Puzzle Hostel

I've stayed at the Puzzle Hostel twice over six nights and was not disappointed. The price cannot be beat and the staff are very friendly. The building is a little old, but it gives the place charm. The beds are comfortable and the wifi is very fast. My only complaint would be that the kitchen needs more cleaning. Otherwise it's my favorite hostel in Bucharest.

A great hostel near the city center. Very helpful hostel owners. I am a student from India, I was visiting Romania when my wallet with my visa got stolen.. The hostel were very helpful and offered us a great amount of help for a room during that troubled time.. Very near to all embassies during times of emergency!! THANK YOU PUZZLE HOSTEL

Very friendly, dedicated and helpful staff, always open to help and accomodate the clients, affordable prices, safe environment, clean, close to all important points, easy to find for tourists first time in Bucharest. I would definetly recommend if you want to travel on a budget and be close to the centre and train station. A big plus is being able to self cater and having a laundrette and clothes dryer in the hostel, also morning coffee/tea provided:) Plenty of space to relax, also is good for entertainment too, quite quirky, character building in the most historical road of Bucharest.

I don't recommend this place. The welcoming was good from the guy of the reception but after, I don't know if he is the tenant but the old man was very unpleasant with us and made us feel not welcome. The common room is old and you can't drink in it except if you order at the bar (which is dirty), the room was ok but the curtains were useless. So I think the best is to pay more for a better place.

I’d recommend this place to travellers that seek for a cheap place to sleep over. The bunks are comfortable and stable and with a pair of earplugs you can have a nice long rest. There’s also a kitchen and a common room with a bar if you want to share a chat and a beer with other people.

Very nice and fun hostel in the north of the city center. The area is more popular to locals with some nice bars around. You have a very nice bar just across the street (called "J'ai Bistrot"). Also the train station is nearby and the old houses around are very nice. You have to know that breakfast is self service (e.g. you have to cook your eggs). But it's very cheap also. Just 1 euro more. It could be cleaner, but that didn't bother me too much.

CAUTION - BED BUGS Despite being conveniently located and having a nice staff this hostel lacks hygiene. The sheets provided do not cover the entire (old and dirty) matress and so you're easy prey for bed bugs, even in the top bunk! I can rule out having been bitten at another place since this was my first night and I actually found a bug crawling on my stuff the next day (see attached photo). In addition, the air-con is switched on only after 21:30 but even by 8am it was still unbearably hot. Since there are also no windows in this room for more than 10 people everyone can imagine about the air quality.

Great location and it was really cheap, but those are the only bright sides to it. It was pretty loud when trying to sleep, the room we had drew air from where people were smoking this hung about head level or around the height of the second bunk. The pictures on Google are a little dated as well and the bar was non functioning. Overall you get what you pay for...
