We walked in on a Saturday night with no reservation and a group of 5. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. We ordered a bunch of small plates and shared. The pesto pasta and the mozzarella trio were amazing. Every dish was better than the last. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I highly recommend.

Google
Excellent - service and quality of food both very high. I wood recommend this if you are looking for a mix of Portuguese‘style’ food with an Italian influence. We ate here twice: first occasion salad, pasta and pizza - very good; second time roast meats - again excellent. Waiter recommended good wine matches. It can be a little cramped inside - but the atmosphere is cosy. Good value (I think): €25/person for four drinks, one shared pizza, one shared pasta, two salads; €40/person for two meat dishes, one dessert, four wines, one port + water, bread etc.

This is definitely a must! The staff was amazing. Richard was a great host. Just a great bunch of employees! And the food so fresh just stop in there.

Google
The food is excellent. Tastes are amazing and the prices match it. The mozzarella tasting is amazing and the breads are really good. There is really nothing missing here. The Ricotta dessert is just amazing! Personally, I feel that the staff is just that: staff. Nothing special there. Some people like that, some people don’t. Personal preference though I would like the staff to be a bit more involved in the experience.

We arrived here while walking through the streets of the lower part of the promenade and it was a hidden gem. We didn't know what to expect. Despite being full, they gave us a table. Cassiano's attention and his recommendations were very helpful when ordering. The musical atmosphere provided by the street artists, in this case with a bossa nova sung by a very nice girl. The dessert was very good too. Highly recommended.

Google
This restaurant knocked it out of the park! We didn’t make a reservation but were able to get a table for four in a nice corner. Right from the very start, the service was top notch. Everyone was very friendly and smiley. Beautiful dining room, cozy, and lit perfectly. The food was so good! Best mushroom risotto we have ever had and the mini chicken was amazing. I thought it was stuffed with a potato but it was a lemon. Don’t make the same mistake I did and eat it 😂

This restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with a truly authentic taste of Porto. The ambiance perfectly captures the spirit of the city, making each visit memorable. The attentive staff adds to the charm, with special thanks to Manuel, whose exceptional service made our meal even more enjoyable. This is a place you'll want to return to again and again.

Puro 4050 is a great restaurant for an entertaining evening outside listening to some live music. There’s usually a wait, but the wait wasn’t too long for us. The food was really good although they left the pears off our zucchini and red pepper jam and pear salad. The penne pesto pasta was delicious and the baby roasted chicken was good. The drinks were ok too and the white wines are always hit or miss. For dessert we have the tiramisu and the Lime and mascarpone mousse which we really enjoyed. The Limoncello wasn’t for us and we’d pass on this next time. Overall a great place if you want to enjoy the scene outside.

Yelp
Staff very rude! Go somewhere else. Much better places around. Wanted to come in for dessert, coffee and drinks, after having Tapas at their sister property across the way. . I asked in a friendly manner if we could get a table for dessert. The waiter yelled at me, yelling "No! This is a restaurant! If you aren't here for dinner, leave!" I understand about not giving me a table, but the rudeness was very uncalled for. Go somewhere else!

Yelp
I rarely give reviews but after the HORRIBLE experience I feel that I need to warn people to stay away from Puro 4050. We visited the restaurant after a friend recommended it and regret it immensely. This restaurant appears to care about allergies as their menu has allergens listed such as gluten and dairy. It also notes to tell the staff if you have an allergy. I have a tree nut allergy and another friend has an almond allergy which could lead to hospitalization. We notified our waitress using google translate in Portuguese and they appeared to understand. Until we ordered the ricotta cake dessert. When it arrived it appeared to have a topping that looked like nuts and we asked the waitress one more time IN PORTUGUESE if it had nuts. She asked the kitchen staff and returned to the table and said it did not have nuts. After eating a few bites and thinking the topping had almonds, we asked yet again and were told by another server it did in fact have almonds. At this point we needed to rush back for medication and asked to speak to a manager. Not only did the manager NOT seem concerned one bit, but he also told us that it's not the waitresses fault because she is Colombian, even though we were speaking using google translate in Portuguese. He also told us that almonds are not nuts. The lack of concern for a severe allergy along with the mediocre underseasoned food makes me want to warn anyone visiting Porto to go elsewhere. Avoid at all costs, especially if you have allergies.

