We recently visited Pushkar, and it was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had! Everything was absolutely perfect from the food to the service to the overall atmosphere. We ordered kebabs and curries, and they were incredibly flavorful and delicious. The staff were all wonderful, especially Meet, who went above and beyond to ensure all our requests were taken care of. Highly recommend!

The Indian at this restaurant was absolutely stellar. The spices and flavors were perfect. Highly suggest this and trust your servers and their judgement on different dishes.

The food was amazing. I really enjoyed every bite, smell and taste of each dish I had.

Google
Food was good, would rate it with 4 stars, however, the service was bellow average, you would expect more care and charm from the staff from a place with white tablecloths like that, especially when they add a 12.5% service charge on your bill. As an example, the waitress dropped cutlery on the table whilst rushing to clear our plates and splashed my hair and dress with curry, but didn't seem very apologetic, only mumbled something about a wipe which I didn't understand - just wanted to leave at that point. Overall, not sure if I'd come back. The place looks a bit dated and rundown (some seats were dirty, menu pages had folds and stains), not worth the money. For a dinner for 4 paid £150, so better off finding a local curry house. ✏️Update - had a call from management today about the review, seemed very apologetic, passionate about providing great customer experience and keen to make up for the other evening. Really appreciate the time trying to make things right, no a lot of places would. They assured the menus have already been replaced and feedback has been taken onboard.

Recently dining we left feeling disappointed. The food was average and very overpriced. We were the only people in the restaurant and still did not feel the staff were attentive. We were sat in the window which was very cold. Staff did ask if we wanted to move when we were 1st seated but said no as assumed it would warm up. It did not. We were offered water and poppadoms but not told this was at a charge. £4 for a bottle of water is steep poppadoms where £5 which with dips we felt was a fair price and very good. We ordered cocktails which were good. We ordered our food with a different waiter (we waited 20mins to place the order). Starters arrived and were ok nothing special. We had table cleaned and asked would we like mains now or to wait 10mins. We said now but still waited over the 10mins. Mains came and were disappointing. The butter chicken was more tomato than creamy and sauce was thin also 6 small pieces of chicken £18. My wife had lamb shank which was a very good size portion and very tasty £22. We did wait a bit for table to be cleared and then a dessert menu brought. We waited 15mins to have the dessert order taken. All 5 staff were stood around the bar talking. 3 having a conversation with 1 person. Due to the delay I did not order a dessert or drink. My wife had a black forest martini and gulab jamum. The glad was very nice but 2 balls and 1 scoop of ice-cream was small. The martini wasnt great. The menu did not mention cream and this took always from the taste. We had 50% off food and still paid over £100. The 12.5% service charge is added before discount was so it's more like 20%. If the tip was discretionary I would not of been tipping near that amount. For the price we paid I feel food and service needs a big improvement. We will not be back in a hurry. Also the toilets are a fair distance from the restaurant and shared with the hotel next door.

The place is overall good, service was amazing, ambiance is very classy but food is ok, not bad but not excellent. Taste can be more authentic Indian and less British Indian. Portion sizes were small and pricier side. Portions and/or price need to improve to make it a worthwhile deal.

Google
High quality food (I like that we have the desi spice level option): great starter platter to share for two and we ordered 4 mains. Service was good with attention to details.

