QT Canberra (Canberra, Australian Capital Territory) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The businesslike tower that contains QT Canberra gives little hint of what’s inside; like all the QT hotels, it’s stylish to an extreme. This one plays on the capital’s history, immersing guests in a world of playful political kitsch, from the images of famous politicians to a design style in its restaurant and bars that’s almost parodically high-powered. The rooms are sunnier but no less playfully elegant, and they’re furnished with all the comforts of a much more self-serious luxury hotel. Capitol Bar & Grill adds Italian flavors to a farm-to-table Canberran menu, and Lucky’s Speakeasy feels like the kind of place where late-night deals get done." - Tablet Hotels

Lovely hotel and good location. We stayed in a twin room which the website states has 2 x king single beds - not so! They were normal single beds so my tall teenager was hanging off the end. The beds were very comfortable however. The room was really lovely, spotlessly clean, and lovely amenities were available within the room. We requested a room with a lake view (I didn't even know if this was possible) and our room did indeed have a view of the lake and Parliament House. There is some noise from the street but it wasn't too bad. All of the staff we came into contact with were wonderful- very friendly and excellent service in all areas. A special shout out to Matthew who checked us in on arrival 🌞. All of the food was wonderful - we ate breakfast and had room service. Negatives: Minibar was SUPER expensive so we avoided that, and there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Also - $35 a day for hotel parking when we are already guests at the hotel is just outrageous. We chose to use local parking instead.

Review: Stylish vibe, but let down by dated rooms and breakfast policy Overall Rating: 3/5 Stars My stay at the Qt Canberra was a bit of a mixed bag. While the hotel has a cool concept, there are several areas that need improvement to match its reputation. Rooms & Service The design of the hotel is definitely unique, but the rooms themselves felt quite dated. You can really see the age of the furnishings, and they lack the freshness you’d expect at this price point. Furthermore, the housekeeping service was only mediocre—it wasn't bad, but it lacked the thoroughness and attention to detail I expected. Breakfast: High quality, poor transparency The breakfast experience was the biggest disappointment, despite the food itself. On the positive side, the meals were delicious and beautifully presented. Qualitatively, the kitchen does a great job. However, I was disappointed to find no breakfast buffet; it was à la carte only. What bothered me most was the lack of transparency: additional drinks, such as a second coffee, were charged extra. This was never mentioned during the ordering process, making the extra costs an unpleasant surprise on the final bill. Summary: The food tastes good, but the lack of a buffet and the hidden charges for basic items like extra coffee—without any prior warning—felt like poor service. Combined with the aging rooms, it makes for a stay that doesn't quite live up to its potential.

I can not comment on the hotel itself, this review is just for the extremely underwhelming NYE 2025/26 event. I would give 0/10 for this overhyped party, None of the advertised features were achieved. The whole event has been very embarrassing for the QT brand overall. I don't think (hope) they will do it again next year. Basic points: $199pp Included: - 1 welcome glass of bubbles on arrival - 2 grazing stations with some cheese, bread and olives, empty after 30 minutes, not restocked. -1 main bar with 3 bartenders overwhelmed by probably 200 guests, waiting time +30 min - 2nd Cocktail bar without adequate stock to provide the 3 offered drinks on the menue, choice between Prosecco or sparkling water in cocktail for 90 min. - Canapees infrequently rotating, not as advertised in the food menue and very low quality. Parts of the menue were not available at all. - Entertainment was not possible at all as the bar quey was occupying the dance floor and DJ area as well. - Too many people for venue, no standing tables, guests had to sit on floor to eat. Guests were expecting to enjoy the fireworks somehow but this was only possible as reflections in the windows. Many guest left disappointed within the first 60 minutes, we managed 2hrs somehow, but left for another venue at 10:30 in order to rescue some celebration fun. Summary: - More than underwhelming - Complete rip-off, not worth the money - Disappointing night

