We cannot begin how lucky we felt that we were able to join this tour at the last minute. I highly recommend you buy your tickets in advance. It was worth it and then some. I love gemstones, crystals, and rocks so this was heaven for me. They had great sales and I was able to get stones I have been trying to find for months. Our tour guide was amazing and shared so many details of the mine. He answered everyone's questions with patience and respect. I highly recommend doing this tour. It is a train ride and you will climb stairs to see the stoke. This is where you will see the magic and learn about the history of the miners. Parking is limited so plan ahead. They had free parking down below but it is also limited parking, there is paid parking that has more space too across from the free parking. Be prepared to walk up the stairs to the mine tour and or the visitor's center that is located inside the Queen Mine store. Be open minded and you will have so much fun.

Google
Our tour guide was the mine supervisor and his tour was the best tour I have ever been on in all my 30 years of traveling! He gave the tour and spoke to us as if we were one of his miners (his decades of experience and passion for mining showed!) explaining all the things he needed us to do. This approach motivated me to join in (theoretically) and engaged me in learning much more than I would have just passively listening to someone list off facts! I highly recommend the tour even if you aren’t lucky enough to get him for a guide!

Google
This was a great experience to see how copper was and is mined. This was a tour you had to reserve. You get to ride on a mining train to go inside the mine that started in 1902. The tour guides explained the process of extracting the copper ore in great detail. The tour was about an hour long.

Google
This mine tour was so much fun! They give you a hard hat, vest, and a light. The train ride is really cool too! Our guide definitely knew what he was talking about and answered our groups questions. The cave we toured through is wide open. As someone with claustrophobia, I felt safe and comfortable. I would definitely recommend!

Google
Very historical and educational mine history tour. You ride an over 100 yard old train 1,500 feet into the mine. Several stops in the mine on the tour to discuss ore, mine history and techniques. It is necessary to wear a vest, hard hat and light. Nice, straight forward presentation. Gift shop has a great selection, with a lot of different rocks and other collectibles.

Google
The queen Mine Tour was really enjoyable! It was pretty accessible to most parties, and the employees were very accommodating if anyone had any difficulties with the space of the mines. The tour itself was very informative if you're interested in the mining process and the history of the town. The visitor center has lots of gift/ souvenir options. It is within walking distance of the town. I drove an electric vehicle and was able to charge it at one of the Chargepoints in town while I enjoyed sightseeing and this tour.

Google
We had an amazing time on the mine tour. Our tour guide was excellent—funny, friendly, and very knowledgeable. It’s an experience where you not only learn about the history of the mines but also feel truly connected to the past. We enjoyed every moment and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes so you can enjoy the tour even more. A wonderful experience!

Niranda W.

Google
What a unique experience! The Queen Mine Tour was the highlight of our trip to Bisbee. Our guide, Neil shared real-life stories from his time working in the mine, and you could feel his passion for the history and the company (Phelps Dodge Corporation). The tour was well organized, informative, and fun. A must-do if you’re visiting Bisbee!
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
What a great adventure to learn about the mines. It was easy to find. Our tour guide Steve had amazing information to pass on. I'd recommend anyone in Bisbee to go see it.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Did this tour when I went to visit Bisbee. I knew it would be fun, but I had a great time. David, our tour guide was simply an Encyclopedia Brittanica on everything about the mine. It was so interesting & he seemed to literally know everything about it. The little train ride was fun & the stops with Davids narration, coupled with the 9000 questions we all asked him made for such a great experience. If yiu are thinking abiut going, dont hesitate. You'll love the tour
google avatar

Benjamin W.

Yelp
How often can ride the same machines that miners used back in the day to go to work? Then explore the different areas, tools, and jobs they had. It really makes me appreciate the air conditioner comforts of work life today. Our tour guide Frank really knew how to give a good show and his assistant Shawn was allay really helpful. This is a must do if you're in the area.
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
A must when in Bisbee. Buy your tickets and book your time in advanced. Well worth it for the price. You get to tour some of the mine on a train, and you get to walk some of it too. Your tour guide will cover the history as well as the parts of the mine and its purpose. Very educational and interesting. We enjoyed this. They mined copper, silver, and gold here.