Erin O.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE with any allergies. I have anaphylaxis to almonds and we let them know in the beginning of the meal that there was a nut allergy. To the point where we had them put the pesto on the side with our appetizer just to be sure. We ordered the ricotta cake for dessert. When it came we asked again (IN PORTUGUESE no less using google translate) if there were nuts in the dessert. They assured us there weren't but while we were eating it we found almonds in the granola topping. The manager blamed the mistake on the fact that the server was Colombian. They also said almonds were not nuts (!). They made us the customers feel badly for having the issue. There was no apology. There was no acknowledgement that this is a serious problem. Despite their menu's last page stating we should let them know of any allergies at the table. Please do not give them any business. They are disrespectful, inconsiderate, and very dangerous. This is a restaurant that is expensive, caters to tourists and honestly shouldn't be in business.

Yelp
Spicy pizza and mushroom risotto! This place was phenomenal! Would also highly recommend the mozzarella, pesto, and artichoke appetizers. Liked it so much that we came back a second time

Yelp
I loved Puro 4050. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I believe Ricardo was helping us. We started with the Mozzarella, omg so fresh melted in my mouth. Their wild boar was so good. And their vino verde was really good. The ambiance was nice too.

Yelp
We were able to make last minute reservations on a Saturday night. The place is small and very welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing as was the bottle of wine. Really loved this place. Just felt very comfortable and a great vibe at this restaurant. Definitely worth the visit. Mahalo

Yelp
We accidentally found this gem when first acquainting ourselves with the city and looking forward a place for lunch. The menu drew us in, the amazing food and wonderful service won us over! The menu has an extensive selection of everything from cheese plates to a spectacular burger and a mind blowing steak takati. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well. The service is prompt and friendly and the prices beyond reasonable. We loved it so much we came back for dinner that night and they did not disappoint!!!! We will very likely be back again before we leave.

Yelp
Wow! Cozy and delicious. I had the Spaghetti Nero (fresh black soashetti with seafood and sun-dried tomatoes). Simple, not saucy. The Portuguese wine was delicious as was the tiramisu. The tiramisu was supposed to have a port wine in it, but we really didn't taste it. Still delicious.

Yelp
Great Italian food that was light and didn't feel heavy even after trying multiple different dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the outdoor patio with live music in the square but don't knock it if there is nothing available outside - the inside is stunning and the vibes are there. Service was as expected in Portugal - a tad on the slower side but it leaves more time for enjoying your meal. Definitely would go back!

Ilana B.

Yelp
I had heard about this spot from multiple people and knew that I had to try it while in Porto because who wouldn't want to eat at a mozzarella bar?! I had no problem getting seated as soon as I walked in. I ordered a glass of rose, the burrata, the mushroom side dish and the penne with cream. Everything was phenomenal! The service was great and the restaurant was super cute with an open kitchen which I loved. Definitely recommend this place!

Rebecca F.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Old but cool vibe with DELICIOUS food!! Order the boar and you will not regret it!!

Gabriela M.

Yelp
Great service and really delicious seafood pasta. Food and wine are both reasonably priced and very tasty. Would definitely return.

Yelp
We went to Puro from a recommendation from hotel staff. Sat outside in a kind of a square where several restaurants had outdoor tables. We showed up without a reservation at 7pm and we're seated right away. However it filled up quickly which was surprising for a Tuesday night. Reservation recommended. There were buskers who took turns playing which added to the ambiance. They seam to specialize in all types of mozzarella and can order all sorts of "toppings" to go with the cheese. We love all their foods with burrata with candied figs and mushroom pizza were stand outs.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
What a great find. The ambiance was great; the restaurant was situated in a little square where all the restaurants had outdoor seating. There was also live music. The menu consisted of tons of different meats and mozzarellas and burratas. There were also small snacks such as fried artichokes. My friend and I each got a cheese dish. I got the beef carpaccio with baby mozzarella and fresh pesto. My friend got prosciutto and burrata. The cheeses tasted as though they were just made. And the meats were off high quality. The dishes were highly affordable and tasty. Definitely recommend sharing a few items to get a good sample of the restaurant's offerings. The inside was super cute and it appears that the downstairs area is used for larger parties or events.

