Quayside

Whilst visit the area we chose to eat at Quayside after looking at previous reviews. We was looking forwards to eating upstairs as previous reviews recommended this. Sadly upstairs was closed! However this didn’t ruin the meal. We ordered fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce and adding an extra side of scampi. Very welcoming by all staff food was cooked to order nice and fresh/hot portion size is fair. Chips are tasty good old taste. And the SCAMPI was totally amazing full of taste. The batter is just how batter should be. Pricey but it’s worth it.

It was lovely and quiet when we went today! The service was absolutely amazing and the portions were more than enough. Nowhere else in Whitby compares to here for us, would recommend. :)

Took my boys for treat during half term. As per usual the food was very nice. My 5 year old had childrens sausage, chips and peas overpriced at £8.70. I ordered the Yorkshire special regular cod, chips, peas, 1 small slice of bread and a drink overpriced at £24.40. My 11 year old ordered Jumbo sausage, chips and curry sauce amazingly priced at £15! £15 for a sausage, a few chips and an average pot of curry! Throw in the boys drinks and it came to nearly £52. After going there for at least 10 years i doubt i shall return simply because i think its become far too expensive. Sorry if i sound like im whinging but £15 for a sausage and chips, wow.

Amazing friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are lovely and always happy to help. The inside is set out perfectly so you dont feel your sat on the next person's knee lol. Very clean and the takeaway side is just as good. Food is absolutely beautiful with great portion size for the price n as always with the perfect whitby touch.

The place is nice and the staff are friendly but it is extremely overpriced. About a quarter of the amount of chips and a little under cooked for the same price and quality as other ,We had been here a few years ago and it was very good so thought we would return ,we wont be rushing back over 100 pounds 4 fish and chips and 4 drinks

Amazing fish n chips! Batter was crispy, fish tasty, chips too! The girls who served us were lovely! The decor was beautiful, the restaurant and toilets very clean!!

The place is nice and the staff are friendly but it is extremely overpriced. About a quarter of the amount of chips for the same price and quality as other places. Next time I'll be going to a cheap chip shop and sitting on the beach with the seagulls. I only went to an indoor place this time because one of the people in my group was scared of the seagulls.

As a 30 something year old from Kent I can honestly say these were the best fish and chips I've ever had. Not greasy, perfectly cooked and so much flavour 👌🏻

Stopped in Whitby last week and had a very tight schedule. They got us a table right away and sent a waitress over to take our order, giving us priority for food. The fish and chips were excellent! probably the best we have had. The cod was fresh, a generously sized portion, and the batter was crispy and tasty. the chips were also very good. This was a really fabulous experience - not one single thing could have been done bette - and I highly recommend them.

Pros + It's a must-try thing to get fish n chips in Whitby, and you can take it down to the pier for the full experience + The fish is VERY fresh from Iceland Cons - It's WAY too greasy. It's nearly dripping oil and you feel dirty afterwards - Tarter sauce is an extra 25p per packet - Cash only (for takeaway) I'm glad I went and tried it, but I certainly wouldn't say this was the best Fish N Chips I've had. It was a cool 'local' experience however to take out and eat on the pier and the water.

Award winning fish and chips? We ordered from the take away counter as the line to sit down was quite long. Walked outside and began to eat (less than 2 minutes after receiving the food) and the food wasn't even hot. The fish wasn't bad but the chips are more like greasy sponges. Not a crisp one in the batch. The fish is fresh...from Iceland; I guess that may explain the price. Unfortunately there's nothing special about this place. I imagine every fish shop in town is just good. How they have won any awards is a wonder to me. I've had better fish and chips from a Chinese take away. Obviously the quality has taken a plunge since winning the award or the award giving committee got lucky. It's sad when a place works so hard to have a good product only to allow the product quality to slip after becoming famous. If you're gonna que up; try magpie a few doors down, it's probably better.

How fish and chips should be! Gorgeous with a simple but perfectly executed service. If I was back in Whitby looking for 'once' and a cup of chah again, I'd drop in here.

An award winning fish fryery,this premises is split into two.One side is a take-away and the other a spacious restaurant.The menu is quite comprehensive but typical of this type of establishment.Food is fresh cooked to order and arrives at the table piping hot.Portions are large and represent good value for money.The staff are both friendly and efficient and very helpful and accomodating if there are children in your party.An added bonus is that the restaurant is licenced so you can enjoy a beer(or two)with your meal.Even more enjoyable was the fact you could get a decent beer(Black Sheep) and not just lager.All in all a very pleasant experience and one I shall certainly repeat when next in Whitby.

Decent fish and chips, cute staff, lovely bread. The line for the takeaway was huge so we went inside. Fast service. Tables a bit small. Great cup of tea.

Got take-away fish and chips last time we were in Whitby. They only had one full-size fish ready, but asked if we were happy to have two small pieces on one of them. Very large portions - me and my husband could have easily shared the chips. Very nice - will definitely be going again!