I want to start by saying I love the QT brand hotels, I’ve stayed and LOVED, Perth, Melbourne & Gold Coast all exceptional and this is the quality you expect when you stay at a QT hotel (they have set this standard themselves). Well except Sadly Canberra. When I exited the lift after work at 6pm I was greeted by 3 sacks of dirty laundry at 1 end of the corridor and at the other end 2 beds on there side (just outside my door). Not what you expect to see at this price point (felt a little motelish) I feel they bought another old hotel in ACT slapped the QT name on it, done some minor works to the rooms and though that the name would carry it….. it may work unless you’ve stayed at other locations and know what you should be getting. Sadly these rooms aren’t in great shape, the shower felt like I needed to wear flip flops as the tiles were discoloured and scummy with water marks all over them (I know it’s a shower but this felt like a public shower) & the water constantly flowing onto the floor out of the shower. The room felt tired and was very obvious needs a major overhaul and nice furniture can’t hide this, I was lucky to have a balcony and fresh air…. But out side the trimmings were is disarray. The door in the bathroom had seen better days and was split and hard to close, the main door hinge was filthy and the trimming on the cabinet had come off leave bare wood, Thea e are the things that would never be seen in a QT hotel. From such an amazing Brand like the QT, this hotel in there portfolio hurts the brand, I’ve stayed here twice recently and first time I didn’t write a review as I thought perhaps I was in a bad mood so I didn’t and thought I would give them another go to try and change my mind. The service from the team was fantastic. I’ve been travelling to canberra a lot and I can say I won’t stay here again. There are certainly newer and better hotels to stay at for this price point.

Not a great experience, someone's underwear still in the room. Fan in the bathroom wasn't working, broken lamp and the internet was very patchy. Also beyond they're control but with the current construction happening nearby and the police station so close all you hear is sirens and hammers not to mention housekeeping or something making banging noises inside the hotel in early morning. Restaurant wasn't open either so not a pleasant stay to say the least robes supplied but they're obviously recycled which is off putting as well.

Google
What an amazing experience. The price for this place is ridiculous. Should be 3 times more expensive. Staff is amazing. Rooms are pristine, spacious and well appointed. The food is world class. AND free breakfast with a great menu. Do yourself a favor if you're visiting Canberra and stay here.

We stayed at the QT Canberra for 4 days on the 6th October to the 10th. The dining room staff and bar staff were excellent but sadly the Reception staff and the cleanliness of our floor were the reason for the score. When we eventually got our room we caught the lift to our floor and outside the lift the floor was filthy and need vacuuming. It was never done in our 4 days. On the second day they replaced our towels but only the two towels. We only had two towels in the bathroom. We rang housekeeping, no answer, we rang the concierge desk, no answer, we the rang the reception, no answer, so I went down to reception and the one receptionist was tied up with a guest. There now was a line up to get to the reception. Eventually the receptionist went out the back to get another receptionist. When I eventually got to see a receptionist, he was abrupt and not happy being disturbed. When I explained that I couldn’t get anybody to answer the phones he said we were busy. Sadly he was not busy because he was out the back. I told him we only had two towels and left not happy. A member from housekeeping attended our room with two sheets, no towels. We eventually got our full set of towels. On the third day my wife got in the shower in the morning, no hot water. Rang reception and found the whole hotel had no hot water. I had to also have a cold shower. Sometime later the hot water came on too late. Nothing from the hotel with an apology. I will not stay there again.

Didn't expect a 0 star service from a 4 star hotel surely in the heart of the nation. The location is superb but the room we had the curtain was broken called the reception and was told maintenance was closed for the holidays and could change rooms but had to pack our stuff and opted to just suck it up. The bathroom walls were pukes marks near the bins never cleaned It was gross and the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly The carpeted room was stinking and old out of style desperate for a new lease of life I won't book again as I expected more from them considering I have stayed at QT Newcastle and it was superb and was hoping for a replica . I was disappointed. Will i stay again? NAH Will I recommend to friends? HELL NO! Wll tell them to run for dear good night whenever they see QT Canberra. I would have given them a zero star if was possible. Didn't warrant the price tag and it was a day light robbery in the nation's capital surely thuggery facing the parliament no fear or shame.

Yelp
The service was fine, and the restaurant attached to the lobby really is that good. When I booked my hotel there was no information that told me that there was a huge construction site right outside. I went to work every morning which made the stay reasonable, but Monday - Saturday the construction crews worked from 7AM sharp to about 430PM. The construction also majorly screwed up my walking route to work as I had to cross multiple streets in L shaped patterns. This would have been fine, but crosswalks in Canberra are green for about 5 seconds. The fridge was OK, but filled with minibar junk I wouldn't touch. No complimentary anything. Bathroom was clearly built by UK designers as the shower overflowed onto the bathroom floor and the glass window which could have easily been 1-2 feet longer or use a door (what a crazy idea!) was just short for no reason so I had to mop my floor every morning. There's no breakfast option as I mentioned before there's a restaurant in the lobby, but you pay a la carte for everything, even coffee. It's good, but honestly just having a working coffee machine with one or two pots going is normal for even the most basic of motels. I would give the place 3 stars had it been half the price I paid. They really need to refund people's money if they expect them to stay in a place that has construction noise most of the day and construction that makes foot and car traffic awful. It's not really near anything as most of the places you want/need to go are due north or northeast of the hotel. QT seems out of the way for absolutely no reason, I really don't know why I stayed here.