Yelp
Birmingham is one of the two capitals of Indian food in England (the other one being Bradford). It is home to Balti dishes, and Balti houses abound all over the city. With so many great-tasting and reasonably-priced Indian food options around, it is quite impressive that a higher end, pricier Indian restaurant like Pushkar has established a loyal clientele. Pushkar sets itself apart from other Indian restaurants in the area due to its upscale setting, the high quality of its food ingredients, and especially its creative dessert offerings. My first dining experience at Pushkar was purely by chance. I was staying near Brindley Place, and happened to be walking past the restaurant, when I decided to stop and check out the menu. The duck masala sounded interesting, so I decided to try it, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The thick tomato-based curry had a fantastic flavor profile that consisted of garlic, ginger, black pepper and red chilies. It paired well with basmati rice and a side of raita. Since my first visit, I have dined at Pushkar a few more times, and have always enjoyed everything I have tried. The murgh korma stands out as a rich, creamy, nutty curry dish that is perfect for you if you are in the mood for something less spicy. The innovative desserts at Pushkar are a major draw for me. The gajar ka halwa tart with pistachio ice cream is my personal favorite. The garam masala brulee sounded interesting, but didn't taste too different from regular crème brulee; the garam masala in it was really only a hint of cinnamon. It still was pretty tasty. The chocomosa is a filo samosa filled with chocolate and roast almonds, and is served with a scoop of cappuccino ice cream. Why had nobody else ever thought of creating a chocolate samosa, and if they did, why had I never eaten one before? Friends, if you find yourselves in Brummy, you must treat yourselves to a meal at Pushkar. It is truly deserving of all of the awards that have been bestowed upon it, including the 2015 British Curry Award, the 2015 Best of Broad Street Award, and the 2015 English Curry Award.

Yelp
Very excellent Indian food. I recommend starting with the pushkar panorama appetizer. It was a wonderful way to start the meal! Note that you can not order food at the bar. I wish i had saved room for desert!

Yelp
This is my second time at Pushkar and the quality of the food has not changed but my experience this time around did make me rethink about the service and the venue. I was exhausted after a long week and craved their delicious chicken mukhani but didn't want to dress up to sit as a single diner in the restaurant. It's on Broad Street and a 5 minute walk from the Hilton Garden Inn so I decided to grab some take-away. I walked into a PACKED restaurant at 9:45pm. Making me realize that the decision not to dine in was the right one. It was a Friday night so I was not surprised this place is popular. But the noise inside was deafening and I found it to be unpleasant as I watched people lean in and yell to be heard. They may consider trying to dampen the sound. Luckily they didn't have music pounding away in the background otherwise it would have been a lost cause. I then waited. And waited. I had multiple waitstaff walk past me and not acknowledge me for a solid 4-5 minutes. Which isn't a long time, but I clearly was waiting and had to walk up to the bar to try to get attention. Luckily the gentleman at the bar talking to some drinkers noticed and I asked if I could order take away. He handed me a menu and then walked away and proceeded to ignore me. I then had to stop a hostess and ask if I could order my food. She told me to talk to a waiter/waitress but offered to let someone know I was waiting. Another 5 minutes and finally a waiter came and I placed my order. I sat at the bar and my food arrived about 10 minutes later piping hot and generously packed. I had asked for utensils but they forgot and it wasn't worth waiting around to try to get them. I just wanted to get out of the chaotic space and noise as quickly as possible. My deduction is not a full star, more of a half star ding but affected my original 5 star review based on my recent experience. The food is definitely top notch, but make sure to make a reservation especially on a weekend night and keep in mind the noise if you're planning on taking a date!

Yelp
Elevated Indian food. Loved the tandoori tofu! The vegetable korma, saag paneer and lamb shank were all excellent and the mushroom rice was a perfect accompaniment. Rocky was our server and was excellent. I was a bit miffed that they didn't have any Rieslings or wines that pair well with Indian Food. We have Rose Champagne - good but surprised at the lack of wines that are notorious for working well with Indian food.

Yelp
Right on Broad street a short walk from the canal, this place is built into the side of the building and is modern fancy. Its clean and sleek. Depending where you sit you may feel like you are on display like a fish in an aquarium. The menu comes in a box with a drinks list as well as another offering book, forgot what it was duh. The The food is standard Indian for the most part but this is not curry from a late night curry shop, it has a higher quality taste and definitely presentation, although I love late night curry shops. The food quality is good and the service was great, although we were ahead if the dinner rush so less people. We were treated very well. The staff was dressed very well (smart). As many places are in UK, rice and naan are separate charges so do the math. If you want a fancy experience and good food this is the place.