Laurie R.

Yelp
We had the best time doing this mine tour- the guide was so friendly and answered all questions asked. I loved it!
google avatar

Jon T.

Yelp
This old mine was operational from the 1880's until the 1970's and was responsible for the development of Bisbee. Today, you can tour it via a small train that takes you through the mine and makes several stops. You'll see a "stope," which is a hollowed out area of the mine, an explanation of how blasting worked, the old elevator system, mule carts, mine shafts and more. The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. They also made safety a priority and if anyone lost a personal item they would retrieve it for you. It ran for about an hour and a half. This is an essential stop in Bisbee if you like history or sightseeing that's off the beaten path.
google avatar

Taylor W.

Yelp
Had the best time touring the Queen Mine while visiting Bisbee! The booking/check in process was easy and efficient, and the staff were all very professional and kind. Have to give a special shout out to our guide, Neil! Having worked in the mine, he was able to share so much insight and history about the mines. It was so interesting to learn about the history and hear some of his stories from back in the day. I felt very safe the entire duration of the tour, and would recommend this as a fairly inexpensive attraction to do while in Bisbee!
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
This is a must tour if you're visiting Bisbee. The hour tour - traveling into the mine with multiple stops - and learning about the history of copper mining in Bisbee is well worth it, particularly considering the reasonable prices, $16 for adults and $8 for children.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
Professional and fun from start to finish. Kid friendly. Train ride into and through, some walking and stairs, and our docent was really interesting and helpful.
google avatar

Naomi C.

Yelp
Didn't think it was going to be my type of thing but our guide, Neal, made it so interesting and fun. He was truly a well of knowledge.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
We used our Arizona Adventure Bucket List card for Bisbee and it directed us to do the Underground Mine tour. So glad we did- our guide was a former mine worker so he had great insight. So much history and a really great time. We'd do it again for sure.
google avatar

Bill S.

Yelp
Drove over from Tombstone. Got to the Copper Queen Mine before 3:30 pm. The last tour leaves at 3:30. We had plenty of time but when I walked up to the Ticket Counter. The young man said well, the last tour of the day is at 3:30. Again we were there before 3:30. He said the last tour has already gone into the Mine. I'm pissed.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the most popular attractions in Bisbee, and I can see why! Open seven days a week, The Queen Mine Tours allows you to ride a train inside the mountains of Bisbee and learn about how the miners conducted their work. The minimum age requirement to go on the tour is 6-years old, anybody younger than that will not be permitted. This attraction can be dangerous for young kids to explore with the dark atmosphere, tight spaces, & literal rock hard walls. Even some adults would feel claustrophobic & unsafe. Fortunately, the staff are aware of this and make it known that if anyone needs to leave the tour, they are welcomed to do so. My ticket was ordered online, and then when I approached the ticket booth to confirm my spot, I was given a consent form to sign and a blue metal tag to signify that I was in the blue group for that day. Someone will announce when your group is ready to board, and from there, they will hand you a vest, helmet and flashlight. What I didn't expect when entering the mines was that I would have to GET OFF of the train and walk around. I was under the impression that we'd be riding the whole tour, but I guess in hindsight, that doesn't make much sense (Imagine the aching in your legs from sitting so long!) The train ride goes on in the beginning of the tour, but then you'll be instructed to step off and roam with your tour guide to specific areas that they will teach you about. You're encouraged to ask many questions by your guide too. I'm all for learning new things, so this tour is fun for people who want to gain a better understanding of the town they're visiting (or you're just really into rocks). I also give bonus points for the tour guide getting the rest of the group to sing "Happy Birthday" to me when he found out it was my birthday. Being sung to by a group of strangers underground is more exciting than it sounds. I also got myself a sweater at their gift shop as a birthday gift. If you're interested in visiting Bisbee, then this MUST be on your to-do list. How can it not be? The mountains are right there, in your line of sight all day. Why not hitch a ride on The Queen Mine Tour and have a closer look? Just make sure not to wear open toe shoes or heels!

