My trip to the Pyramid of Menkaure at Mid-May and I’m still buzzing till now. Out of the three big ones at Giza, this is the smallest, but honestly it gave me the best experience by far. The moment you step in, you’re hit with this super steep, narrow passage with wooden stairs bolted over the ancient stone; it’s tight, you have to duck in places, and it feels properly adventurous. I loved every second of squeezing through corridors built 4,500 years ago.
It was busy the day I went, but the flow was surprisingly smooth; people took turns, everyone was polite, and the guards kept things moving without any stress. Emerging into the burial chamber and realizing you’re standing inside a structure that old, surrounded by millions of tons of stone, is just unreal. The sense of history is overwhelming.
If you’re in Cairo and can snag one of the limited tickets to go inside Menkaure, do it. It’s hot, a little physical, and not for the claustrophobic, but for me it was the absolute highlight of the entire plateau. Totally worth it. 100/10!
