Pure Love Diner Bar - Gastro Obscura

"This eclectic 80s erotica-themed bar fronted by a bright and loud neon sign is a celebration of vices. Inside: a cheeky diner awash in red lighting, analog phones, floral print diner chairs, plush banquettes, and a working disco ball in the corner. Keeping with the theme, the shelves are stocked with magazines crammed with centerfolds of busty, scantily clad women. The aesthetic of Pure Love is a nod to the “grandpa shops” of Taipei—old-school karaoke rooms where older men are known to seek the company and services of flirtatious waitresses. Big in the ‘60s and up to the ‘80s, they have since waned considerably in popularity after a crackdown in prostitution in the ‘90s. Pure Love Snack Bar is a modern revival of the grandpa shop, but without any of the shady or illegal dealings. The food is unpretentious and rooted in Taiwanese classics like braised pork over rice, oyster soup, fried chicken, and deep-fried noodles smothered in an earthy satay sauce. The drinks are more elevated and utilize locally available flavors like guava, tieguanyin tea, and mulberry. Know Before You Go For dinner and a show, hit up the bar on Wednesday when they have pole dancers on rotation." - clarissawei

Cool concept. Interesting drinks. KTV machine also available. Cash & LINE pay only. Definitely a nice hidden find around Gongguan.

Ordered the signature braised minced pork rice with oysters, the side dish kimchi, and a red wine-based cocktail. The rice is a bit too greasy and heavy for my taste but they do put a lot of oysters, as what's written on the menu. The cocktail is okay. The interior is under red neon light and has retro vibes, very photographic. Take cash. Credit cards are only accepted when the bill is over NT$1000.

This place has the 80/90s vibes and decor. The food exceeds my expectations. We ordered 炒麵、滷肉飯, highly recommend 炒麵!Cocktails are on point. I personally really like the 鐵觀音 one. Definitely recommends this place overall!!

Love this place, the vibe and the food. Yummy 滷肉飯 and fried chicken. Good deal on a party tray of shot. Excellent service. And the decor is just awesome if you are nostalgic for the classic Cha Chaan Teng decor with a kinky after-hour vibe.

Such a hidden gem around Gongguan! Absolutely loved the decor, traditional vintage taiwanese style bistro. Food is delicious, cocktails somewhat less impressive. Friendly service, would recommend to anyone who wants to spend a good time with friends for a drink or to eat something. Looking forward to come another time to try other dishes!

Atmosphere was the best part of the place. Past that I thought the food was okay and they really want you to order alcohol. Service wasn’t the best and there is a minimum you need to hit also. The chicken was pretty bland and we couldn’t tell there was any sauce at the bottom because of the lighting.

I didn't eat, but to drink this is very good // a little sleazy in just the right way, not too busy, lit in red like it should be // time just slips away in red light // good barstools

Two stars, one for nice waiters, and one for the vibe… We only ordered some food, cuz we have to drive, so can’t drink. Food is def NOT recommended, my bf had oyster braised pork rice, than few hours later he got a bad stomach, oysters was stale, even tasted weird If you fancy a drink just have something before you go
