Heritage style hotel, lovely location, and our room had a great view of the harbour. We had a top floor room, which is very spacious, with antique furnishings and a generous size bathroom - the bed was comfortable enough. Appreciate breakfast included, but the bread supplied wasn't fresh, maybe two days old, given how crumbly it was. I would highly recommend getting a low-level room if you don't want to hike the steep staircase to your room. Parking is available on-site but seems to be first in best dressed, as we were road tripping with a lot of goods in the car we preffered parking inside the hotel grounds rather than street parking. Generous pub food portions that are reasonably priced but the bar could do with a better selection of tap beers. There was an odd carpet smell throughout the hotel carpeted areas and room. I'm not sure if it's from renovations or just needs a really good shampoo/vacuum wash.

Damien went above and beyond to make our stay here special. From carrying our bags to our room and telling us some history about where we were staying. The towels are so soft, the bed is so comfy and the location is perfect. We had dinner there and the portions are ample and food yummy. Great stay at a historic hotel. Would highly recommend

This is not somewhere to stay if you like light or space. Our room was cramped and had an awkward layout. Windows were completely frosted because they looked out onto a tin roof, but this made it feel even more claustrophobic. It's probably nicer if you like the historic/heritage hotel feel, and the bed was fine and the room clean, at least. Note there is no lift so you need to go up at least one flight of stairs to get to your room. Seems like there is plenty of free parking but it might not be enough if the hotel were full. Staff were friendly and helpful though, and three included 'continental' breakfast wasn't too bad.

We stayed at this hotel whilst travelling the Great ocean Road. It is an older hotel but the room we were given was absolutely lovely. The room was large and comfortable as was the bathroom. We also ate in the hotel in the evening. The meals we had were delicious, my steak was tender and succulent. A continental breakfast was included in the price of the room - fruit, cereals, yoghurt, toast and drinks. Plenty to keep us going for the rest of the day. I can't recommend this hotel too highly

Our glorious room was a joy with a magnificent bathroom. Staff all great. Food downstairs was 100% fantastic. Locals call it the MAC as that was the original name. Service at all times was utterly perfect.|Restaurant downstairs is so popular with locals that we came to realize that it was better to book a table in advance

my side of the building was facing the kitchen, all the odour was in the room, plus the noise from the ventilation. bearable for one night.

Can’t fault this gorgeous hotel. It felt like I’ve travelled back in time. The management did well in maintaining the hotel well. Despite being heritage listed building (aka old) didn’t had any yucky moments in the room. Not a single hair in the bathroom and all facilities within the room are perfectly working fine. Bed sheets are in white which I loved the most. Bath had jets working too! Intercom and hair dryer intact. Total blockout when sleeping so you don’t get disturbed but can hear the heavy rev ups outside but not an issue. Love the dinette and large screen tv. Private parking at the back of the hotel for free. Bar and restaurant downstairs. Light continental breakfast included which needs to refill fast. Our room was overlooking the marina and walk to the shops and parks. Could also walk to the jetty for fishing. 12 min drive to Cape Nelson. Reception was very helpful and nice. Left my phone on the dining table at the restaurant and came back to me with no hassle. Booked for 2 rooms and refunded me the excess since the other room was smaller, couldn’t have known about it if the receptionist had not explained. All hotels should be like this and I have no hesitation recommending this place to friends.

Stayed 2 nights when visiting Portland recently and was very impressed with the standard of our room. We had one of the large rooms on the first floor over looking the seafront. Beautiful room, very spacious and had a good range of items in the mini bar plus good choice of complementary hot drinks and biscuits, including a nespresso machine and pods. |They room price includes a nice continental breakfast in the dining room, cereal toast and hot drinks plus juice. The lady serving breakfast was lovely. Hot breakfast can be ordered and paid if you wish. |The hotel is not cheap, but it is very nice and is in a good spot, with parking too. There is a very good restaurant next door called Clock by the Bay, and you can get a decent pub meal at the hotel too. I would stay again for sure. Only warning - no lift so if you can't manage a staircase, this is not the place for you.
