15 Best Hiking Trails in Sedona, According to Locals
"A 4.1-mile loop (with a shorter 2.2-mile option) that departs from the Schuerman Mountain trailhead behind Sedona High School, following the Scorpion Trail into the Pyramid Trail for sweeping western views of Sedona looking east—showcasing Cathedral, Bell Rock, Thunder Mountain and more." - Evie Carrick

Great hike next to Pyramid Mountain. Beautiful views. Parking for about 10 cars at Trailhead. Recommend turning right going Counterclockwise to follow scorpion trail first then merging into Pyramid trail. Watch for the markers as there are mini trails that deviate from the main trail. Difficulty level medium with some climbs and drops. Relatively flat overall. Great scenery. 2.1 miles around.

Skip the crowded trails for sunset and come here instead! I saw one other person on a Saturday evening sunset hike and the views were fantastic almost the entire time. I recommend doing the loop counterclockwise for a gradual start but the end will be steep downhill. I spent 1 hr 45 min but stopped many times to enjoy the views and take photos. Download Alltrails app, free account works fine, look up "Pyramid to Scorpion Trail Loop" and you can pull up the map to check while hiking so you know if you've gone off trail.

Started by taking the scorpion trail, reasonably easy to start, fabulous views. Gets tougher, then joining the pyramid trail down is very steep, steep drops and a bit of a scramble at times. But definitely worth it .

Loved this hike. Beautiful views, some shade towards the backside, rugged rocky terrain. One area with a steep climb. We went clockwise so we would climb up instead of going down.

We came in and started on Scorpion trail and came around down Pyramid. Amazing views around each side of the mountains.

We hiked the Pyramid to Scorpion Trail loop. The hike was easy to moderate and then some places were a bit hard. During the hike I didn't see any wildlife, someone told me that they generally don't come out due to the heat in the afternoons. However the view of the cathedral red rock from this trail was amazing!!! There are no restrooms at or near the trailhead, also carry enough water with you.

Fun short trail. Make sure you have an app with the route as there is one spot where you can get off the loop trail. One steep section but it's not very long. I suggest going clockwise as you go up the steep section and once you get up it it's a pretty runnable trail.

Unmatched views of the mountains and valleys below. Easy access to the scenic byways and a few spots to pull off and take pictures and go hiking.
If you have the chance to see this area you have to see it. Looking at the pictures simply doesn't go for enough to appreciate its beauty. This area is probably one of the best areas to see in Central Arizona.