Yelp
If I could give this a 3.8 or 3.9 rating, I would. The hotel staff are nice and willing to help. The hotel restaurant and bar are good. If you just want drinks at the bar you need to pay with a credit or debit card as the employees don't want to go behind the front desk to get you change. If you have the exact amount, you're good. The hotel was recently renovated in 2018. However, each room seems to have a different thermostat from new to old, and the people I traveled with said their room AC either worked well or didn't. The cleanliness of the hotel was ok. There cobwebs in one corner of the room, and the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in a while. Overall, it was ok, but if you're looking for a hotel in Canberra, do your research.

Yelp
What can I say, funky QT style, great room minus bath with full length shower. Good view, and seamless streaming via QR code. Good check in and amazing service at capital bar and grill. Love the funkiness. Keep it up!

Yelp
This trip was fantastic. The staff at the front desk were so friendly and helpful. I was able to store my bags to collect after my conference once I had checked out. The customer service was a real plus. Buffet breakfast is an absolute must! Such a delicious range of foods from cereal and yoghurt to omelettes to breakfast pastries and a choice of coffee, tea or juices. You also have the option of ordering an espresso from the Barista. My bed was so comfortable with gigantic fluffy pillows. Housekeeping did a fabulous job of cleaning my room and making the bed after the first night. The view was lovely with a little balcony. The real attention to detail was the free movies that guests could access on the tv in their room. Often you just get free to air tv and have to pay for movies but there was a good selection of films with some new release choices. I really would stay here again!

Yelp
This hotel is 10km from Canberra airport and right in the heart of the Canberra CBD, only a few minutes' walk from the Department store, cinema and restaurants. It is also only a very short drive to the Parliament House, National archives, Art Gallery, Questacon and more. It really is in a top location. We would describe this as a luxury boutique hotel that would be considered quite 'kitsch', mostly of a political pop art style decoration. This can be observed as you enter the hotel, with art representing political figures, a hall of mirrors, reception staff in power suits and all round clever theming. The hotel as 205 rooms, with plenty of spaced and featuring some cool art. Rooms have a bar fridge complete with supplies, a coffee machine and kettle as well as snacks and products for sale. We also really appreciated the free wi-fi and complimentary movies. The hotel has an onsite bar called "Lucky's", a barber in the hotel for shave, beard trim or haircut and there's also free on site free parking. It is a short 5 minute walk to plenty of great restaurants in the city, but if you'd prefer to eat in, the hotel has Capitol bar and grill with an Italian themed concept devised by food director Robert Marchetti with entrees like oysters, steak tartare and antipasto plates to name a few. For the mains, they have plenty of seafood options of seafood and amazing cuts of steak cooked on the wood fired grill. It is in this restaurant where the buffet breakfast is served. As far as hotels go, this was a good buffet - deli meats freshly sliced, baked goods, roasted granola and fresh fruit and yoghurt, as well as hot food. There's regular tea and coffee, but if you'd prefer a proper latte or cappuccino, it comes at an extra cost. We stayed for the package deal "Rome: city and Empire" which is extremely good value. Priced at $245 + (as the website states), but ours was $225 on the Sunday. This was for the room, on site parking, movies, buffet breakfast for 2, 2 tickets to the Rome Exhibition at the Australian museum and an exhibition book. This exhibition brings over 200 objects from the British Museum to Australia. So, if you're exploring the nation's capital, this is a great place to stay and we recommend the Rome package Note - there is no pool, spa or fitness centre (something I normally look for in a hotel

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at QT Canberra. The staff were friendly and helpful, but could have been a bit more accommodating and approaching when we first entered. The room was nice and clean, and had modern decor. The location is also quite convenient near the CBD. The price also isn't too expensive. Would recommend this hotel, had a nice stay.

Yelp
After I heard they had opened a QT in Canberra, and our experience in QT Sydney was so good, I had to stay here the next time I was down. First this place is a lot bigger than the Sydney one. No surprise really, they have more to work with, but it also means a lot of the detail gets lost in the space. Spend some time in the lobby and your room and you'll start to notice little things like odd art work, entrance signs to the rooms, even simple things like hat racks that look like art. All this gels with the Sydney one, which just packs the same stuff into a much tinier space so is in your face. Standard rooms are a good size (much bigger than the Hilton, which is my benchmark for the smallest rooms ever), but the bathrooms are white and a bit stark, unlike its sister hotel which tends to black and muted. The service is great, attentive without being over-bearing. Their restaurant is good, as is the service, but more on that elsewhere. Didn't make it to the bar, maybe next time. There are a tonne of great cafes nearby, so if you aren't up for their breakfast (I've found all hotel breakfasts are over-priced), there is A. Baker and a few others within 20 metres. My recommendation is if you like a little bit quirky with some thought behind the decor, try QT out.