Yelp
I recently had a great evening at Pushkar. Broadstreet isn't exactly the classiest location but once inside you completely forget the clubbers outside. The decor is very sophisticated and has a modern feel to it, and the service from start to finish was fantastic. They have a great selection of cocktails, including classics as well as some brilliant signature cocktails such as the white chocolate martini. The menu is also helpfully divided so that you can go straight to your kind of cocktail. The staff were also great at re-filling our water on the table and making sure we had everything we needed, yet they were never too instrusive and generally left us to enjoy our evening. To start we had the vegetarian platter for two, which included beautiful tandoori paneer and onion and spinach bajis, and every mouthful was a treat. The presentation was also great, making it feel a cut above your average Indian restaurant. Our vegetarian mains also went down extremely well - I had the saag paneer - I've had a lot of saag paneer in my life and this one was a winner! Overall we were really impressed with Pushkar. The food was all delicious, the portions generous and the cocktails were really on point. It's a great option if you're not wanting somewhere ridiculously fancy, but you still want to go out somewhere a little bit special. Expect to pay a bit more than your average Indian restaurant, but the experience you have really reflects the higher price-point, and in my opinion it's definitely worth it!

Yelp
A convenient little restaurant and cocktail bar for that Saturday night out. I called in here with friends, but as we know the food isn't the best Indian out there, we opted to just have cocktails instead, putting us in the mood to go clubbing nearby after. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the waiters whisk them up like they can do it with their eyes closed. We didn't have to wait very long, and got served very quickly. Try the Red Emerald which is a great sweet fruity mix. Most of the cocktails are less than £7.00, so wont break the bank. Although ample seating is available if your after the restaurant food, I would personally recommend trying the curry houses on Soho Road, where the food is better quality. Overall though, good for drinks and cocktails.

Yelp
Visited this place with my wife to celebrate her birthday. Outstanding service, outstanding ambience and outstanding food. A really good experience ! Fully recommended !

Yelp
Craving for Indian food I took my chance and pushed the door of Pushkar for an early dinner. They had just opened their door at 5 PM. This was one of the better meal I had in Birmingham. The highlights were the service and the rose lassi that was exceptional. The food was not exceptional but good and traditional, meaning not being westernized and I appreciated that. I will definitely go back when in town.

Yelp
Favorite Curry House in the entire world! The salmon Dillard and the biryanis are always banging! I can not say enough good about this place and how I look forward to returning. Had curry all over and hands down this is where I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Went here with my parents and a friend and we all loved it so much we kept eating until we couldn't eat anymore. We started with the dahi puri chaat, then had a braised lamb dish, aloo gobi, fish curry, and a duck masala. With some naan bread and rice and that was good for 4 people. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
Birmingham is actually packed with Indian food so I thought I should try it at least once, so went to Pushkar. Not promising from the outside, actually pretty plain, but it gets better on the inside. The food is ok for a first-timer in Indian food. But it's on the expensive side. Some confusing items in the menu especially with the appetizers (you don't get what it's written). Rise and chicken with sauce was good, but rise portion was smaller than I expected. A good meal here would cost you around 100 for two, no drinks included.

Yelp
Love Pushkar! The food is excellent! So far I loved absolutely every dish I had and believe me I had many! the cocktails are fabulous too and even though the place might look a little posh, the staff are wonderfully lovely and the prices are really fair (at least for vegetarians). I always go there when I want Indian food. The general atmosphere is lovely too, they have a beautiful Buddha at the door and the paintings are classy too. Absolutely go there!

Yelp
My husband and I have now been twice, and dream about their curry when we're back home. Azad has been our server both times, and was very friendly with excellent recommendations for our meal. Several reviewers have mentioned the prices - it's definitely more of a treat yo' self option, but a really really good one. This is the best curry we've ever eaten. It's not your typical curry takeaway... It's a full on Northern Indian food experience. You're getting the best- so you'll pay a premium. It's totally worth it.

