We booked two of the newer Executive rooms for our trip from Sydney to Adelaide with our adult daughter. The rooms were clean and well appointed and had been put adjacent to each other. Despite being on the corner by f a busy road we were not troubled by traffic noise. ||The only disappointing things related to food. None of the restaurants were open on. Sunday, and those in the neighbourhood were all closing early. As a consequence we had to get food from a service station cafe. The other disappointment was breakfast. We had been told there were gluten free options available but when we asked we were told the only gluten free item was yoghurt and fruit. The staff said not even the eggs and bacon were gluten free and that it was not safe for consumption if you were coeliac. This was incredibly disappointing and meant that the drive out of Mildura was done on an empty stomach for one of us. Luckily we found a place over the border in SA which was open and had gluten free items. With at least 1/10 of the population being coeliac, and many others bizarrely choosing to eat gluten free food, it would have been nice to have some options at breakfast, even if they were pre-packaged and wrapped goods.

Very disappointing. When we phoned to book there was no mention that the room was upstairs so we had to lug suitcases up stairs - not easy when you're in your 70's. Car parking is across the road in a public carpark. When we found we had to lug suitcases up stairs - which would be very slippery in winter - I mentioned this wasn't ideal and the receptionist just shrugged her shoulders. When booking I asked what the difference was between a Queen Bed room and a Suite and was told the Suite had a view of the river. It didn't, it overlooked the train station and yards with only a tiny glimpse of the river if you looked hard enough. No microwave in room, no biscuits. Very basic room for a lot of money. In fact, the only good thing I could say about it is the location. The front entrance area is very grand but our room certainly wasn't. Definitely won't be staying here again.

Good location but that's it. Rooms are tired and need refurbishing. Very soft bed. Car park is across the road. Attached restaurant is good however expensive. I got scotch fillet + bowl of potatoes and glass of wine for $82. Free coffee coupon for breakfast was nice.

Absolutely the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The room was freezing cold because the heater didn’t work, and I was left trying to warm the space with the hairdryer — completely unacceptable. The shower was dangerous — it was impossible to regulate the water temperature and I kept getting burned. The whole place is old, musty, and in serious need of renovation. On top of that, there was no customer service to speak of — no one available to help or even apologise for the issues. I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel

Basic room appliances, utensils, plates and bowls are only in some rooms. Quite old rooms, paper thin walls. Shower plumbing is horrible, deviates from scolding and freezing when untouched. Wifi drops in and out. The bed and pillows are comfortable. Good for a quick stop and plenty of options for food walking distance.

From the bizarre instructions at check in - we're on the ground floor, and I was told to go downstairs to my room which would have been to the cellar to the garden view that was promised but not delivered, this is a bit of a let down. Rooms were noisy: thumps and bumps from the rooms above, the corridor outside, the fridge and the air conditioner.

The Grand Hotel Mildura has 3 quality levels of accommodation, Standard, Quality & Superior. I booked the Quality (mid range) twin room (room 14) which has more space & consisted of a queen & single bed.||The room is an all one colour grey tone being the walls & cupboards which appeared to be painted over. The carpet was charcoal. The room lacked contrast and it appeared to be missing nice touches.||To my disappointment & surprise there was no armchairs considering the available space. If you wanted to sit & watch tv or relax & chat with drinks, it's either you sit on the dated scratched 2 dining chairs with the table or you sit on the bed.||The other thing I wish to point out is the bathroom which has a dated laminex vanity from the 80s, like seriously it's 2025 that vanity needs a major update, you'll notice in the pic the side has a laminex chipped off.||When you're paying $570 for 3 nights in Mildura, you expect the room to be of better standard. I spoke with reception about a lack of armchairs and they did bring up 1 old pleather armchair, and I confirmed whether my room is the Quality room as the dining chairs & table were scratched & dated, & bathroom vanity is 80s and they said I was in the correct room.||Furthermore, the bed was not comfortable and not a pillow-top mattress, it seemed either it was a cheap quality mattress or it was an old mattress that it's springs have deteriorated, as their was a lack of support. The mattress needs to be replaced.||Most of the hotel was nice, with a manicured garden with an original heritage fountain. |I heard the better rooms are the ones facing the garden which are the superior rooms.

Recently spent 5 nights here and couldn’t fault it at all. Great location, super clean rooms, comfy bed, good shower. Would absolutely stay here again.

Yelp
I wanted something nice to take my wife for her birthday for a break from our caravanning. I called the Grand and was prepared to book their best room at $365 a night. It came with a bar which we didn't want so I took the next best at $265. I would have preferred our caravan. The room was dull dowdy and most depressing in appearance. The building was old but that is no excuse for the room to look unwelcoming. On top of that, there was no way to lock off the access from the balcony which was open to other rooms. We spent the night with a wedge under the bedroom door hoping it would be a deterrant. Most unsettling. We mentioned this at the desk when departing. There was no offer of compensation. We are glad that night is over.

Yelp
A very quaint hotel in the middle of Mildura! The hotel is located within a historic building which has been very well maintained. We arrived late in the evening but that wasn't an issue as the hotel offered 24 hour maned access. There was plenty of parking, however it is important to note that it is only 15 min parking right out the front of the hotel - but just drive around the corner for all night parking. The receptionist was very friendly and efficient. She provided us with great ideas for breakfast places and gave us a carton of milk for coffee / tea. I would suggest taking the stairs as the lift is as old as the building - it can only (just) for 2 people and takes a long time to get to each floor! There is only 2 levels so walking up the stairs is manageable! We received a free room upgrade and also free complimentary drinks! The room is very much a home away from home, offering apartment style comfort and facilities! This has been a great start to our weekend away!

Yelp
Lovely rooms, good beds, brilliant pool, stunning breakfast. This is the perfect place for a family or romantic get away.
