2 hiking trails with postcard-perfect views in Asia - SilverKris

"A 7,556 m peak and the highest in Sichuan province, access normally requires flying to Chengdu followed by a lengthy land transfer to Laoyulin, the common trailhead. Climbs and pilgrimage-style treks are physically demanding and often organized as 11‑day itineraries with 5–6 hours of trekking each day, routing through valleys such as Moxi and Gyazela. Highlights include colourful flower displays in lower valleys during spring and summer and visits to local religious sites; the mountain is best for those seeking high‑altitude spiritual rewards and dramatic alpine scenery. Optimal times to go are late May to early June or mid‑November for autumn colours, and locally led operators typically incorporate immersive cultural experiences." - Samantha David

Green mountain and clear waterfalls. 青城山is locate outside chengdu, about 1.5 hr drive. We got picked up around 830 arrived 10, it was hot by then. It’s a lot walking up n down. We didn’t make all the way to the top. We did take the cable car great view. By the time we were coming down it started raining. I’d say visit when is not hot maybe in the fall or spring.

Nice hike! If you’re not a frequent, suggest to take the cable car up, walk all the way up and then head down. We took 4.5hours with rest stops and photo taking. The front mountain is mainly for temples, the back mountain with more nature spots.

There is the front and the back Quingcheng. The front is unesco heritage site, lots of temples, very very touristy. The back mountain has beautiful bridges over the streams, temples, a boat along a gorge, impossibly steep steps, a rattly cable car and the most breathtaking views. Both have millions and millions of steps. And when you think the steps had ended, there is another million of them. I reached the top kung fu panda style. We much preferred the back mountain. We stayed at the end of the valley and started early from the “other” entrance — the one with bridges and streams. Even with excruciating steps, it was magical. We finished the route at the main entrance. It was good to arrive into the ancient town in time for dinner!

Not for the faint of heart! It is very humid and very steep. It is a beautiful mountain and cool temples disbursed through the trails. We are relatively in shape and young-ish, and this was a difficult hike. Even after you take the cable car to the top of the mountain, there is still significant walking. Lots of signs about the high oxygen content, since the area is so lush. Very beautiful area. I wish there were more signs about the temples.

Pretty good for hiking, well marked trails. Qingcheng Shan is one of the birthplaces of daoism, a lot of temples were in some well known TV shows. Definitely a fun experience to visit.

This place is dirty, poorly maintained, visually underwhelming, and way overpriced. You pay for entry fee, then you can pay more money for shortcuts through inconvenient patches. The food quality is inversely correlated with altitude while price is directly correlated. The routes are not safe due to uneven steps, some of which are loose. The temples are all filled with tourist shops and food, so it’s not exactly an immersive experience.

Was there today ,June 11/2019. Staying at local hotel with wife and friends.taxi was 10 rmb.to mountain.. Walked up the less crowded trail.went back down cable car .entrance fee was 80 RMB.cable car was 35..this is a tourist spot but to me well worth it as it's Taoist history. Just don't expect quiet. As every where in China .all kinds of small shops at every temple .many signs in English with a brief information on the dieties was a pleasant surprise.was a work out of a walk up..stop often and rest.resume.(about 3? hours to go up)
