Great live music spot! Good bar service. We went to see a band play and loved the DJ, MADAME DUCHESS mixing it up between band sets!! Great vibe and had a blast dancing! Attentive bouncers took care of any situations in a professional and respectful manner.

Located right on the boardwalk, this is an oasis sitting off of the beach. Famous for their Bloody Mary, but plenty of cold beers, ciders, and seltzer type beverages available in many, varieties. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and they have live entertainment....check their schedule. The staff are great and go out of their way to ensure you have an awesome experience. Check out the t-shirts and souvenirs, they are pretty cool. Highly recommend giving them a try!!!

A good place for quick food 🥘 and drink 🍺 .. right next to boardwalk . I really liked the ambience inside. … there was music and loved the colors inside . Lots of space to sit / relax and have some food/ drink. Service was good . Not much of beer options though .. not much on draft … they had bottles . Overall a good experience 👍👍

Fabulous atmosphere! Laid back but ready to party for New Years! Brian our bartender was awesome, personal and attentive to us as guest! We had a blast!!

Purple Moose Saloon is a vibrant, open-air venue with live music, perfect for those who love to party. With great drinks and a friendly atmosphere, it's a great place to relax and meet friends.

I googled "gay bar's in Ocean City" and this bar popped up. I thought I would give it a try to see what it was like. Its on the boardwalk near a few other bars which are exciting and I was eager to see what this place offered. I was incredibly disappointed and downright upset at my experience. It was my first time and I will probably never set foot or recommend this bar to anyone. There was a $10.00 cover, which is reasonable for a bar. I gladly paid the entrance fee and was able to with my card, no issue. The bar was a fully stocked bar with, in my opinion, reasonably priced drinks. The lines moved quickly and the bartenders were friendly. The reason I had a bad experience is that I was standing in front of the stage listening and jamming out alone, and not bothering anyone. At one point, I guess being the loner, I had a bouncer come up to me and tell me I was being asked to leave because I was bothering people. I hadn't had a single conversation with anyone and was shocked. I didn't even bother with asking as it was quite clear this visitor from out of state (Florida) was clearly unwelcome in a rather 'welcoming' environment. It was obvious I was alone and the rest of the bar was full of people who were together. So I dare say, if you are alone and want to just enjoy some time alone, maybe see the local scene and enjoy a drink, bring a friend. You are not welcome alone, and if you are part of the LGBT+ community, go elsewhere. This place is the complete opposite and not worth the time.

It is located on broadwalk with no cover charge except $5 I paid when they have a band. Drinks are around $7 to $10 each. They have a good DJ when band is not there at nights offering top 40. So dance your night out. Only reason I gave them 3 stars because owner is rude and made me pay cover twice because I went out to consume food (slice of pizza) next door and he does not trust his own employees word. But place is good and will go there again.

We walked 2 miles along the boardwalk from our hotel to the Ferris Wheel looking for the bar that seemed the most fun and this was it! Live DJ at 9:00 and then a band at 10:00 with cold beers throughout. The band played covers of hit songs and the entire bar sang along to Livin' on a Prayer. Everyone was incredibly cool and nice from the bouncers at the door to the bartenders and the patrons. Best bar on the boardwalk - no contest.

Joe was a busy beaver today but waited on everyone in order and fast!! Wine and beer were great and cold! Atmosphere was comfortable and casual.

It was a Wednesday and there was a nice crowd but not too packed. The beer we ordered was ice cold and the dance floor was poppin, although I would have preferred hearing more tunes that I was more familiar with. It was a fun night altogether and I would come back again!

I'm only giving it a 3 because they have house dance music nights that are a complete @#$% show. Nobody wants to hear that. And watch the kids fight and grope each other. Other than that, great place to see bands. Here right now and the bartenders at the front bar are killing it. Absolutely on top of everything, fast, friendly, and attentive. Seriously, kudos to this staff. One of the best bar staffs I've seen. Great beer selection and the frozen drinks are good too. Definitely coming back to see other bands. Just not when I hear house music playing and the average age is 22.

We were planning to stop in, intrigued . We walked away because the bouncer sitting outside was incredibly rude. Maybe the goal should be to welcome people into your business not crabbily sit on a chair and scare them away. Super disappointing! Big nope!

This is a definite stop when I visit OCMD. Bands and DJ are good! Their clothing merchandise is awesome!! Prices are little high but it's a fun place!

No food but it is definitely good for people watching. Nice to get off the boardwalk an have a beer.

