A Food Expert's Guide to Eating in Athens, Greece - AFAR

"We meet up in the leafy genteel Kolonaki district at a posh bakehouse, Queen Bee. The astonishing, green-striped croissants here explode with a nutty lava of pistachio praline." - Anya von Bremzen

This bakery is a little gem – not only are the pastries fresh and delicious, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting with lovely seating areas that make you want to linger. Their breakfast options are just as impressive, perfect for a relaxed start to the day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet and cozy spot

Visited for brunch on a Friday afternoon, but it was still fully booked with people waiting. We were seated after waiting for only 15’ (thanks to good handling by the waiting staff). Despite the lack of surprises (especially presentation wise), all items were very tasty and beautifully made. No flavors were overwhelming and everything was very balanced. Definitely worth a visit, but more is to be expected considering the price range.

We had an amazing experience at Queen Bee today! The place is beautifully designed, the atmosphere is great, and the food was absolutely perfect. I had the muesli and the avocado toast with poached eggs — everything was fresh, flavorful, and just spot on. My husband, who’s not really into breakfast food and prefers more of a lunch vibe, went for the burger and fries, and he loved it! It was seriously delicious. The coffee was so good I ended up ordering two lattes — couldn’t resist. What’s better than starting your day with excellent food, great coffee, and beautiful people all around? Highly recommend!

Had a super Sunday brunch at this place just round the corner from our (Booking dot com) apartment. French toast for my wife, Avocado toast for me, fresh orange juice and coffees. Lovely relaxed place to sit and watch the world go by on a Sunday morning.

This morning I had some time between meetings so I decided to spend it over a nice coffee. I am afraid that for €6.80 for a double cappuccino, the quality should have been better. The “cream” was all bubbly and when I kindly told them “it doesn’t matter, I would just like to give you some feedback for next time” they really didn’t seem to care. I don’t mind about the high cost or whatever as long as the standards meet what you are paying for. And if something goes wrong, which is absolutely ok, just admit it as a professional would do and respect the money you are getting paid.

Came twice for breakfast. Great range of food and drink options, it is very busy and you can see why. Fast and efficient service and the coffee is lovely.

If tourist trap and rip off had a baby. Overpriced average food, regret visiting. Yogurt bowl had exactly 3 blue berries, 1 black berry, half a strawberry and was mostly chia. Locals go just for coffee, it was only foreigners eating. We didnt try the baked goods so cant comment on them.

Must visit brunch in Kolonaki, spotted randomly but we were super content with everything! Totally recommend!
