15 Unique Outdoor Dining Options In London - London - The Infatuation

"Londoners can be fickle creatures. Give us a view, a firepit, and the promise of a glass of ’seccy and we’ll be there as soon as there’s a teeny tiny lick of sunshine. But Queen of Hoxton is a Shoreditch rooftop that’s stood the test of time. One of London’s OG New York-style open rooftops, this place really does commit to creating The Feelgood Vibe. Every season they redecorate, with previous themes like Las Vegas, the Yellow Brick Road, and bohemian Paris. Sure it might all sound a little eye-roll provoking, but the main thing you need to know is that in winter their outdoor wigwam is one of our places to be and in the summer the energy is always absolutely buzzing. If you’re a fan of waffles and having a bloody good time, then their drag brunches are a must." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

The First Timer’s Guide To Drinking In London - London - The Infatuation

"Okay, we’ll be honest - if you want the kind of stunning, vertigo-inducing views that make you feel all Mary Poppins mid-move, then Queen Of Hoxton isn’t for you. But, if you want a cool, somewhat kooky, roof garden where you can roast marshmallows over big fire pits in the winter, and drink a strong spritz in the summer, then this place should go straight to the top of your list. In the midst of the city skyscrapers, their rooftop changes theme, but the iconic teepee always remains." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver

Queen of Hoxton Review - Shoreditch - London - The Infatuation

"The Queen of Hoxton is a Shoreditch boozer with a rooftop set aside for drinking on. For some reason, lots of rooftops have a colourful aesthetic going on. Apparently this raises the ‘summer vibes’ tenfold. The Queen of Hoxton is one of those places. Its current theme is ‘Lost Vegas’, and although we don’t really understand what that means, if lots of bits and bobs (for the ’gram) is your sort of thing you’ll love this place. Arrive early to get your content and conversations in before it gets rammed." - Jake Missing

Great roof terrace, bar and night club all under one roof! We visited twice in one day, first for some drinks on the sunny roof terrace and then later on to dance the night away after a late bit of Hijingo bingo. Only giving 4/5 as some of the bar staff were a bit abrasive, but it was a busy night during pride week and to be fair they were probably exhausted! Drag performers that evening were absolutely fantastic and really made the night, anyone and everyone is welcome here and the feeling of unity is real 🤍 Highly recommend if in the area, close to loads of cool activities such as Hijingo, Junkyard Golf and Spitalfields Market which is a lovely wander! Good vibes here and probably some of the coolest toilets in a bar I've seen - Britney for me!

Google
Went to an event there, was very satisfied with the food and drinks were also lovely! Loved the frozen margaritas the most, like an alcoholic smoothie :) Also very cute toilets with music artist names on each door and song lyrics inside

Bought tickets for an event, they said it started 2 hours later than what advertised. Very few non alcoholic options and the cloakroom somehow seems closed after 10??

I highly recommend for a fun, vibrant evening in London! We had an absolutely amazing time at Queen of Hoxton for Kiki’s Drag Cabaret! The performances were spectacular, with incredible charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent from the Queens, some of whom had even competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race (!!) 🤩. They truly lit up the room and had the audience completely on fire!! After the show, we stayed at the bar, where the vibe was just as electric. The music was on point, the atmosphere was buzzing, and the whole experience made for an unforgettable night, round after round of drinks (strongly recommend the Porn Star Martinis).

Really lovely night out, with great cocktails and staff. The rooftop bar was very fun and a great place to hang out (if you can get a seat). The music played was danceable and later in the night it was a great vibe!

Emma Laugraud

Google
Really nice and efficient bartender. The vibe was dead, there was no access to the rooftop on a Thursday night which was a shame so we took takeaway cups and left to another pub.

I went to a drag brunch at the queen of Hoxton so I didn’t get the full bar experience but let me tell you, I had the most incredible time! It was my first time at a drag brunch and I was nervous but from the moment you get to the door you’re welcomed with a wonderful energy that gets you in the party mood. Our hosts were amazingly bubbly and made it easy to forget we were getting day drunk in the middle of the afternoon. The bottomless booze was VERY bottomless with severs floating around effortlessly ensuring my glass was never empty. The chicken and waffles was great, no notes, would eat again and again. For the sweet waffles the venue kindly and diligently honoured my request for the vegan ice cream. My only complaint is that the “bottomless” sweet waffles were served too late for me to get another round in (also, there should be a chocolate option but that’s just me being a chocoholic!). This may have been my first rodeo but it certainly won’t be my last! Thank you Queen of Hoxton for a wonderful birthday.