Brian W.

Yelp
The Queen Mine Tour in Bisbee was a really fun and informative experience. Riding the original mine carts into the tunnels gives the tour a rustic, adventurous vibe right from the start. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the history of the mine both engaging and entertaining. If anything, I only wish the tour was longer and explored more of the mine. It's a short out-and-back ride, and we had hoped for a longer train ride with more areas to see. That said, it's still a unique and memorable experience that's well worth doing if you're in Bisbee.

Yelp
My friends and I made reservations for the tour on-line which I highly recommend for Saturday October 4, 2025. You need to be there 30 minutes before your tour time, as you need to get a few safety gear items. Check in was fast and easy. This was our second visit for the tour and thankfully we had Neal both times. He was much more than just a guide as he actually worked in the Mine and had firsthand experience of the operation of the Mine. Highly recommend Neal for your Mine Tour.
google avatar

Issa G.

Yelp
So much fun! Our tour guide Joey was very knowledgeable and funny! Make sure you arrive at least 20min early to have time to check in and get your safety gear on! There's a gift shop with lots of pretty rocks and souvenirs right outside
google avatar

Jeremy W.

Yelp
This was such a cool tour! It went a lot deeper into the mine than other mine tours I've been on. The fact that the one giving the tour, Neal, also worked there made it even better. He has a great personality and was super open to questions about the mine. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Tina H.

Yelp
Our guide was so fun and knowledgeable! We had so much fun and learned a lot! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
The Queen Mine Tour was the best mine tour we've ever been on! Our tour guide, Neil, worked in the mine up until it closed in 1975. He was able to give first hand experience, stories and knowledge of how the mine operated, what it felt like to work there and how the minerals were actually mined. He was funny, lighthearted and a true joy to share the cave with! Traveling by 100 year old rail cars deep into the mine was an experience all in itself! The screeching, clanging and jerking made the experience so much more real! After the first check-in stop, you keep going until your deep in the working part of the mine. It's an entire underworld most of us never knew existed! Seeing the minerals in the cave walls was a rock hounds dream!
google avatar

Lexy N.

Yelp
This was such a fun and informative tour. Having a guide who worked in the mines when still in operation made it an incredibly special experience! Getting to hear about all of the different levels and equipment and what it was like when in operation, our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. This had been very high up on my list of places to visit, and I certainly wasnt disappointed. Working at a Rock and Mineral shop in California for so many years I am very familiar with the material that comes from Bisbee so it was amazing to see one of the areas producing it and to hear about the tons and tons of material they brought out of the mountain and all of the evolutions of technology that made their mining practices more productive, and the different ways they kept themselves as safe as possible in such an incredibly dangerous field. Id absolutely recommend the tour.
google avatar

Mia N.

Yelp
A really fun tour that lasted approximately an hour. You get to ride on the "train" that goes along the tracks the miners used back in the 1880s. There are parts where you climb up and down stairs but if you're not able to do the stairs you can still do the tour and just sit out for that part. We learned a lot and felt the tour was well worth the ticket price. Inside the building where you start the tour is a nice gift shop where you can purchase rocks, minerals and the prices seemed very fair. I recommend the tour for teens and adults, I'm not sure if younger kids would enjoy it that much.
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
It was fun got on the trolley into the mine that alone was a treat then got a great tour and explanation of all the history and the how they did things our guide was so knowledgeable and fun . It was a winner. Just go
google avatar

Shonci H.

Yelp
We took the kids to the Queen Mine Tour and we had a wonderful time! The kids absolutely loved it! We all got set up with a safety vest and a light. We rode a little trolley into the mine and stopped a couple of times to learn about the history of the mine. The tour guide was very entertaining and kept everyone's attention throughout the entire tour.
google avatar

Marshall G.

Yelp
Update: These are the four new additions from the Mine fossil and mineral shop. The one in front of the paper plate is from the 100 foot level in this Mine. We went to 250 feet level on the miners straddle train on the paid tour. If you check in on YELP and save the screenshot or post on social media and show proof, you get an extra 10 pct off in the mineral store. No problem, just ask. Not posted.