We went during the evening and were greeted by a security guard at the front door who checked our ids (he looked and sounded miserable). There is a packed long bar, but luckily we could find 2 seats. It took a while for the bartender to come around to us. We noticed that he would go around to everyone else but would lowkey ignore us to the point where we had to call him over just for him to stay, wait and go directly to someone else. It didn't help that we were the only non white people there then, so we felt a little singled out. Even this group of guys noticed what was happening and thought it strange. We only got to have 2 drinks, so we quickly left and went somewhere else to drink and eat (because they serve food). The bathrooms could be cleaner, but I didn't expect much, considering it's a bar! The vibes overall bar atmosphere was pretty alive, and people looked like they were having a great time! I didn't know any of the songs playing, considering it's a Rock bar (unfortunately, I don't listen to Rock), but that didn't bother me. Later at night, we realized our card was charged $50 even though the drinks were $14 total + tip. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, considering that the charge is still "pending," so hopefully, we will see if it will change soon. We're still determining if this was because we had a tab open, but I hope the accurate amount shows soon. Another bummer was the fact that there was no food here whatsoever! So, I recommend you eat somewhere before you come here, or don't anticipate staying here long. Luckily, I had Trasher fries in my bag, so I could snack on that for a while before we decided to get up and leave to a restaurant and bar. This place would be good if you are into Rock music as they have live bands playing there weekly! We are willing to give it another shot in the future!

Best Bar in Ocean City This is five star review for by far the best bar on the boardwalk in OB. A giant bar, serving strong drinks, and affordable beers fast. These bartenders whip around the bar. The bar is dark even during the day and they have great live music scene at night. We had a great time during bike week in September. Always the late night go to. Long live the MOOSE, get drunk and party. Thanks

Don't waste your time. Even though it's right on the boardwalk, people avoid this place as I have never seen it busy and when it is, it's a very unsavory crowd and they are very very boring. It's funny, I just saw four bouncers at the door in about eight people inside.

We usually hit up the Purple Moose every time we come to OC without children lol. It's a fun vibe; I have never had issues with price gouging at the door as other reviews have mentioned. The security / bouncers are always nice. We actually came here 2 nights in a row to see Alter Ego play and on the second night they didn't ask for my ID at the door because they remembered me from the night before lol. So that was cool. Bathrooms are as expected - it's a bar. Not a lot of hard seltzer options. In fact they only had white claw black cherry when we just went. Also no food, but during the summer the boardwalk has plenty of food options. Parking is a pain if you can't find a close spot. But we always have a good time here.

Great drinks, relaxed atmosphere, great music! I had the deep purple lemonade, my fiancé had a Malibu bay breeze. The bartenders and staff are very friendly and attentive!

Perfect balance to all the Meathead, teenager-pop, nightclubs in OCMD. Listen to some grunge, classic rock, emo, play some pinball, and do it all in the neon dark, LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO !!! Awesome throwback to the glow-stick, high ceiling, mini-clubs of the 90's. With great bands, Neato-stickers for your skateboard. I just wish they sold E-bombs so I could go full on pre-millennia.

During the day, me and my group went here and the staff was amazing. We promised to return later in the evening. My and my group came back later that night and I left my phone in my car so I had to go back. I told the group to go on and I'd meet them. I met them on the boardwalk where they told me it's a $10 cover to get in. That's fine, so me and my group walked back over to the entrance and the security guard said $20 cover..... so in the matter of 2-5 minutes, they doubled the cover charge !!! It's highway robbery and I'm convinced the security guards would've pocketed the extra $10. I'm extremely dissatisfied by that type of behavior both from a business standpoint and a consumer standpoint. To be fair, earlier during the day, the service from the bartenders was amazing !

One of better bars on the boardwalk. Really big, plenty of seating and a dance floor when your drunk. Beers were cold and music was decent. Keno at the bar always keeps me entertained. Would stop by again

First of all, it's like Covid didn't exist inside. Second, one of the security is very creepy. One of my guy friend was dancing and he asked him to stop and told him that he'll get kick out if he keeps dancing. On the other hand, my girl friend was dancing at the same time and kept watching her and asked for her number. Like what?! So it's okay for my girl friend to shake her ass in front of you? He was skinny and has black hair, I didn't really get his name.

It's awesome! Everyone that works there are absolutely amazing! Great personalities! Brian is by far the best bartender on the boardwalk! Quick, friendly and funny!! Can't wait until spring!