Great venue to enjoy the sunset on the rooftop or rent one of the private rooms! The rooftop has themed decorations per seasons with fireplaces and outdoor seating as well as indoor warmth areas. The hot chocolate is delicious and they have a big selection of wines beers and cocktails

Yelp
Great space, multiple levels, amazing rooftop, good drinks, and more. Will definitely be back. Staff was welcoming and inviting. Don't miss this gem.

Yelp
Drinks: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 Always nice to have a rooftop patio to chill at that is easy to get in when you're in a big city. Great/different type of scenery and fairly good beer/mixed drinks as well. It is slightly small so a little cramped right after the work hours. Service can be slightly slow. We didn't try the food or go downstairs so my rating is purely about the rooftop only. See the pics!

Yelp
If you're older than the typical university student, not looking for a hook up, and appreciate personal space..... this is definitely not for you. Before getting in, we waited in a horrific queue. Cover charge. Stupidly overcrowded. So dark to the point people are tripping and spilling all over one another. The floors are soaked. Despite all the people, it wasn't too difficult getting a drink at the bar. Music was not good. The downstairs looked like a smoke machine lost control, but that's where the bathrooms were so hard to avoid that. Different music downstairs compared to upstairs. Not any better. There's an outdoor area, but it was too cold for that. My friends and I made the most out of it and used the photobooth, then we peaced out. Maybe if you're a teenager you'll enjoy the scene. I prefer a bit more class.

Yelp
What a special place! We were dropping by quite spontaneously and I was amazed by the size and decoration of the place, as well as the many people hanging out here on a monday night! There were some people playing their ukulele, singing, playing table tennis, sitting on the rooftop by the fire, enjoying their drinks. Such a nice atmosphere. I definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
Wigwam....ukulele....ping pong......a Monday night at queen of Hoxton. This is a place that has never been afraid of changing things up and last night shows that perfectly. If you are willing to take the many flights of stairs to the roof you find yourself inside a smokey wigwam complete with wood and fairly lights. There are seats inside the wig wam but we decided to sit outside around the fire on toadstools and logs......as you do! The festival vibe of the upstairs was great but as the roof was closing we decided to have another drink in he downstairs bar area. This turned into singing/dancing to a ukulele band and an impromptu ping pong tournament. Monday just had an upgrade....thanks QOH!

Yelp
Hmmm, Curtain Road is a funny place. It seems that no matter where you decide to go, the moment that you cross the threshold of the flash bars on this Shoreditch street, things become very very very samey. The Queen of Hoxton is no exception, and as a reincarnation of Industry - former inhabitant of 1, Curtain Road, it really has made no grand effort to buck the trend of pseudo trendy sweatboxes that litter this lynchpin street in Shoreditch. I think there's a formula for setting up a bar in Shoreditch: 1) Pick name with trite reference to location / old-time glamour. 2) Adorn walls with 'authentic' memorabilia of this area's East End roots. 3) Have some kind of quirk in the decor - be it bespoke furniture, moody lighting or, in this case a cinema billboard above the bar (which is quite cool actually) 4) Choose aptly eclectic new wave remix / electro pop / '80s soundtrack. 5) Have cocktail/wine list scrawled on blackboard somewhere. 6) Have bar staff with hats, DVT-inducing trousers, waistcoats and rakish haircuts. 7) fill said joint with brutish leisure pirates. The Queen of Hoxton certainly follows these gospel rules, and pulls off a nice job of it. Grainy black and white photographs of F. Cooke's eel shop on Hoxton Street, local pundits and Haggerston park adorn the walls, and street art style murals cloud the windows looking out on the street. There's also a piano that, if you were able to hear it, would make a change from Duran Duran, and the live venue (as in Industry) is pretty good. Sadly, despite my bourbon and ginger being suitably tart, and my friend's champagne chilled and expertly poured, this Shoreditch spot hardly differentiates from any of the other similar experiences up the road. I guess one plus is that it's nearer Liverpool Street, but that can be hardly classed as a benefit.

Yelp
First thought: So cozy! In the winter, they make an effort to provide nice respite from the cold. I really loved it. The drink menu was a bit limited, but I'm sure they would have accommodated special requests, within reason. Staff was friendly enough.

Yelp
Hipster joint with hipster drinks and hipster food. Cocktails are tasty, generous and well made. Music was fun too. Def going back.

