Place is great to watch. We enjoyed seeing the bridge operate multiple times daily. It has two different modes of operation, fully open and partially open, signified by blue and orange flags respectively.

Beautiful pontoon bridge made of wooden planks for pedestrians in the heart of downtown Willemstad. The bridge makes way for ships and boats when they're crossing the bay. The best time to visit the beach is during the sunset as the bridge is lit up in colourful lights. You also get a great view of the colourful Victorian style buildings of Willemstad.

Visited the Queen Emma Bridge (Koningin Emmabrug) during the day and it was definitely unique experience. I happened to be on the floating bridge right as it opened to let a ship pass through, which was really cool to see up close. The views from the bridge are incredible - you get to take amazing pictures from all angles, whether you're looking out at the water or back at the colorful buildings of Willemstad. It’s an easy and scenic way to cross to the other side of Curaçao, and definitely something to check out while you're there.

Beautiful bridge! Magical Queen Emma Bridge Willemstad Curacao. When a boat needs to enter or leave the harbor bay, the bridge swings open to allow ships to pass.

Beautiful landscape and history! This is the oldest and longest floating bridge in the world! Pleasant to walk during the day or night!

During a day trip to the island, we crossed over this bridge to & fro a local beach. On both occasions we were lucky enough to be on the bridge when it opened and moved/opened a suitable distance to allow other ships to pass by. They do sound an alarm and usually close a gate to stop pedestrians walking onto or off it while moving, however there were a few people who rushed to get on or off so the gate keepers had their hands full. This is a great pontoon bridge with simple motor house but does a great job. We didn't see it at night but the lights on all the archways are lit up so assume it would be a beautiful sight. The colourful houses on each side of the river also look great from this vantage point.

This bridge is definitely worth a walk to see the colorful buildings on each side and is about a 15 minute walk from the cruise terminal. Queen Emma bridge which is pontoon drawbridge which swings open and allows boats to pass through. It can take 15 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the boat(s) passing through so you have to factor that in to your time to walk back to the ship. People miss the ship because of the bridge. Coming back, the bridge did open with sections moving and swaying back and forth then the gates at the end locked even with people on the bridge. An announcement is made in Dutch and the bridge starts moving even when people are on it. The end of the bridge pulls away from land at an angle, so it can be a bit scary as you are on moving/swaying bridge not sure if you are able to get to land in time. My husband wanted to stay on the bridge and do it again. It was quite the experience having sections of the bridge swaying back and forth as you walk on it. I was not sure if the sections would split open or move upwards like a normal drawbridge. Seeing the end of the drawbridge pull away from land at an angle and the gate sliding shut did motivate me to make the last distance at a sprint. If you hear an announcement when you are crossing the bridge, even if you can't understand it, start walking a lot faster. When the alarms sound, it means the gates will be closing and things are really going to be swaying.
