"In mid-July, the streets around Palermo's Quattro Canti (Four Corners) fill with vendors preparing babbaluci for the feast of Saint Rosalia, the city's patron saint. Truckloads of these tiny snails are sautéed in massive pans with oil, parsley and garlic, and served in handheld cones with toothpicks for extracting the delicate morsels."

The baroque architecture at this crossroads is stunning, and it truly feels like the heart of the city. During the day, it’s beautiful to admire and take photos, but at night the atmosphere becomes even more special. People often gather here, and sometimes you can even see dancing and music in the square. A lively and cultural place that shows the real spirit of Palermo!

This elegant Baroque style square is definitely a must not be missed on your trip to Palermo. Four Corners built as part of urban planning, which took place during the first decades of Spanish domination. At street level each corner has a fountain with a statue of one of the four seasons by Gregorio Tedeschi and Nunzio La Mattina. Above the central sections have a niche containing a statue of a sovereign - Philip II, Philip III, Philip IV of Spain and the emperor Charles V- all sculptured by Giovanni Battista D'Aprile. In the upper part are marble figures of four guardian saints of the city -Agatha, Christina, Nymph and Olivia. Magnificent view! Piazza is constantly talking about the History of Sicily and is the heart of Palermo's civil and social life. Beautiful in every season, indeed!

One of the most historical places of Palermo. Passed through there as part of one of the free walking tours and heard all about the kings and different characters, that are being present there. Usually there is also some live music from street performers and the place is always packed with tourists. Fortunately there was no queue and no need for any waiting time.

Very touristic, but thanks to the police, it was safe. Local artists are also enriching this place. We went there during the Santa Rosalia festival, but I bet it is magical in the early morning.

A corner unlike 1 I’ve ever seen. The history behind the statutes is fascination. Nice place to take pictures. Also a great meeting place when traveling with others not staying in your hotel. Close to many other sites, restaurants and stores.

Stunning and beautiful architecture in this amazing intersection. We were walking from the train station to our first destination of the day when we got here, and it’s basically indescribable. Excellent planning many years ago had left off with this incredible location. It doesn’t take long time to visit but it’s a must see if you’re visiting Palermo. I was so happy we visited early in the morning because it was so packed with people as we left later in the day. Bucket list item checked off.

Loved the outdoor musicians performing! Very impressed with the areas I explored of Palermo. 😊 Nice buildings with intricate architectural designs all throughout. Buildings well preserved (at least on the outside). In the areas we visited, I can at least tell the city was much, much cleaner compared to other ones we visited in which you could see trash piled literally on every corner. Not sure if locals would agree or not, but whatever work is being done at the government level, is going on good track…. I’m sure there is room for improvement too😉

It was fun coming across Quattro Canti on our day trip to Palermo and then being able to witness a cute car show with some EDM in the background 🙌 Quattro Canti, officially known as Piazza Vigliena, is a prominent Baroque square located in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. Location: It is situated at the intersection of two major streets in Palermo: Via Maqueda and Corso Vittorio Emanuele (also known as the Cassaro). Symbolic Center: Quattro Canti is considered the center of Palermo's historic quarters and the symbolic heart of the city.

Yelp
Did a walking tour of Palermo and like most tourists had to stop in the Quattro Canti... the four corners. Such a cool place to see up close. Located in the heart of the city, historic distract. Each corner represents one of the four seasons. The two streets that Voss over are Via Maqueda and Via Vittorio Emanuele... Always illuminated by the sun, this spot is also called the theater of the sun. Major detail and time went into the design and construction here. A must see when in town.

Yelp
There are a few "must sees" in Palermo and the Quattro Canti (four corners) is one of them. It's hard to miss as this is the very heart and center of the historic district of the city. It is the spot where the two main streets of Palermo cross - the Via Maqueda and the Cassaro Vittorio Emanuele https://www.yelp.com/biz/cassaro-vittorio-emanuele-palermo?hrid=i-CeolRoAs0peYEwN9cCnQ. The four corners represent the four seasons of the year and each representing a separate Spanish king of Italy and a separate patron of Palermo. Beautiful day or night and I'm sad that I didn't take four perfect pictures of each corner to merge into a single image. But it's lovely and worth a visit. As usual, this is the touristy part of town. Any time there are tourists, there are going to be pickpockets. There's very little violent crime in Palermo but there are pickpockets so make sure your stuff is secure. [Round number review 12800 overall, 114 of 2020.]

Yelp
This was on our must see list when we visited Palermo. Quattro Canti is also known as Piazza Vigliena. It is a Baroque style square right in the main part of the city and was built in 1608. Located at the crossing of the two principal streets in Palermo, the Via Maqueda and the Via Vittorio Emanuele. The unique piazza is octagonal shaped with 4 sides being the streets; the remaining four sides are Baroque buildings, the near identical facades each with fountains and statues of the four seasons, the four Spanish kings of Sicily and of the patronesses of Palermo: Christina, Ninfa, Olivia and Agata. This is a definite must see in Palermo.