Yelp
Such a great spot in Shoreditch. If you're looking for a non-pretentious night out in London this is your go too. Great music, lots of dancing, fairly priced drinks and fantastic location. They did charge a 8 pound cover to get in but to be fair it was a Saturday night and compared to other spots it isn't too bad. The line (queue) to get in was wrapped around the side but moved pretty quickly and the bouncers were very nice so don't let that steer you away from checking it out. They have a downstairs area that had a DJ and then there's a large bar with some room for dancing on the main level. Stairs lead up to an outdoor rooftop which in the daytime looks incredible. Sadly it was the late evening so we didn't get the capture all it's glory but very nice to have a outdoor area within a great nightlife venue!

Yelp
Been to the Queen of Hoxton a couple of times and have mixed feelings. First time I came for a dub bass night that was free entry. The evening proved too popular, so they dealt with this by making it VIP only. Thought one in one out would have been fairer, but never mind. Went back last week to see a film on the rooftop and it was gorgeous, lots of fairy lights and great views. The popcorn, blankets and beach huts made it even more special. Food on offer was average BBQ fare. They did not have a great drink selection, only took cash, long queue and bit of attitude from some of the staff. They would not let us into the bar either downstairs or upstairs, contrary to what they wrote on their website, due to them having a private function just beforehand. They really should have pre warned everyone. Probably would go again for the right film.

Yelp
Boom. It's landed. One of my absolute favourite spaces in Shoreditch, the wrong side of Curtain Road but the right side of my heart. Shameless promotion coming but girls (men as guests) club night Mannequin is riding high on the crest of its first birthday. Billed as 'an eclectic night of electro fiflth and indie disco ~ where Soho chic meets Shoreditch kitsch' the inventors of this dynamic concept have elevated the brand to somewhat cultish status even after the untimely fire unleashed at last venue Sosho. Ex girlfriend conspiracy or psychic curse, the jury's out... Actually the Queen of Hoxton is a better venue. Roomier, quirkier with a bespoke set of toilet stalls to suit every lychee martini swilling girl about town. Totty on ice baby, http://www.mannequin-social.com . Lesbians in stilettos, vive la revolution.

Yelp
You know what - I've been coming to this bar for about 5 years but pretty much always forget it's there, the plan is always to go deeper into Shoreditch but when walking past it's hard to resist, even though the beer selection is complete rubbish and the decor is wipe down club night... What I like is that in this definition of hipster bar, there's always interesting things going on which are super cool. The rooftop bar on this occasion was transformed into a giant wigwam (I've been to summer BBQ's and caribbean parties up here...) with fires, hot cocktail bars and a treehouse - yep, we're in East London here people! Taking 12 of my friends and colleagues here, they all had a great time and throw in 'Ukulele Monday' (yep this is a thing, turn up play mass uku's with friends) and a pretty much disco ping pong table where you can't see where the ball is going and there is nowhere better to randomly start off the week.

Yelp
Ukulele mondays and now a weird tipi on the rooftop where they have campfires? I know I shouldn't be surprised. It's London, right? Anything can happen (and I have been to very weird places). But I was genuinely pleased to find such a friendly event in this area. Their "ukulele hootananys" (sic) are great fun and provide a very welcome distraction from the Monday blues you can feel sometimes. They've also got a ping pong table and lots of other events during the week. Staff is usually friendly and puts up with all the ukulele playing and singing every monday with a smile (sometimes we are very bad and butcher some songs like Wonderwall or Creep). And the rooftop is really good, extremely hipster of course but hey, this is East London. I often take friends from out of town there, it's conveniently located right next to Liverpool Street station and is a fairly good experience. However on weekends... not my crowd. Or rather, too big a crowd for me. People are often queuing to get in though, which probably means that I'm the weird one here haha! Prices are ok, their cocktails are all under £8 but I knocked off a star because they charge too much for soda water I think. It's drink of choice when I don't want to have alcohol or to slow down between two other drinks. It's usually between free and 50p in other places but here I think it's £1.20 for a pint. Of soda water. Well played, though, because sometimes I just end up having a pint because I figure it's probably better value for money...

