This isn't a review of the hotel per say, but on their lunch service. I was in Luleå for three days for a mandatory course in insurance medicine (yeah, I know, no fun at all), but being served a quality lunch, and enjoying the company of fellow colleagues that I see far to seldom these days is a welcomed change. I guess one out of two isn't that bad when I summarize it all. So yes, the colleagues were all there, but quality of food was nowhere to be found. Had a total of three lunches and not one of them impressed me even the slightest. The salads were quite dull, with some really weird combinations. I'd daresay that green olives with artichokes should never be put in the same salad bowl, those flavors have no chance of going together. Then just the standardized boring lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber etc. One lunch they served cod in egg sauce. I don't mind egg sauce, if done right it can be really tasty, but here the eggs were dry and overcooked along with a complete lack of spices (primarily salt). The cod itself was swimming around in the egg sauce, but surprisingly almost undercooked than over. Also, complete lack of seasoning and salt, resulting in literarily no taste of fish. Another day the lunch was advertised as roasted pork loin with roasted baby potatoes and jus, sounded nice, but for some reason we were served a beef stroganoff that had about the same texture as chewing on a piece of rubber band. And no roasted potatoes either, just dry rice. Sadly, none of the dishes served were even up to an acceptable standard even though the hotel dining room is very modern, contemporary and nice - suggesting an entirely different level of quality than the one presented.
Frankly, if this is what paying hotel customers, or in this case course/congress participants are served on a daily basis - change location, it really is just that bad.