Yelp
It was my granddaughter's 18th birthday so this seemed an accessible place to book. After struggling with bus route changes which started yesterday I arrived at the destination. It was somewhere I'd passed many times and I was looking forward to it. Reception was great. Light and bright. We were seated at the front with views onto Broad St. First stop, toilets. A long walk but they were clean and pleasant. I must remember to come back and take photos. So sitting with 'the elders' I looked out if the window and people watched as well. Gold fish bowl perhaps. We ordered drinks while we waited for the birthday girl. Then we ordered starters. I declined because I was in the midst of an allergic reaction. The menu looked good. A bound gold leafed booklet with lots of choices. I ordered a Goa fish main meal with steamed rice. Seeing Goa is on my bucket list I thought it was fitting. I requested a separate bill. It was agreed. I had to wait until everyone had finished their starters before my meal arrived. I suppose I could have insisted. The service was good. Food well presented and delicious. They even prepared chicken and chips for a child. I declined a desert not wanting to tempt fate, the allergy. We thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings. Then the bill came. It had to be passed round for people to tick off what they'd ordered. Where was our separate bills. It took too long to sort out and negated the previous experience. Everyone got involved with the argument. There were things on the bill that no one ordered. I investigated and was told that it was their policy not to give separate bills as it caused problems. How do we work out the service charge? All the staff got involved. I argued that we get individual bills everywhere else. They argued that it's the same everywhere on broad st. I paid cash and insisted on a proper receipt which I didn't get. Instead I got a handwritten one. Our waiter showed me his notebook. I asked for the manager. Someone else was called. I walked away and left others to deal with it. I looked for details of service charge and found it in all print in the last page of the menu. I was tired. I left, very disappointed that they'd behaved like that after the excellent service we'd received.

Yelp
Brilliant service, food was spiced well and full of flavour. Went for 21st birthday and they brought a small cake free for the birthday girl! Cocktails were very nice! Some where strong alcohol wise however the flavours were full bodied!

Yelp
Really really excellent Indian food. Pushkar brings great levels of subtlety to India's bold flavours and everything we had for dinner was excellent. The salmon was so delicious I could have eaten three of them. If you're in Birmingham, Pushkar is definitely worth a shot.

Yelp
Pushkar is probably the best Indian restaurant I've eaten at. Visited recently with Adam S. and the family for a celebratory dinner and would say it is a great venue for a special occasion or just a little bit of indulgence! A bustling cocktail bar and award-winning restaurant in the middle of Broad St., Pushkar has a pretty glamorous feel to it. You walk in to be greeted by a serene golden Buddha (as well as friendly staff), which is echoed by the amber light shades and very comfy creamy chairs. The overall look is bright and stylish. This was my second visit to Pushkar; both times the food has been very tasty, with generous portions presented as stylishly as you could want. The (leather bound) menu offers a good selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, along with sides, rice and breads, and is not mind-bogglingly large. This time I opted for one of the restaurant's signature dishes - leg of lamb cooked in a rich sauce. The lamb was delicious, and really tender, the sauce really flavourful. On the side I had saffron rice and a peshwari naan (fave), which was light and sweet. My fellow diners opted for various lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes between them and all were devoured and received glowing reviews. Pushkar offers a range of beers and wines but we all opted to try some cocktails. The cocktail menu features a range of classics and many more 'classics with a twist', including the delicious-sounding white chocolate martini. I chose a ginger mojito - as refreshing as a regular mojito but with a nice bit of gingery warmth. Price-wise, Pushkar isn't cheap - main courses are around £12-£13 and you then have your extras on top. You pay for the quality, however, and I'd say it is worth the money. Cocktails come in at around £7, which I think is fairly standard for the city centre. All in, this meal came to about £30 per person. Throughout the meal the service was excellent. Our attentive waiter introduced himself to us once we were seated, and offered helpful descriptions of each dish as we ordered.