Passed by several times going to other bars along the boardwalk and stopped in on a Sunday night. Had a great time at the Purple Moose. Drink and beer selection was good and the bartender was on point. Music was a mix to suit everyone.

This has always been a stop for us as long as we've been coming to IC, but as we've got older and have kids, it got pushed to the back burner. We did always make an effort to stop and get a good Bloody Mary. So since we had a rainy day we were able to make some time to stop over for a Bloody Mary. I didn't think they were as great as they used to be, maybe my tastes have changed, we were provided pickles on the side, it did have green olives and an old bay ring around the rim, it just didn't have that good rich flavor I remember, it used to be more balanced and at $37.50 for 3 of them, I think we'll be moving in from the purple moose.

Went on a Friday night and a live band was playing from 10 to close! It was a good vibe and a variety of people. A tad pricey but it is directly on the boardwalk so it's a local tourist stop for sure. Our bartender Bryan was amazing though! Took the time to know our names and always made sure we were taken care of - easier to get a drink when you sit directly at the bar though - it gets crowded later. Overall good first impression - will visit again when we come back!

The orange crush is good. Purple lemonade type drink is not as good. Interesting place if you have time. I remember it from before 2000 and not much has changed.

Price Gouging at the door. I was told by the doorman on Friday that you should expect to pay $10-$40 per person to get in. Sure enough on Saturday we were told $20 each at 8 pm. Not worth $50-$55 total to me for two people's admission and one drink each with tax and tip. Went to the outdoor club at Plim Plaza with free admission.

Very fun bar ! We drove down from Bethany Beach just to go here. Excellent bar, quite large which is surprising because from the boardwalk, it looks small. Kinda dark but in a cool way. Saw a good band, had some beers and danced till midnight. pretty crowded for a weekend in late October !! Can't wait to go back !

As many times I've been to OC, I never once stopped at The Purple Moose. Thanks to Jason and Amber at the door, decided to check it out. Bartender super-friendly! Sadly due to Covid, probably not the party atmosphere one would expect. Great time, and great conversation! Thanks Purple Moose Staff for making a daytrip to OC more enjoyable!!

Been to the Purple Moose for years but stopped in yesterday with two friends and was told by the rude lady behind the counter that a Canadian Passport wasn't a valid form of ID. She proceeded to tell my friend that she needed a "visa" stamped by the US otherwise it wasn't valid. Now everyone knows you don't need a visa to visit the United States from Canada... everyone except this idiot. No manager came to help and we ultimately had drinks elsewhere.

I wouldn't even give them a 1 star. Worst bar ever, unless you're not wearing Steelers, Pirates, or pens attire. If you you're wearing a Pittsburgh shirt, you'll get looked at the whole time you're there and make you feel uncomfortable while on vacation. I would definitely not recommend this bar on the boardwalk for PA people!!

It's a fun little bar! Lots of seating and fun music at night. Great drinks and the bartenders are all awesome!

BYOF. Belly up to stare at tellies and play Keno while the skies are overcast. The deeper into the bar you go, the stronger the UV lighting. The bartender jams out with a smile no matter the time of day because his job is to promote the Top 40s party that never stops even if the dance floor by the bathrooms is deserted. Grape bombs are gross, don't do those shooters. Don't go light on whipped cream with the orange cream slushy, because without it you'll miss the creamsicle taste... and along with the maraschino cherry, it actually cuts the diabetic sweetness levels down a notch.

So we have been here before. As a couple alonost 50 we returned and it was nice to find the music our generation. I bet you wish the millenals came by. The security at the door was very concerned about my water bottle. Made me empty it and leave it at the door. Bummer. I was really interested in sneaking in my pint of vodka. You were so worried you missed my wife's backpack with a kilo of coke, a ton of meth and a slew of ecstasy.

I love when places are creative with their names. Makes we want to try them all. They don't serve food but they have a food delivery hotline for local restaurants who will deliver right to the bar. My spirits cost me $5.50 so not as high as I was expecting it to be since it's a tourist trap on the boardwalk. Really like this place. We will be back.

This is where you get your live band and dj action on. pros right on the boardwalk easy access stiff drinks live bands and dj's are usually decent.( the 80's band played Ahlea by Donnie Iris..impressive) good mix of peeps. cons three door men? c'mon I'm no trouble. drinks all over the dance floor. Good party spot. just do it. Two thumbs up for Purple Moose.

