona!

Yelp
Stopped here just to look, lots of vendors from bread, eggs, jewelry, plants, teas n found breakfast to go with a Yummy Adriana's Chile rellano burrito mojado, and salsa on point!! She's from El Salvador, so her cooking method is a lil different from what I've seen on mainland, but well worth it!!!great hospitality despite the rainy weather

Jeannie S.

Yelp
The farmeRs market was great we really enjoyed the fresh produce! Therecwere other vendors there too.

Yelp
The name has changed and so has the days they are open. Now Fridays as well as Sunday. It is now called the Pure Kona Green Market. There are new vendors and many of the old ones have expanded with even greater selection and quality. Really worth a look-see but come hungry since there is good food at great prices served by wonderful folks with aloha. Well worth the drive up the hill from Kona Town.

Maria B.

Yelp
I would consider myself a farmers market snob and this one was the best I've ever been too. Tons of great produce and products made on the island that are very well priced, less expensive and obviously fresher than the grocery stores. There are vendors selling desserts and food for breakfast/lunch as well. We walked away with sugar loaf pineapples, lettuces, Mac nuts, kombucha and dessert. We also had the best Thai food at the food truck. We had breakfast and then got a to go order for dinner, it was that good. Highly recommend.

B T.

Yelp
Great farmers market with a good mix of local produce and handmade items. Got brunch at the partially-Asian-theme food truck. There is enough parking and a small building has bathrooms. There was music and dancing at the music tent too. Definitely will return!
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
I had a great time. Everyone was super friendly. I spent more than I thought I would, but not as much as I could have spent. The selection was amazing. The products were awesome. Bought a lot of fresh pineapple and a lot of gourmet, local honey. Super recommend.

Melissa B.

Yelp
Awesome market! Lots of different booths to visit with free sampling or testing of the products. As an out-of-state visitor, I definitely enjoyed looking at everything each table had to offer. There were a variety of items to purchase such as fresh produce, jewelry, gifts, artwork, juices, jams, pet items, leis, coffee, essential oils, desserts and more. My favorite treats sold here were the Hawaiian honey cups. So so yummy! I wish I had bought more to take home with me. The restrooms are clean and are located on the side of the main building. And we were able to find parking easily. The vendors were really nice. I really enjoyed chatting with many of them. They were really friendly and knowledgeable about what they were selling. This farmers market has a limited time frame that it is available though, so keep that in mind if you want to visit (Sundays from 9am-2pm).

Yelp
Cool place to stop if your crusing around in the area. This green market proves that the 60's never died...it just found a different location. It's not a "must see" but they do have some interesting vendors there. In particular, visit the guy who bakes top notch sour dough breads. Amazing to find this kind of bread out here.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
I love this market! All the vendors are so nice to talk to and I love their products. We bought coffe, macadamia nuts, Popsicles, and an aura rock.vendors love striking conversation with you and teaching you things even if you don't buy. I wish I lived in Kona so I could come back. They're is a real community feel here and I love it.

Yelp
Great food, some locally made art and carvings, and our big draw, macadamia nuts. The seller dehydrates rather than roasts and we are big fans. We buy 5 lb bags and now we buy two as our friends here in Hilo are addicts!
google avatar

Yelp
the band (a trio) that played was quite nice. there was a few produce stands (maybe 3-4), but there is not a big selection of produce. the produce stands sold papayas (2 each), dragon fruit (6 dollars a lb), local avocados (about 2 each), butter lettuce (3.5 a bag). there were a few cooked food booths: mexican food (tasted just average but very enthusiastic service), gluten free, breakfast-sandwich place, thai food lunch truck, 1 pastry place, and 1 bread place. also, there were a few booths carrying local jams, honey, and dried nuts and fruit. the local lady that sold limes and lemons was super kind. we also purchased a small bag of 'kona snow ice coffee' and lilikoi butter. the kona snow coffee is a very light roast. the other stands consisted of locally made jewelry and crafts. the vibe is very hippie-ish... still a tiny bit touristy, but a very different vibe from kona. .