Yelp
Very cool adventure!! Loved every minute of it. If you visit Bisbee you have to take an hour for this activity. Very friendly and organized crew. Very affordable. Two thumbs up!!
google avatar

Mo O.

Yelp
Great tour, great experience. If you find yourself in Bisbee, this tour is well worth the time and money. Located just off the main drag, you can either park in the mine tour parking lot, or you can easily walk from the center of Bisbee. This mine was active until 1970, so you will see the evolution of mining from 1870's to 1970's on this tour. The guides are all ex-mining workers, so they have the bonafides and knowledge to share a lot of information. There is a very good focus on safety throughout the tour, as they outfit you with hardhat, safety vest, and light. They even stop near the beginning to give anyone who's uncomfortable (i.e. claustrophobia) an opportunity to go back. But honestly it's not bad; a few dark areas, but everyone has their lights so it's never completely black. You will have to ride a narrow train to get in to the mine, which you must straddle like a bicycle. And while the majority of the tour is flat, there is one optional part that requires going up about 60 stairs. (If you opt not to go, you just hang at the tram.) A really good look in to the history of mining in Arizona.
google avatar

Brooke P.

Yelp
Loved this tour so much!! Highly recommend. Very cool experience and learned so much about mining history. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave clear instructions. I was a bit nervous at first about feeling too claustrophobic but once I was in there I felt totally fine and if you aren't they give you a chance to back out with a refund which is amazing customer service. Glad I booked this.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
The Queen Mine Tour is definitely a diamond in the rock of beloved Bisbee. Nothing much more can be said by myself than what has been reiterated repeatedly across reviews. Its an affordable (cha-ching!!) and educational tour for any age. What's most appreciated is that the tour guides (or maybe just ours?) are former miners who have direct former experience in the mines themselves. You need to book a reservation ahead of time and show up at least 30min in advance with closed-toe shoes. The staff provide you the latest in Mining Fashion -- a hard hat, a lamp and a safety vest #houtecouture, then go over the house rules before taking you via mini train deep inside the mine for a look at how it used to be. It's definitely an engaging tour. The office/gift shop also serves as the Bisbee Welcome Center, so if you're looking for something specific to do or eat/drink, best bet is to ask the attendant there for guidance.

Sue H.

Yelp
The crown jewel of Bisbee, AZ! The guide was friendly and over the top knowledgeable. He took the time to answer everyone's questions. We felt welcome, not rushed. The whole tour was organized. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Travis T.

Yelp
The Queen Mine Tour is a must if you have never been to Bisbee. It's affordable and fun and is the top rated activity to do here. You get to gear up with a hard hat, a lamp and yellow jacket and experience what it was like to be a miner back in the day. A mini train takes you deep into the mine where rich copper ore was once mined back in the early days. The mine itself closed in 1975. The tour guides that take you in are retired Phelps Dodge employees and former miners who are very knowledgeable about what life was like in these mines. I had a lot of fun going on this tour. Make sure you book in advance. Tours depart daily from the Queen Mine Tour Building which isn't too far from the Old Bisbee downtown district. The building itself is pretty spacious with artifacts and a nice gift shop inside.
google avatar

Krissy H.

Yelp
It was a nice tour our guide actually worked the mine when it was in operation back in the day, so that was cool
google avatar

Coleen B.

Yelp
Neil was an awesome guide and the mine was really cool to see. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Mandy T.

