Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy

Wow! This place is truly beautiful! This is not a 3 star hotel, I think it’s more of a 4+ especially for El Salvador. We’re world travelers and enjoy from small boutique to 5 star luxury resorts, this is a must! Service is great, rooms are comfortable and have cold AC, the grounds are beautiful and the restaurant food and service is excellent. We’re here in July and the only thing is the waves are big and beach is rocky, so we’re driving to San Blas beach today but that’s the season not the hotels fault. So glad we picked this place as our last stop in El Salvador.

This trip is one of the BEST family vacations we’ve ever taken. We’re an adventurous family that loves to be active on vacation, our usual trips include things like hiking through Patagonia, skiing out west, sailing and boating adventures… Puro Surf will go down as one of the favorites among every one of our family members. The surf academy has been created to perfection! Every detail has been curated with care and attention and honestly I can not speak highly enough to the entire experience! From the beauty of the hotel to the food to the amenities (concrete skate wave, yoga, video analysis, weight room) to the AMAZING STAFF!!! We had a 10 out of 10 experience and all got better surfing!! As a Mom I felt like my kids were in the best hands and stage even when the waves were pretty big for our standards. The staff is one of the main reasons we will be coming back! Tito and Alejandro are exceptional coaches and just made our entire experience perfect! The whole family was so sad to leave!! Puro Surf we’ll be back!!!

Our family had such an amazing time at Puro Surf! This trip was such a wonderful combination of beach, surfing, and relaxation. We even threw in some of their daily classes like yoga and surf-skate lessons and found a few new unexpected hobbies! This place is the definition of a respite and a retreat! We stayed in a very comfortable triple room with 3 beds, hot water (our only lodging in El Salvador that had it), and a balcony that overlooked the ocean. The open-air restaurant (breakfast was included) and the infinity pool are among the most serene places on the planet! We had a blast watching the professional surfers from the pool. In addition to having all our meals here, we also loved all their coffee and smoothie options. If you have any hesitancy on bringing your kids to El Salvador, book a week here, and you will want to make this your new go-to family destination (especially with very reasonable flights from the U.S.)! The area around Puro Surf in El Zonte is very safe and walkable. However, you don't even need to leave the resort if that's your preference.

We had such a great time at Puro Surf! The surf coaching was excellent—very observing, encouraging, and tailored to each person. Loved the video analysis and practice drills, they really helped me improve. The waves were long and perfect for learning, and the staff were so responsive and friendly. Couldn’t have asked for a better surf camp experience!

I've never had an experience like this before. The place, the organizers, the instructors, the photographers, the cleaning staff, the reception team—in short, the entire team—is ideal for having the best surfing experience you could ask for. The energy they have is truly spectacular and special. I recommend this to everyone, regardless of their level of experience or just perfecting the art of surfing. This is the place to do it. The program that they offer is perfect in every way and the extra activity that they offer makes the perfect balance. I felt a great progress in my surfing and in my well-being. I felt at home here, I received a warm welcome, and saying goodbye was hard. I made lifelong friends here. The country is extraordinary, special, and safe. I hope to return to this place. If you go you have to try the “papusas” of jalapeño with cheese and another one of cheese with garlic, you will thank me later.

I am a beginner surfer and went for the surf academy. I cannot say enough good things about Puro Surf. The spot is beautiful, the staff are so kind and friendly and the design/ layout of the whole resort is so well planned. You can tell someone put a lot of time and thought into the look and flow of everything. I was extremely impressed with the surf academy. Again, it’s so well designed and Bauti and Melvin were excellent coaches. They were so encouraging and always saw the places I was improving even when I got discouraged. I am so grateful to have had them as coaches as a beginner surfer. I cannot wait to go back. It was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

We had an absolutely amazing surf trip at Puro Surf Hotel & Performance Academy. I came here with my fiancée and we both had a wonderful time from start to finish. The location is unbeatable—right in front of one of the best surf spots in El Salvador. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent, and the overall vibe of the place is a perfect mix of chill and performance. The rooms are spacious, clean, and stylish, offering everything you need to rest and recharge. A huge highlight for us was the high-quality training facilities and the world-class coaching system. The surf coaches are incredibly skilled, passionate, and supportive—ideal for both beginners and pros. The BJJ class was also a standout experience and added an awesome variety to our active days. Whether you’re coming to train hard, catch waves, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful El Salvador atmosphere, Puro Surf delivers on every level. We’ll definitely be back!

Was surfing at a local break in El Salvador, enjoying the morning, and all of a sudden 20 beginners are dropped off with guides in a puro surf bus. This is disrespectful and inconsiderate of other users. I understand bringing in guests paying top dollar and wanting to give them a good experience, but this is putting their guests above the common good. Frankly, I think this is an overpriced hotel designed to extract money from westerners at the expense of the common good of the locals, and other travelers. This is an unethical place, and I wouldn’t support them. Property is a great place to poach a pool and gym, though! If you’re white they leave you alone.