Yelp
Food was delicious(+) and service was okay(-). Maybe a bad day for the waiters hence the 3 star rating ( for me consistency is very important). Greeted by a waiter or host that will take you to a seat (you can get your preference +). Food is out quick which was nice(+). However if you need refills you may need to go to the bar if you are unwilling to wait a long time(-). I'm from the US so maybe I'm biased when it comes to follow ups for refills and cleaning off your table(waited 30 min -). Interactions with the staff and patrons was pleasant! Would I come back...yes.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant inside. Very appealing. The menu is a bit confusing in that at the end of the list of vegetable appetizers it says "chefs selection of mixed vegetable" appetizers.. & and after the meat appetizers it says "mixed chefs selection of meat" appetizers I asked for the first mixed selection (vegetable) and when it came out it was a mix of meat appetizers and one vegetable appetizer which I asked to be included if possible. This is not what I wanted but I ate it anyway and it was very good. The papadum and sauces were excellent.. The diced raw onion with the sauces is a nice touch. The entrée portions here are smallish but satisfying. The rice portions are extremely small especially for sharing two dishes with two people. The chicken Murgh was very bland. The chicken although cooked perfectly did not have any flavor given from the sauce . The chicken Jalfrezi with onions and peppers was very flavorful but not very saucy. FYI: The cost for two people to have an appetizer plate and one entrée each to share is 100 pounds.(with 2 beers each)

Yelp
Pushkar is the definition of fine-dining. Just the ambience they have created with the professional staff and exquisite decor is enough to leave you starry-eyed. They specialise in Punjabi and North Indian cuisine. I went for lunch with a friend and initially I was concerned on how much the bill would break my bank balance, considering their focus on lavish dining. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable their lunch menu is, although this contrasts to their usual menu! I assumed the portions would be small and pretentious, as they usually are in high-end restaurants. So I had a 3-course meal for just £12.95! And the portions were by no means pretentious but the food was delectable! I had the Salmon Dildar because I was intrigued at how salmon could be blended with Indian spices. The result was spectacular! The ras malai was a perfect sweet end to the saag paneer main course. A fine restaurant with extra find food!

Yelp
Lucky me! I experienced my first proper Indian restaurant and it was Pushkar! Being in B'ham for one night after few days business trip in the Brittish countryside, my colleagues were all about having a good Indian dinner in the city. After cross-checking Yelp and TripAdvisor, we naturally ended up at Pushkar. And what an awesome place! we (I) loved everything, from the delicious cocktails to their fabulous food and wine. The place itself is quite sober in terms of decoration; I really appreciated the white and gold all over the place, which makes it bright and elegant in the same time. We ordered different cocktails, all made of gin, and enjoyed them with papodom and different chutneys/dips (they already had me right at that moment, whit the awesome and creamy dips they served!), and with a mix of appetizers. I cannot remember the name of everything my colleagues picked (told you, my first time), but we had some lamb, chicken and paneer. That was already a great start, and we actually decided to share also 4 different mains and sides, rice and naan, so we could try as much as possible from the menu. Again, it was just pure delight ! We had the Chicken tikka masala, prawns, lamb and spinach with paneer. I simply enjoyed absolutely everything! On top, we added 2 bottles of Argentinian Malbec (my fave). It was perfect. The staff was also spot on: friendly, efficient and gave us good recommendations. Definitely a place I'll remember and come back to next time I'm around Birmingham!

Yelp
Recommended and loved by Indians. Unique and delicious. A bit of a fusion. Very good.

Yelp
I've passed Pushkar many times (its well-located on Broad St) but only ventured in yesterday as I usually prefer kitschy decor or sultry lighting- Pushkar is very white and bright. But we really liked it. Although I'm hardly the one to know, the menu seemed different to other Indian restaurants, with some (to me) unfamiliar dishes, which all sounded great. The salmon Dildar (marinated in spices and chargrilled in the tandoor) was exceptionally good, and the selection of main courses was equally good, with some great fish dishes. I think food is more fusion than traditional, and I appreciated the fact that there was a greater choice of 'dry' marinated dishes and not just plates filled with sauce. My partner has eaten in many more Indian restaurants than me and he thinks this could be one of his favourites. To top it off, everything is very well presented, the staff were very friendly and attentive and a mistake on the bill was easily remedied. I think that the price does match the quality of the food, and although some of the cocktails seemed a bit expensive the majority were around £6-7.