Yelp
I highly recommend taking this tour when visiting Bisbee and buying your ticket ahead of time. They do sell out sometimes. Dave was our tour guide and was awesome. They take you underground in a electric cart and tell you about the history of the mine. The tour guides all worked there when it was still operational. They have added a ventilation system so it was the same temperature in the mine as it was outside (70 degrees that day). Please bring cash to tip the tour guide which is customary for any tour. They don't have an ATM on site so we walked a few minutes to one and came back with cash.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Was on the way from Elgin AZ back to Phoenix and decided to stop here. Was not sure what to expect and if it would be geared for tourists or kids, but to my surprise it was a great tour with lots of interesting facts. AND the tour guides were former employee's of when the mine was active, so got some 'colorful' stories about life of the employee's and what it was like to work there. They have also apparently added some fans so the temperature was not as cold and it was a little less musty than it had been in the past! A MUST STOP!!!
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
I've been on a few mine tours and this by far is the best yet! For 2 reasons: 1. The guide inside the mine was a miner himself back in the day. It made the experience feel very authentic and he was able to tell personal stories of working in the mines. 2. The experience of going deep inside the mine riding on a mining cart. I will note:I am pretty claustrophobic and was very anxious about entering the mine. There really aren't any small, enclosed areas. I tried not to think about how far inside we were and just focused on the fun of riding the cart and hearing about how the mine was run. I also felt safe as the tour guide worked many years in a mine and would know the signs if an area was about to collapse (these are the things I think about). Overall, I didn't have too much of an issue with my claustrophobia and I was able to enjoy the tour. This is definitely a must do while in Bisbee! Add it to your list!
google avatar

Barry H.

Yelp
So we left the RV resort and headed south to Bixbee for the Queen Mine Tour. Very informative tour about the silver mine industry in the U.S. and how Bixbee supplied 30% of the world's silver. Fun times going into the earth like the miners did way back when.
google avatar

yvonne o.

Yelp
One of the best tour guides ever! Highly knowledgeable and professional. Frank gave us a wonderful tour despite the fact it was just the two of us! He was very thoughtful as I have a tendency to get claustrophobic. The ride on the trolly was so much fun and the entire experience gave homage to the miners. It's a definite stop and ask for Steve or Frank.
google avatar

Donna S.

Yelp
Very professional well run tour. Guides are knowledgeable and friendly. An hour experience that is fairly priced at $16.

Yelp
When in Bisbee or planning to go there, make sure this Queen Mine Tour is a part of your schedule especially if you have never done it. You can purchase tickets online or on site. Just be there 30 minutes before departure time to give you enough time to purchase them if there is a line. Tickets cost $14 for adults and ages 6 to 13 are $6.50. Ages 0 to 5 are not allowed. Open everyday. Tour times are 9 am, 10:30 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 3:30 pm. The duration is a little over an hour. Wear warm clothing for it gets pretty nippy in the mine. No open toed or high heel shoes allowed. You are provided with a hard hat, safety vest, and individual flashlight. You start the tour by sitting on some carts and are pulled by a single motor cart. You make your way in 1500 feet into the mountain. You don't go up or down. It's a level ride all through out. There are a couple of stops in where your tour guide tells you everything about the history of the place. All the tour guides are former miners so that in itself helps a lot in giving you the rich history. All in all it is a pretty enjoyable activity. The only negatives were that when you are on the actual mine ride, there is a lot of loud squealing coming from the tracks. I suggest you wear some ear protection if you are sensitive to that kind of thing. Also, there some kids that had nothing better to do than shine their flashlights in people's faces. The parents didn't do a damn thing. For me, this is one of those one and done activities. No need to do it again if ever. Yelp 2023 Review #16 909 overall
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Fun tour with an excellent tour guide. Worth taking. The train car ride is great and they go pretty deep into the mine and you get a feeling of what mining was like back in the 1880s.
google avatar

Ava G.

Yelp
SO FUN! This was a really great tour! It was funny, informative, and was the perfect length at 1 hour. The price is good too! $14 per adult. Safety is important here too, which I love to see. Our guide, Neal, was a miner here in the 70s up until they closed for mining. He said he came to work here after his wife passed away to get out and talk to people. He was awesome! I recommend bringing a jacket or sweater because it's way cooler in the mines than it is outside. I also recommend buying tickets ahead of time online because they sell out of tickets!!! They have multiple time slots per day. Come check it out!

