We are about to leave for Krabi having stayed a few days in Chiang Mai. Staying at The Puripunn Hideaway has been a brilliant experience.||Location: It's situated in a very quiet spot away from the bustling high street and traffic. Chiang Mai is like a mini Bangkok and we appreciated the contrasting peace and quiet here, with the calming, fountain ripple in the courtyard/garden. We walked into Town crossing the bridge..it took us ten minutes (but, to go to the Old Town surrounded by the square 'moat', definitely take the Hotel option of a tuktuk to the main gate).||Size: It's small with all rooms facing the internal pool and beautiful, well kept garden.||Staff: All outstanding, treating you like an old friend or family member. Thailand at It's best. Att the manager is a quiet, kind, gentle, philosophical man who is respected and liked by all.||Rooms: We had a Superior Room on the second floor. It had a balcony, a good bathroom and a very large (I'm 6'4"), comfy bed with luxurious bedding. It was spacious and immaculately looked after by staff. The room was very stylish 'Thai meets Colonial'.||Food: Brealfast is served in the dining room. So comfortable and relaxing, as good as an evening meal, with a wide choice of fruit, pastries and hot food prepared/cooked by the chef outside with you.||Evening meals: If we'd known the food quality, preparation, presentation and service was so good, we would have eaten every night here...despite the unlimited food options in Chiang Mai. Also, let's say the value was surprisingly (very) good compared to others we tried.||Conclusion: Yes, I/we would definitely go again to the Puripunn. We could have picked a larger, bustling hotel ten minutes away in town and be one of the many hundreds of visiting, faceless tourists...but....we would have missed this unique Thai experience in an oasis of calm and tranquillity.|Many thanks...Bernie
