QT Wellington (Wellington, North Island) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"New Zealand’s hotels generally stress their outdoor and adventure connections, but QT Wellington, set by the side of the capital’s harbor, is a tribute to the city’s contemporary arts and culture scene. The rooms are fun and colorful, decorated with murals and bold, vibrant prints, and they’re quietly luxe as well, with necessities like Nespresso machines and Bose sound systems. There’s a dramatic indoor pool in a sunlit atrium, and the heart of the hotel’s social life is the Hippopotamus Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, where chef Jiwon Do marries French flavors and local New Zealand ingredients." - Tablet Hotels

Lovely hotel, let down by poor customer service. The hotel feels cosy and quirky, it’s in a great location near Te Papa, with beautiful views from the restaurant on level 3 out to Wellington harbour. I loved walking through the lobby and looking at all the art. We had a Superior King room, which was small but very nicely decorated, with a very comfy bed. |What let us down was poor customer service. We had to ask for hand soap in our room (twice) - (I saw that my sister’s room had this and moisturiser - we did not ). We had to ask for our room to be serviced as they missed us. There was no explanation of how room servicing works - apparently you have to put the sign on the door. This was not obvious. There was no hotel information in our room and if it was available on the TV, we didn’t see it. We paid $25 each for continental breakfast at the restaurant. The yoghurt was empty and I asked them to refill it. They said they would but didn’t. So no yoghurt for me! On checkout I was told that they’d email me a copy of the invoice, which they didn’t. I emailed and asked for them to send it, which they haven’t. It’s not that hard to get these things right and make a guest’s stay that much better.

The location was excellent, right next to Te Papa, the waterfront walk, and plenty of restaurants. The room was quiet, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The only downside was that my room didn’t have a study desk, which made it difficult to work. I had to use the bed as my workstation, which wasn’t ideal.

QT Wellington is a fantastic stay. The service is warm and genuinely friendly, especially the team at the restaurant, which makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The location couldn’t be better — just across from Te Papa museum and right in the heart of Wellington’s vibrant waterfront. I also loved the artsy atmosphere throughout the hotel, from the lobby, the bar to the rooms, which gives the place so much character. A great choice if you want both comfort and a creative vibe.

Our stay at the QT was exceptional, yet again! From the moment we arrived, the reception staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their personal touches and top notch hospitality is hard to beat. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality and we look forward to staying again whenever we leave - the QT truly feels like a home away from home, thank you so much Colin and team 🤗

I visited this location for High Tea at the recommendation of a traveler blog. The tea variety was great and the treats were amazing. The chef really packs a punch in all the delights you're offered for your visit. The staff were very friendly, highly recommend you stop on in for an afternoon.

Frustrating, Overrated Stay Not Worth the Price We stayed at QT Wellington and unfortunately, it was a total letdown from start to finish. Check-in was chaotic. Cars were lined up down the road with no one managing the flow it took ages just to get to the front entrance. Not a great first impression. Room disappointment followed. The booking photo showed a balcony, but our room had none. Breakfast was a whole saga. We booked a package with breakfast included, but at check-in we were told it wasn’t. Then they backtracked and confirmed it was included. The next morning, when we tried to get breakfast, a staff member rudely told us we needed to “go sort it out” ourselves. That was awkward and embarrassing especially since this was clearly a communication breakdown on their end, not ours. My partner had to leave me standing there and go all the way down to reception again to sort it. Not the kind of experience you expect at a supposedly “boutique luxury” hotel. Noise levels were awful. We were kept awake by other guests playing music and arguing at ridiculous hours of the morning. Soundproofing? Pretty much non-existent. We also left our service room sign out and were gone from 9:30 AM till after 5 PM. Came back and the room still hadn’t been touched. When we asked, we were told that guests checking in had “first priority.” Really? That’s a bizarre stance to take existing guests should still receive standard service. The only positives: the breakfast menu (once we could actually access it) was good, and the bed was comfortable. And Location was good But all in all, the lack of communication, poor service, and noisy, uncomfortable experience means we definitely won’t be returning. Next time, we’ll go back to the Intercontinental far more professional and worth the price.

Very nice hotel - good location and interesting vibe. Staff were really helpful especially duty manager Danesh who made the stay very enjoyable. |Lovely rooms comfortable beds and very stylish bathroom with robes.|Lots of nice restaurant around - would recommend Instant Malaysia and Great India both within a ten minute walk.

Yelp
Cool place. Neat artwork. Friendly people, but ineffective staff. My heat/air wouldn't cool, so stopped at the desk to ask it be fixed. I was told they'd put a fan in my room until maintenance came in on Monday. Never happened. Drank 2 bottles of water from the refrigerator ($6.00 each) my first night there. They were never replenished. Asked the concierge to order a cab and I'd be right down. He said he would, it didn't until I was standing there in front of him. The room was comfortable and clean, but for the money the service is lacking.

Yelp
Horrible. Waited 3+ hours to get into rooms and Rooms (2) dirty one room smelled and unfortunately windows couldn't be opened. Location sketch. "Harbor view" is a joke - you can't open curtains to see the view without other rooms looking straight into your room. Save yourself money and headache go elsewhere.

Yelp
Great hotel with nice rooms. Excellent location opposite Te Papa and near the harbour. Just a short walk around to Courtney Street for restaurants & bars. But make sure when having a drink at the in-house bar that you actually do get your drink or be left hanging!!!! I should also add that if you want any food from the bar, don't bother. You'll wait forever!!! Lo and behold we actually never got the food. The kitchen was so slack!!!! Look like we will have to go somewhere else for a drink and snack.

Yelp
This place looks really nice and elaborately decorated so the awful service and lack of quality in basic amenities was surprising. We stayed on the apartment side and had a beautiful view of the fitness room's treadmills! Anyone on them could see directly into our room with just a thin veil of an opaque curtain between us. - WiFi is AWFUL!! They even let us use their Event WiFi after I asked why our connection kept dropping. And then the Events WiFi kept dropping constantly with basic surfing and messaging - forget about streaming. After night one, we complained about the following: - Dishes in the storage cabinets weren't clean - TV wasn't working (missing an HDMI cable) We came back at 5pm and the dishes were still dirty and the TV still wasn't working. + breakfast was good and view from their Hippopotamus restaurant is gorgeous.

Yelp
Unlike other reviews, I am giving this hotel a higher rating because of the polite and excellent staff. The room was nice, too. Hotel owners, if you are reading this, know that we will never come back. The decor is just too creepy. Sad looking naked ladies in the paintings. One in the dining area says "bimbo". There is a gun shooting a bullet towards a skull in a block of clear resin. Edgy art that some would appreciate, but not us.