Yelp
The tour is good and you get to see farther into the mine. First thing to know, they have parking and restrooms. Second it requires some agility to get on and off their train everyone rides. Third there are stops on the tour where you get off the train and walk or climb stairs. The ticket sales person does not keep track of when the tour is oversold, so we ended up packing on a couple dozen extra people with each train section having 6 people, not 4. (This is the reason for minus 1 star.) When the tour is getting set up, everyone is given a safety vest that's the bright yellow-green fabric. Then they place helmets on each person. This takes forever when there are dozens of extra people. Then you're given a light connected by a cable to a battery. The battery end tucks into a pocket on the vest. The train has one bench down each section and you sit astride it. You need to be able to lift your leg over about chair height after each stop. The tour guide we had used to be a worker in this and other mines. He had great stories to share. It really personalized the experience. It's highly worth the ticket price to see an actual historic mine in a mining town. No dogs, no children under 6, and no backpacks. Bags are OK. It's cool in the mine. They suggest you "dress warmly". I wore a long-sleeve shirt and jeans and was fine. Other people had sweatshirts on and looked cold. It's about 60F inside the mine. They don't tell you that you can't wear a hat but they put the helmet on over the hat and several hatted people's helmets fell off. It's fun and educational. It takes at least an hour and you can't really stop in the middle and leave. (Although they do pause just inside the mine to make sure no one is too claustrophobic.)

Yelp
Very disappointed! We made our reservations the day prior to the tour. We arrived on time and got set up with the helmet and light. The guides sent us out to the tram carts that would carry us into the mine. My wife and I were so excited. I have a bad knee and my walking/stair-climbing are limited. This tour assured us I would be able to navigate the terrain once inside. We waited our turn to get on the tram- which has a cushion down the middle with the expectation of people straddling it like a saddle. The seats filled up before I could get a spot. The only openings for us were some of the ends where the rim for the tires goes up high. My knees cannot bend that far, so we had to have a middle seat. The guides were no help. They didn't ask guests to make room, and no guests volunteered to move. You can see by the photos the trams were booked full. Even if some had wanted to move for us, seems like there was no room anyway. We looked to the guides and said I guess you're overbooked, and we need to get a refund. Their responses were flippant and unconcerned. We went to the ticket desk and explained what happened. The assistant did offer a refund (5-10 business days) but was equally uncaring about the situation. The solution to this issue is so simple. The guides should run the boarding like an airline: those with disabilities or small children get on board first. Then the rest. Why they don't do this is beyond me. The mine tour was our last activity before leaving Bisbee so we couldn't book another time. We were really looking forward to this tour and are disappointed we couldn't enjoy it- especially because we bought our tickets the night before. Queen Mine Tours- fix your process! It's so easy to correct.

Yelp
Neal was our guide and he was fantastic! Lots of great information as a previous employee of the mine. The tour is really interesting to see how miners through the years did the job. You actually get into real areas of the mine where they were getting tons of copper through the 70's. Great tour.

Linda

Yelp
We had such a great time! The train really set it apart from the other mine tours we did. Shawn was our guide. He was so knowledgable and friendly

Yelp
Bisbee is a town that was founded on mining and the wealth it generated, so what better to do when visiting than checking out a mine? I tend a bit claustrophobic but didn't have any issues at all - the shaft you travel through is well lighted and ventilated, and it's pretty big. You'll ride a "train" of sorts that you straddle, and get your own personal flashlight. You'll be provided with a hard hat and vest (sanitized after use) and required to wear close toed shoes. The tour lasts roughly an hour and ours was led by one of the retired miners - it was really interesting to get a firsthand view of how the mine really worked back in the day. You'll get an education interspersed with a ton of quality grandpa-jokes. And if you've ever wondered what miners do when they're deep in the mine and had chili the night before, well - you'll find out. I wish the tour went farther into the mine (you only go 1500ft, stopping a few times to check stuff out) but it's really worth checking out.

Yelp
Very interesting and educational tour. My first time in a mine and it's really a fun experience! The tour guide was a miner for more than 19 years and he makes the tour really informative. Can't wait to bring my boys!

Yelp
Great and friendly employees at this location. Our tour guide was an actual employee in the mine and retired in the 70s. Had our grandson with us and he enjoyed the cart train to go into the mine. Totally recommend this place.