Yelp
Hands down best value for money hotel I've stayed at. Rooms are ample sized, the beds are fantastic, great decor and the breakfast is awesome! Only gripes were the water pressure in the shower was a little weak, but you put up with it to stay at such a great hotel. Will be back again... and again!

Yelp
The most underwhelming stay across my entire experience with QT Hotels. We checked in for a two-night stay. When we arrived at the room - the bed was made up and the room appeared to be clean and restocked. But the bathroom, whilst restocked with towels and toiletries, had not been cleaned - the toilet in particular. The bathroom smelt particularly bad and the toilet appeared to have just been used. The floor and shower recess was littered with the hair of previous guests. Chunks of toothpaste were still stuck to the bowl of the sink. The towels appeared to be clean. I took a wash cloth to wet and wipe the inside of the sink down; when I opened the small towel, I realised that there were streaks of faeces dried onto it. I dropped this towel onto the floor of the bathroom beneath the sink, hopeful that this would be switched for a clean one on the daily room service. I took time to clean the bathroom as quickly and easily as possible, wiping surfaces down with toilet tissue, and just got on with the afternoon. When we left for dinner, I let a gentleman on the front desk know that our bathroom, particularly the toilet, had not been cleaned. He offered to send someone up to fix it. I said that it wouldn't be necessary; that I had done it myself. He made no further enquiries as to the state of the room, let alone apologies. Given that equivocal response, I notified the hotel again of the problem via email. There was no response and they made no attempt to call the phone number associated with the booking. When there was still no response, I called them on the first morning there to check that they had received my email. They said that they had tried to call me (I had no missed calls). They wanted to offer us a change of rooms; I replied that it would not fix the problem of me having already cleaned up another guest's mess, but would increase the likelihood of me having to do it twice. She said that they would offer me a bottle of wine. I let her know that I don't drink. She then offered to send housekeeping up to check the room. The farce continued from there, where I had to re-explain what was wrong with the bathroom. The housekeeping manager didn't know the word 'faeces', which made for a really weird moment in conversation. The housekeeping manager then suggested that it was because it was a public holiday so the room must have been missed; I responded that the room was re-stocked and had clearly not been missed, but simply not cleaned. In summary, our love affair with QT has come to a screeching halt. There's not much that you can do to redeem a freshly used and carelessly cleaned hotel bathroom. Add to that small rooms, no extractor fan in the bathroom, and a chilled-to-cold hot buffet breakfast - and you're down to two stars. But here's the clincher: have staff who are rude and defensive in their responses, and you're down to one star. I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me.

Yelp
Love this hotel! The decor is amazing and the staff are really friendly. Good sized rooms with fancy bath products! I have found my new hotel in Canberra.

Yelp
Only hotel I will stay in when visiting Canberra. Stylish rooms, affordable parking, amazing dining, friendly service and free movies. Only gripe I am black level priority rewards and never get upgraded but imagine the hotel is usually very busy. My cousin even gas her wedding here and it was great!!

Yelp
Classy Canberra hotel. Although QT was a little hard to get to (so many round about type streets) the hotel is impressive. Kitsch fit out, really funky feel& a nice bar down stairs. Standard room even had a balcony with views over canberra. Added surprise of a nespresso coffee machine in the room. Main disappointment was the bar had run out of tomato juice so they were unable to make a Bloody Mary. This place is value for money considering it's location in town.

Yelp
My partner surprised me with reservations here the night we got engaged. The staff were in cahoots with him, and arranged for chocolate strawberries, wine and swans folded out of towels to appear in our room while we were at dinner. When we got back, we stopped in at the fabulous hotel bar for a cocktail, and were rewarded with celebratory champagne and passionfruit shots--on top of a totally comped bar tab. We had wonderful views of the lake and the arboretum from our balcony and had a good chuckle at the odds and ends available in the room's mini bar (can you say do it yourself cocktail mix?), along with the clever décor throughout the building. The bathroom was quite modern and spacious, although the bright lighting in there was a sharp contrast to the low lighting available in the room itself--a few more lamps or some brighter bulbs would have been a worthwhile addition. That aside, I can't wait to go back next year--I hope there are anniversary plans in the works!

Yelp
QT lost our luggage! Reception would not answer and when they did they did not call back to communicate what steps they had taken to rectify the debacle.