If you're looking for a good, STIFF drink on the OC Boardwalk THIS is where it's at. My family and I were here celebrating a birthday during 4th of July weekend. This was one of the many stops we made along the Boardwalk. We were there pretty early in the afternoon, so it was quiet. There's plenty to choose from at the bar, including the namesake "Purple Moose" (heard it was good, but didn't bother trying) and several beers on tap. Don't get TOO used to a song on the jukebox. The moment you start snapping your fingers and tapping your foot, someone will come along and interrupt your party program.

Pretty cool bar on the boardwalk open late on a Monday. Wife and I walked in around 1am to grab a drink or 2. Nice guy Wes came down started convo us and even cheered us on in keno. Other bartender Bobby made us a very nice shot which was strong with a nice sweat ending. All in all we will probably be back before our stay is over in ocean city.

This is my new favorite bar in ocean city! The bar is dark inside and is full of funky decor with neon signs and of course-- a disco ball over the dance floor! There is plenty of room to sit at the bar and the dance floor is located towards the back. The drinks were reasonably priced and If you're looking for a fun creative shot, I would recommend their signature Moose Juice! I visited the Purple Moose in the afternoon and even at 3 PM it is an absolute blast. I would highly recommend checking this bar out!

The OC boardwalk has really changed. I bought my t-shirt at their store next door (very limited inventory) and had my purple PMS specialty drink of which I still have no idea what was in it because they had no menu and my waiter sounded illiterate. Oh well, I guess you really can't relive certain moments.

Christina is the absolute BEST bartender I have ever had. She makes you feel like you are best friends and she genuinely cares about the patrons. I have a tendency to be a little shy especially when asking for drinking that suite my many dietary restrictions, but she took that as a fun challenge and opened my eyes to drinks she came up with that were delicious! I can't say enough about how fantastic she is as a bartender. The bar itself has a nice atmosphere during the day and at night when it's more crowded. I really enjoyed my time there and will DEFINITELY be back!

At 11 on a Friday night, this was one of the only places on the boardwalk that was still bumpin. Literally aside from the tacky t-shirt stores, nothing else was open. There was definitely a mixed crowd from the younger memorial day vacation crowd to older locals. Still it was obviously a favored spot due to the amount of people inside(not enough to overwhelm you and plenty of room to manuver while inside. We returned again on Saturday night (there was a live band so there was a $5 cover). The band performed on the small stage at the far end of the room; again there was a pretty decent sized crowd. We got there early enough that we scored seats before the majority of people arrived, so we had a place to hang out. It's a great place to hang out if you don't want to be too dressed up and just want to have a good time in a casual place!

Come here to drink and drink only because that is your only option, they don't serve food, which is fine with me, I go to bars to drink not eat. Funny thing is you can bring food from outside with no issue but don't try to bring in any outside liquid. I came strolling in munching an ice cream cone with no problem while another member of my group was denied entry until a bottled water was finished. No thrills bar with a DJ and an obnoxious but decent hype or mic man. Didn't stay very long so who knows how long the party rocks. Was able to try something called the purple shot, have no idea what was in it, it tasted like grape kool aid but still had a decent kick. I would say this place is worth a visit, if you're walking the boardwalk and want to stop in for a quick beverage.

Came across this place while walking the boardwalk...looks deceivingly dark and dingy, but it wasn't bad at all when we went in. Planned to have a drink and ended up having a few rounds with my fiancé. We even got to play pool. Would definitely come back when the weather is warmer.

Attempted to have lunch. Large venue. Not very busy about noon. As we prepared to sit at the bar a bouncer attempted to approach my wife. When he realized he wasn't getting by me he informed us she had to leave her water bottle outside. Not, "do you mind putting your water bottle in your shopping bag or beach bag"? They apparently think they're the only place on the beach. We left without a word said.

My girlfriends and I came down to OC for a quick weekend getaway. The Purple Moose was one of the only bars open/lively (off-season) and so we went in. We were expecting to bar-hop all weekend but we ended up staying at the Purple Moose until it closed both nights! The staff were incredibly personable and friendly! They made us feel right at home. There was a really great band playing and everyone was dancing and having a blast. The environment is very interesting because there were a lot of older locals, mixed with a younger tourist crowd. A lot of wedding parties were there celebrating their bachelor/bachelorette nights. We got to talk to so many interesting people. We decided to come back the second night because we had so much fun there the first night. The second night was just as fun if not more fun because the bartenders recognized us and treated us like old friends. Bobby, Tyler, Jude, thank you for an awesome weekend. You guys rock!
