One of the most impressive landmarks in Kaohsiung to us. The fort was somehow well preserved and offered a great view, not only to Cijin island, but also the city downtown. Free admission to everyone and a short steep walk from the carpark was required.

Well preserved historical site; during the second world war.
Entrance to the site is free; but do be aware of the non-railed access. If you are not careful, you may fall from heights. Children to be supervised for safety reason. Not friendly to mobility challenged visitors.

Panoramic 360 degree view of the ocean, the port and the beach. A few mins away from the lighthouse. 20 mins walk from the pier; easy climb and family friendly

An amazing piece of history that also provides the best view (debatable) of the South China Sea as that's how they kept an eye on the trade ships.
You walk up a short hill to the fort and then there are lots of fun stairs to climb. Great view of the city scape and my favorite spot on Cijin. Free entry as well, like all the tourist spots here.

Cihou Fort is a historic fort in the Cijin District of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, which formerly guarded the northern entrance to Kaohsiung Harbor.
From the fort, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the South China Sea as well as the Kaohsiung cityscape on the other side.

Amazing spot overlooking the South China Sea. We hired and electric bicycle cart that seated about 4 people and rode down to the fort. You have to walk along the old fort itself, which is nicer anyway. The sea is very rough and there are some locations that are off limits because people have been swept away by waves in the past.

It was an amazing adventure to be on top of the mountain. You can see wonderful view of the ocean and the city itself. Being able to explore the structures feels like going back hundred years ago.
