A Food Expert's Guide to Eating in Athens, Greece - AFAR

"We meet up in the leafy genteel Kolonaki district at a posh bakehouse, Queen Bee. The astonishing, green-striped croissants here explode with a nutty lava of pistachio praline." - Anya von Bremzen

Coffee is good, food is delicious, and people are friendly & helpful. What else could I want? Stopped for a coffee and I even had my lunch there. Definitely a must.

This bakery is a little gem – not only are the pastries fresh and delicious, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting with lovely seating areas that make you want to linger. Their breakfast options are just as impressive, perfect for a relaxed start to the day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet and cozy spot

My partner Liz and I visited Queen Bee this morning, and it was a delightful experience! We enjoyed the "Greek Kagianas" and the Spanakopita, paired with two Americano coffees. The Spanakopita was hands down the best we've ever had—its flaky layers and subtle hint of anise made it absolutely incredible. The Greek Kagianas was also a tasty treat, bursting with flavor. The cozy ambiance and friendly vibe added to the enjoyment, and the coffee was a perfect complement to our meal. We can’t wait to return and try more from their menu! Highly recommend this spot to anyone in Athens!

Sadly I have to agree with the rest of the reviews. 6.50€ in Athens is a insane price for a croissant.. we didn’t know before we ordered and ended up paying 17€ for 2 croissants and one chocolate.. They were okay, but it’s Athens not dubai or new york.. with that money you eat 3 croissants somewhere else.

Visited for brunch on a Friday afternoon, but it was still fully booked with people waiting. We were seated after waiting for only 15’ (thanks to good handling by the waiting staff). Despite the lack of surprises (especially presentation wise), all items were very tasty and beautifully made. No flavors were overwhelming and everything was very balanced. Definitely worth a visit, but more is to be expected considering the price range.

We had an amazing experience at Queen Bee today! The place is beautifully designed, the atmosphere is great, and the food was absolutely perfect. I had the muesli and the avocado toast with poached eggs — everything was fresh, flavorful, and just spot on. My husband, who’s not really into breakfast food and prefers more of a lunch vibe, went for the burger and fries, and he loved it! It was seriously delicious. The coffee was so good I ended up ordering two lattes — couldn’t resist. What’s better than starting your day with excellent food, great coffee, and beautiful people all around? Highly recommend!

This is my favorite spot in kolonaki, it has the greatest breakfast brunch choice in the neighborhood, excellent service and the staff is super friendly, also just for a coffee is great! Highly recommended it👌

Very good coffee and sweets! But frankly for a place that sells croissants at 5 euros, you could expect a separate entry for all the deliveries and staff that don’t behave like this is their home and laugh hysterically. Also frequented by people who speak very loudly and/or eat in an ungracious manner. Finally, visited in winter and very drafty. Again, for Kolonaki, for 5 euros/croissant, you could expect more…