Carissa S.

Yelp
The mushroom pizza was amazing. They were totally empty when we walked by for lunch, but packed for dinner. Make reservations in advance. Also, they open at 7, not 6:30.

Chad V.

Yelp
Great place for Italian food in Porto and would recommend time and time again. Loved all the mozzarella and burrata! Pizza was light and crispy. Dessert was delicious especially nougat! Come here when you visit!

N S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Definitely make a reservation in advance. As a tourist, do not shy away from this place simply because it serves Italian food rather than Portuguese food. Highlight was the squid ink spaghetti. Appropriate portion size, intense seafood flavor, and spaghetti cooked to a perfect al dente. The freshness of the seafood for its price is one of the great things about Portugal. My favourite pasta dish to date was a cacio de pepe in Rome. This seafood pasta is a close second place!

Yelp
PRO-TIP: Though in a very touristy court, it is not cheap in quality! Excellent food, service, and ambiance. What an amazing little place! My mom and I were horrifically hungry and had no idea where to eat. After aimlessly wandering, quarreling over where in the hell we were going to eat, we stumbled first upon their sister restaurant, or I guess mother restaurant, just a block away (Cantina 65 I think?), but the wait was over an hour. We walked back to the touristy little square and put our name down for food and was seated in minutes. We were NOT disappointed. We sat on the little patio outside and the ambience in the square was fabulous. In using the facilities, the interior decor and ambience was also so romantic, cozy, and hip as well. Also, every staff member we encountered was professional, helpful, and so kind. We even had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with the owner, who at the time of our visit in June of 2017, had only had Puro4050 open a month or so. During our conversation, we heard a ton of loud explosions and were actually frightened, but he assured us that they were fireworks because it happened to have been one of Portugal's National Holidays and explained the whole day to us! Thankful for the reassurance to us tourists without the background knowledge of the significance of our travel days. The food was just fabulous - Portuguese fusion. It was all fresh, full of flavor, and had amazing texture to each dish we tried. We had the pork/boar fingers which were well seasoned and tender (not tough) - share or bring a BIG appetite for this dish as it is so filling. We also tried their zucchini dish with cheese and it was so delicious. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything here. It is fabulous.

Yelp
I arrived in Porto a little too early - the cleaner hadn't finished cleaning the apartment yet - so I took a walk down Rua Das Flores to find a place for lunch. Settled on Puro, an elegant, dimly lit restaurant with tables outside on the square as well as a cosy little terrace out back where I sat. I initially ordered the sangria espumante to drink but the waitress managed to convince me that 2 liters of booze in the middle of the day wasn't such a god idea and steered me into a glass of Soalheiro instead, providing me with a taste beforehand to make sure I liked it. I did; a lovely light white wine with just a hint of sugar and spritz. As she'd done such a good job with the wine I let her choose my meal as well; spaghetti Nero wth prawns and baby calamari. It generally comes with dried tomatoes but as I'm not a fan I asked her to lose these. The pasta was black - a result of it being soaked in squid ink which gives it a slightly salty flavour as well. The seafood was very fresh and tasted like it had been cooked in butter and garlic. The dish was finished with a sprinkle of finely diced parsley. Really simple, really delicious.

Yelp
Ate here twice in my 2.5 days in Porto. Food was spectacular and the location is great. Sat outside and enjoyed local musicians playing in the square. Only critique is that I wished they had a better beer selection, but that's the case for just about every restaurant in Porto.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Beautiful location on a lively avenue with outdoor music playing the night I was there for dinner. Each dish was delightful and every item on the menu looked like it was worth trying. Next time I hope to try the mushroom pizza.

Katy W.

Yelp
Had dinner here while on vacation. They were booked the first night we arrived, so we made a reservation for later in the week. My friend and I had one of the burratas to start and a pasta for the main course. Both were delicious. The atmosphere is cozy. I'd suggest getting a reservation ahead of time.

Silvia S.

Yelp
Super cute place with inside outside seating selections. Basket of bread with fresh butter and olive oil, yum. Vihno Verde, yes please! Black Pig for days (similar to a pork chop), the one person portion was enough to feed three adults a light lunch. Service was charming. Will definitely bookmark this place for future visits.

