QT Queenstown (Queenstown, South Island) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"As resort towns go, it’s hard to beat Queenstown, New Zealand, positioned on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, with easy access to all manner of adventures, from skiing to water sports and beyond. It’s a smallish town, but features its fair share of chic urban style — including QT Queenstown, a boutique hotel that wouldn’t look out of place in many a larger city. The rooms are not just stylish but plush as well, for maximum adventure recovery; the views of the lake and/or the mountains are invigorating, as is the cuisine at the market-style Bazaar." - Tablet Hotels

We absolutely loved our stay at QT Queenstown! The hotel itself is fantastic, but what really made it special were all the little extras. They offer a free shuttle bus you can book to different attractions around Queenstown, which saved us a fortune on Ubers and taxis. Such a great perk!||The location is awesome too — only about a 7-minute walk into town (bit of a hill on the way back, but nothing too bad).||Every morning we grabbed a free barista coffee on our way out, and every afternoon we came back to a free cocktail or glass of wine. Such a nice way to start and end the day. The turndown service was also really sweet — each night they left a little treat in the room, which we loved.||The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, and the rooms were modern, clean and super comfy. Honestly, 10/10 all round.||Would definitely recommend QT to anyone visiting Queenstown — it really made our trip extra enjoyable!

The room itself was good and comfortable. Room service was fine – we had a pizza that was tasty enough (not amazing, not terrible) and a complimentary chocolate, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, breakfast was a real let-down – one of the worst continental breakfasts I’ve had anywhere. Yoghurt should not be served warm, and as an Australian hotel brand I’d expect staff to at least know what a piccolo is. Instead, I was served the most burnt, foul-tasting coffee I’ve ever had. The complimentary daytime coffee cart is a great idea in theory, but if the coffee isn’t drinkable, it’s wasted. Housekeeping was also disappointing. One day we left at 8 am with the “make up my room” sign on the door, only to return at 3:30 pm to find nothing had been done. This isn’t the US or Europe in summer – in New Zealand the room should be serviced in the middle of the day. Parking is a mixed bag. It’s great that the hotel has a car park, but it’s tiny and difficult to use when full – even the hotel’s own cars couldn’t fit within the lines. The number plate recognition system for entry/exit is a smart idea, but it’s very slow and only works if you approach the camera at exactly the right angle. Overall, the stay was fine, but for the QT brand I expected much better

A great location with a beyond amazing view. We got to enjoy lakeside views every morning while we ate an amazing breakfast. I recommend adding the breakfast on to your stay. The rooms are comfortable with a phone streaming option available. This was especially nice in the winter since it gets dark so early. The staff is beyond lovely and helpful. A nice touch is the cocktail hour and the coffee hour. It provided a great atmosphere to staying here. I would definitely recommend on your stay in Queenstown!

Usually a huge fan of the QT Hotel chain, specifically the QT Melbourne. However, was left a little disappointed with our stay back in February. I am making this review after recently staying in the Melbourne QT, in order to make a comparison. Firstly, the difference in service is abundantly clear, the Rooftop at the QT in Melbourne is vibrant, charming, and the staff are personable, friendly, and always willing to go above and beyond. This same energy was no where to be found during our stay in Queenstown; I understand that their appeared to be a function adjacent to the bar but when you're spending $600+ on a nights stay a little cordiality would have been well received. I am not sure if it was because we were younger in our early 20s that we were disregarded but the environment just felt uninviting and cold. Turning to the good however, a common theme with QT hotels is their exceptional rooms, spotlessly clean, endowed with fresh sheets and a clean cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed the the room greatly and were pleasantly surprised by the meticulous attention to detail. Lastly, I would like to reflect that the disappointment in service does not extend to the reception who were very welcoming and extremely friendly, and were helpful at every step of the way. Unfortunately, it just appeared to be a few hiccups along the way that made the stay feel just a little less welcoming.

We booked a total of 4 nights — 3 nights under one itinerary and an additional night under another. Upon arrival on our first day (around 7pm), we were assigned a lake view room (room type we booked) located right next to the reception. Unfortunately, the noise level was quite disruptive, with frequent foot traffic, people running along the corridor, and sounds coming from the reception area throughout our stay. For the final night, we switched to a different room type (as booked) — an alpine view. Despite having specifically noted that we did not prefer a corner room, and receiving confirmation from the hotel that we would not be placed in one, we were assigned the very last room at the corner. This was disappointing, especially given the prior communication. We had hoped for a more restful and accommodating stay.
