Purple Lantern Restaurant( An Bang Beach Hoi An )

Every time I return to Hoi An, Purple Lantern is at the top of my list—and for good reason. The kindness and warmth from the two sisters who run this place are unmatched. Their hospitality makes you feel like you’re coming home. The food is out of this world. We started with the local appetizer platter—each bite bursting with authentic flavor. The Vietnamese pancakes were crispy perfection, and the scallops stole the show: fresh, tender, and beautifully seasoned. My personal favorite was the eggplant in a clay pot—the sauce was so rich and flavorful I could’ve eaten it with a spoon. We finished with the grilled fish, which was incredibly fresh and grilled to perfection. Their recommendations are always spot on, and you can tell each dish is made with love. The flavors are balanced, the ingredients are fresh, and the presentation is thoughtful. It’s that perfect mix of home-cooked comfort and culinary delight. Thank you again to the lovely sisters for creating such a special place. Purple Lantern is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience I look forward to every time I’m in Hoi An.

We have had dinner twice already in this restaurant and for sure we’ll come back by the time we leave. The food is nothing short of delicious, full of flavor, beautifully presented and obviously made with care. What truly sets this place apart is the staff. They are incredibly kind, attentive without being intrusive and genuinely passionated about sharing whatever they have best to offer. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a lovely dining experience!

Cute, efficient, and oh, so yummy food! A relative feast of flavors and textures. The scallops were delectable. The Huda beer is a must on a hot Vietnamese evening (or anytime!). We need more time to come back and try everything on the menu!

We were recommended the Purple Lantern by a couple of people, so we gave it a go. We had the Vietnamese pancakes, chicken cashews and eggplant, and pork mince pot (smelt so good, so tucked in before taking a photo before eating). I highly recommend the eggplant dish. The service was excellent, so kind, warm, and welcoming. Was a great atmosphere for our toddler and was so welcoming to him providing highchair wipes, etc... The plate of fruit at the end was a great end to the meal, thank you.

4 generations of institution. Great food, so glad we considered the 1000+ reviews and the high 4.9 , it's well deserved. Do yourself a flavour and go. BTW the full snapper was the best I have had.

We had the bbq pork and cashew chicken and it was so good. Highly recommend the staff is super kind and speaks great English. Super welcoming and would come again. Gluten free accessible and can pay with card! Awesome experience

The great part about our experience was the service and the beautiful lanterns. The food was just okay. We ordered the crystal rose dumplings, pho, eggplant dish and grilled beef. The grilled beef didn’t seem grilled and arrived undercooked and covered in sesame seeds. The beef tasted like it was cooked on a flat surface and not under a fire.

We really enjoyed our 8th wedding anniversary dinner at the Purple Lantern! The wife chose a restaurant that we had not been to before and we were pleasantly surprised by the selection of entrees, the wonderful atmosphere and the exceptional service by the staff! We would dine there again. Thank you!!
