"Student Cafe in Berlin Located just across the street from the main library for Humboldt University, this hipster cafe is a great place for a cup of coffee or a light lunch. With free Wi-Fi (though no power outlets) it's a good place to do a bit of work or read a book. You won't find many tourists in here, despite being just blocks away from the always tourist Friedrichstrasse. It's a perfect little escape. And the coffee is excellent too!"

The cafe is spacious and popular. You will see many people bring their laptops here. The cold drinks are small even we ordered the large one. Apple scone tastes fine but definitely not the usual scone (British style).

Best coffee we’ve had in Berlin. We’ve tried 5 cafes, all with great reviews but pure origins had the best tasting coffee by far. They offered oat, soy and almond milk, and had plenty of seating inside.

I had a flat white. The flavor is excellent – probably the most that can be extracted from this bean. Very well done. One thing that stands out (and seems quite typical for Berlin): the staff constantly switches between English and German. Slightly confusing, but ultimately part of the city’s charm.

Very nice place with super nice staff and very nice food.. BUT the coffee was sooo sour. I could barely drink it :(

It was a hard morning, and normally when a day starts like this, the rest of it goes in the same direction. With that mood, I found this café on the map and didn’t expect much from a tourist-business area. But then came a big surprise: super friendly staff—smiling, sharing positivity—the fastest barista ever, great coffee, and an incredibly tasty baguette where you can feel the love in every bite. The attention to customers was impressively high, something you rarely see in Berlin. Suddenly, my whole day changed direction. A smile appeared on my face as well as on the faces of everyone who walked in. Thank you, guys, for your great work.

Hi, I’d like to give some honest feedback about something that has been bothering me for a while. Every day I come to your café — it’s right across from my workplace, and your matcha latte is honestly the best in the area. I also really appreciate the warm energy of the staff; I always leave with a smile. But there’s one fundamental issue that I can’t overlook anymore. I’m vegan, and each time I order, I end up paying noticeably more just because I choose a plant-based milk. It feels unfair — almost like I’m being penalized for making choices that are better for animals, for the environment, and in many cases even for public health. This daily extra charge adds up significantly. It genuinely affects my budget, and it puts me in a strange moral position where doing something responsible comes with a financial disadvantage. It shouldn’t be more expensive to make a sustainable choice. I’m saying this because I really like your café — the atmosphere, the drinks, the people. That’s why I’m hoping you will reconsider your pricing for plant-based options. Many cafés in Berlin have already removed the surcharge for oat or soy milk, and it makes a huge difference for customers like me. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I truly appreciate what you’ve created here — I just wish it could be a bit more inclusive for everyone who chooses a vegan option. Warmly, Rebecca

The Italian guy taking orders won me over with his friendliness and readiness to help. I’ll be coming back regularly for such great service 🙂‍↕️

This is one of my absolute favorite coffee shops in Berlin! The staff is always so friendly, and the quality of everything they serve is consistently amazing. Their brownie is my favorite—I consider myself a brownie expert, and this is hands down the best one I’ve had in Berlin. The quality is always top-notch. Coffee and matcha are always tasty! I love their loyalty card system—you collect stamps for each coffee and eventually get one free. The location is also perfect, right across from the student library, which is a huge bonus for me. My go-to dish is the Caesar Roll, and I love that they offer vegan and vegetarian options, as well as different plant-based milk. They really care about their guests, with thoughtful touches like a table stocked with honey, agave, and utensils for takeout. The only downside for me is that the café itself doesn’t feel very cozy. It’s often quite noisy because there are so many students, and the tables and chairs aren’t particularly comfortable. It’s my favorite spot, and I always look forward to coming back!