Yelp
The food here garners all 5 stars, it was the best meal we had in Porto. Everything was so so delicious! But more on that later. I knocked off two stars because the host/servers were very rude to us. We came to the restaurant on Saturday and made a reservation for 3 for Monday night and at the time had requested to sit at a table outside and the gentleman wrote my name down in his book and said no problem. Fast forward, we get to the restaurant Monday night and they are guiding us to a table inside. I told the host that we would prefer to sit outside and he says "well we don't have any tables available outside so you either sit inside or go somewhere else". Extremely rude and he started making a scene in front of others standing around when I tried to explain to him that the host before had said okay when I requested the table outside. Because it's actually extremely hard to find a place to eat in Porto after 8 pm, we had no option but to sit inside. After that we felt as if all the waiters had witnessed the scene created outside by the lovely host and were kind of judging us, not as warm/barely coming to the table etc. Regardless, the restaurant is very trendy and beautiful inside and the food is amazing and very tasty.

Yelp
We are on vacation in Oporto and wanted Italian cuisine. This highly rated restaurant seemed to be spot on and it did not disappoint! The buffalo mozzarella appetizer with olive oil was exceptional. We ordered a mushroom risotto and mushroom pizza. Both were excellent! The pizza dough was very thin with olive oil, cheese, herbs and delicious mushrooms. Our wait staff was exceptional and we never felt rushed at all. We sat near the kitchen and watched as the meals were prepared by a well oiled professional staff. Lots of loving care! We arrived early with no reservations and we were seated immediately but PLEASE make reservations! I saw many turned away. Highly recommended! Dinner was 60 euro with drinks, appetizers, two dinners and one dessert split between two of us.

Kristy P.

Yelp
We walked in at 7:00 without reservations and the only available table was the shared table. Worked out great and we soon realized why they were booked up... the food is fantastic! We started off with Burrata and Parma ham app... it came with a basil olive oil to drizzle on top. Very good. For the main dish I ordered osso bucco with truffle mash. Enough for two... but Good enough that you don't want to share! Melt in your mouth tender... They don't serve the full menu outside so be sure to make a reservation for inside.

Adam E.

Yelp
Excellent food and venue. A local friend brought us here. Try one of the baby mozzarella preparations and if you like mushrooms get the mushroom risotto. It's half mushrooms half risotto and it's incredible!

Susan H.

Yelp
Lovely food and fabulous service. We enjoyed the covered patio on a damp day. I know it says Italian but it seems more eclectic. Good for lunch or dinner.

Renee R.

Yelp
The food is excellent, the service leaves much to be desired. Server repeatedly did not deliver on requests (had to ask for water and an ash tray several times), delivered the wrong entree, and then the incorrect bill (a cheaper one which we thought was an attempt to remedy the service). Only after we began being rung up did the server tell us that he was ringing us up for the incorrect table. Though we received an apology for the wrong entree it would have been nice to have had better service all along or a discount on the bill. The chefs on the other hand know what they are doing so if you are willing to risk crummy service you will likely have a good meal.

Julie N.

Yelp
The ONLY reason for the 4 stars is the horrible AC. I know they're used to it in Portugal, but it's hard to enjoy dinner when you're sweating. The food was good, albeit a fairly limited menu. The owner (at least I think he was) was VERY nice and made us feel at home. Ambience is really nice - lots of interesting things to look at, and the room before the bathrooms was amazing.

T M.

Yelp
I am an American in Portugal, to let you know my biases. Good food at reasonable prices. Focaccia pizza was average. But my son in law had a burger he thought was the best ever. They combine different flavors very well, so be adventurous. I would definitely go back!

Andrea A.

Yelp
Delicious! I ordered smoked mozzarella, cherry tomatoes with arugula, and the most amazing penne pasta with truffle oil...I'm still dreaming about that dinner and wishing I could have more! Great food, fantastic service and charming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Milan G.

Yelp
Great location, near but not in the too crowded tourist area at the water (Douro). The restaurant is known as a mozzarella bar; we did a 'tasting' of 3 delicious cheeses, one of them which was smoked and had a very pronounced flavor. In addition to the mozzarella, we had ordered some smaller tapas including potatoes, salad, fried eggplant, and artichoke.
