We stayed at Queen Boutique Hotel in Krakow as a gay married couple mid January. The hotel is warm, clean, and decorated very festively, giving a cozy, welcoming feel.||Check-in: The process was a bit awkward. The receptionist kept checking if we were sharing the bed and if we were aware it was only one bed. They also asked if both of us were sharing the room, since it was a king bed and not a twin. This felt uncomfortable and unnecessary.||Room: The room itself was spotless, but it was quite cold. We were told to adjust the radiator, which wasn’t sufficient for the size of the room. An electric heater was provided, but it only had one setting and tripped when fully turned on. Cleaning was not provided during our stay unless requested, towels weren’t replenished automatically, and only two small milks were supplied despite multiple coffee/tea cups.||Breakfast: Continental breakfast was basic but generally fine. Most dietary needs are covered, but the coffee was extremely bitter and could be improved.||Check-out: We were initially told we could have a late check-out until 1 pm. On the morning of departure, the trainee receptionist was helping at checkout, but the receptionist who checked us in took over and informed us we couldn’t have the late check-out because the hotel was “fully booked.” This contradicted the hotel’s website, which still showed multiple rooms of the same type available for the same day and continued to do so several hours later when checking. The receptionist came across as rude and dismissive and didn’t appear to check bookings and just decided himself that we couldn’t have the late checkout. However, our female friend who travelled at the same time and who was staying at the hotel also, requested a late checkout after us and instantly was offered a free checkout until 1pm or a small fee for a checkout until 6pm. Additionally, she was offered access to extra facilities for showering and changing before heading to the airport. This treatment seemed inconsistent as different guests were not being treated the same way. Combined with the repeated questioning at check-in, this inconsistency left us feeling that the treatment was not welcoming to LGBT guests, wether this is the specific staff members opinions and homophobic feelings towards LGBT guests or the hotels in general, who knows, but this is the first time I have experienced this travelling in recent years.||Overall, the hotel had a lovely festive atmosphere, clean rooms, and some friendly staff at times, but some interactions and inconsistencies left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. It may suit a short stay, but we would caution LGBT guests to be aware of these experiences