Yelp
Food is no question outstanding. Go a few times and they greet you as if you're a friend. The attention to detail makes you feel like you're at a 5 Michelin Star restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing. Probably the best Indian I've had in the UK ever.. From the place settings (which were really lovely) to the service they gave us (amazing and just the right amount of attention) to the meals themselves (the traditional Biryani served with a cap of pastry to keep it moist) it really was a great meal, a great experience and a thoroughly enjoyable restaurant..

Yelp
I found this place to be outstanding in both service quality food. There were many options to choose from and the ones we chose were spectacular well done bravo.

Yelp
Outstanding dinner with a very friendly staff! Great wine selection, and also very good desserts. Appetizer sampler was great, as was the Salmon, Lamb Rogan Josh and Saag Paneer. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Very nice layout and presentation. Menu is very varied, lots of twists on traditional Indian favourites. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Good selection of cocktails. Beautiful layout, beautiful food, great service and great drinks. Tasty tip, the salmon dildar is amazing! Never had better salmon anywhere.

Yelp
This was a lovely restaurant in the middle of Broad Street. We started off with a cocktail in the bar, then had a lovely prepared meal with great service! I had the lamb shanks which were lovely and my wife had the tandoori king prawns which she is still raving about! Dessert of Cree brûlée finished it off well!

Yelp
Food ok, service good, but they fail to tell you about the 12.5% service charge! For that reason I would not recommend to my corporate colleagues or return!

Yelp
By far one of the most creative Indian restaurants. Fantastic service and even more delicious food, I would highly recommend!

Yelp
This is one of my favourite restaurants, I have been here many times. It a very special restaurant to me as this is where my husband proposed. The cocktails are amazing and there is a wide variety. I love the decor, it's has cosy orange tinged ligthing. I always have the gol guppe and my husband has the king prawns. So tasty! I don't normally rate Indian restaurant food very highly, but Pushkar is very good. Main course I have dal makhani, so creamy and delicious. Choc cake for dessert. Winner.

Yelp
What a great restaurant. This was my second visit to Birmingham, and I was so happy to return to Pushkar. I happened upon it during my first trip to the city while looking for a decent place to eat in the middle of a bustling area with tons of loud bars and so-so restaurants. So glad I found this place. Best ambience in the center city. Fantastic food and service - especially Azad who was amazingly attentive and friendly. The Vesper Martini is delicious. Pushkar made for a great, welcoming, delicious experience while away from home. A must-do every time I'm in Birmingham...

Yelp
Good Indian food with outstanding service and upscale ambiance. All dishes were pretty good. I would rate service and ambiance 4stars.

Yelp
I have eaten the food here on many occasions. The food, the service and atmosphere is some of the best you will get in the city of birmingham .

Yelp
My mother and I were in town for only one night and we are so happy that we went here for the best Indian food we have ever had! Service was great and atmosphere was comfortable and sophisticated.

Yelp
Pushkar's on Broad Street is an absolutely exceptional Indian restaurant, even in Birmingham, the city famed for such cuisine. Whilst prices make it definitely a once in a while treat rather than a regular haunt, it is a great choice for any special occasions. I've used it on Valentine's Day and an anniversary, and on both occasions it's been completely befitting. The food is superb; I've had my fair share of curry, but you can really taste the difference here; if you think you've tasted the best available curry, think again. When I went for Valentine's Day, they had a set menu, which, whilst pricey, presented an extremely tasty and unusual fusion of British and Indian cuisines that was something I wouldn't normally have chosen, but would now definitely consider when I go again. The interior is suited to the high quality food, an all white effect conveying class and elegance and creating an intimate, romantic atmosphere to enjoy your meal in.