Yelp
I've been a lad my whole life. It's somewhat of a matter of principle, of etiquette. When I go somewhere, I make sure it's made clear that I'm a lad, and I work hard to sustain that throughout the evening. Going to watch die hard should have been child's play. Instead I'm immediately put on the back foot by being made to wear headphones that make me look like i'm working a pneumatic drill. I'm then made to watch a film on a screen that has the contrast ratio of a bed sheet after the Daz challenge. In short, if you're a lad and you don't want to come away questioning why you even bother, don't come here.

Yelp
Wayne and Tom were awesome bartenders!! I love this bar! Tiny guitar playing looked like fun

Yelp
Very hipster, but creative. We went for the roof wigwam, which they had done a fantastic job on, I really felt like I was in a fairy tale! The drinks were also delicious, and the food was in very large quantities but of average quality. Though we didn't spend much time downstairs, it seems to be an interesting vibe - kind of strange and a little bit punk/hipster, but the staff was really nice and helpful.

Yelp
On the last Friday of every month, this place hosts a live karaoke night! Sing your heart out alongside a live 5 piece funk band! Excellent entertainment (for singers & for the audience!) What's not to love?! Defo recommend for a great night out!
google avatar

Lysh J.

Yelp
I went here for the first time last week and thought I'd try something different from my usual drum & bass/ dubstep night! I had the best time. The venue is spacious and cosy. They have classic arcade games and a pool table, two rooms and cheap cheap drinks! You've got two rooms, both playing similar music but the only difference is the room downstairs also plays live music! I saw a band called Beaty Heart - they played some fantastic world music/electronica. I was glad for a different experience, which is definitely what I got. Also, on the upside, is the friendly bouncers. You can go in and out for a fag as much as you like and no one moans at you. Give it a go, I had a good time!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh, Curtain Road. You never fail to please. Whenever I'm in need of being surrounded by people trying really, really hard, you're always there for me. Queen of Hoxton did not disappoint in this respect. Free-pour drinks which is good, but crowd was very Absolute Vintage. Tres exhausting.
google avatar

Yelp
If you want to sweat a lot and have people that you don't know rub up against you this is the place to be. Far too loud and too many dubious types trying to sell Class 'A' substances to people that really just need some fresh air. As an experience this place is is probably much like, albeit marginally less unpleasant than say, colonic irrigation in a sauna. .......................and the Queen of Hoxton is not in Hoxton...Shoreditch maybe at a pinch, but about a mile from Hoxton.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
I love the rooftop beer garden. Its super cool, and I plan on spending a good few evenings enjoying good weather up here this summer. On top of that, they have excellent pitchers of Pimms+lemonade, filled with so much fruit that you almost need a spoon! They also have a grill on the roof. The only problem is how expensive everything is. Pitchers of pimms are £15, draft beers (and you can only get asahi) were £4, and cans were over £3 (redstripe only). I shudder to think how much ordering food off their grill would be. Of course, you could walk down to the pub area to get many other beers, but they are just as expensive and you would have to walk down 4 flights of stairs to get there. All in all, definitely come here. It's just plain cool to drink on the roof. But don't plan on spending too much time there unless you have a sugar-daddy/mama buying your drinks.

Yelp
Hmm! Queen of Hoxton, I've heard so much about you and wanted to like you. But, after our first encounter, I'm just not feeling the love. I attended a Wellnote event in the WigWam on the rooftop early one Saturday evening in December. It started out well. Hot buttered rum and some pleasant interaction with fellow music lovers. And the WigWam all cool and groovy with it's rough hewn logs, etc... But all change once the event was over and the place started filling out. The BBQ kicked into gear and started belching out smoke and stinging my eyes. The Saturday night revellers started hustling for seats and cast resentful looks if you messed up their plans for a group seating. If you wanted to explore the room you got shouldered around by hipsters aggressively defending their footing on the rooftop. I'm too old to have patience with this kinda nonsense! And I left shortly. All is not lost, Queenie. I know everyone has an off day. We started on rocky ground, but there's room for growth. I know I've only given you a 3 star, but I've not ruled out the option of revisiting and chancing a better experience.

Yelp
AVOID AT THE WEEKEND. I've been to The Queen of Hoxton various times in the week, and it definitely is a great place to go for a not - so - heavy week night. Particularly love the rooftop beer garden. So, one Saturday, deciding I did in fact want a heavy night I unfortunately ventured to The Queen of Hoxton. Error. I guess it's not their fault that Shoreditch of a weekend has now extended an arm and a leg to our Essex brothers and sisters, but apparently it meant that one of my favourite weekday venues chose to wholehearedly cater to them. After hearing that very annoying Major Lazer song TWICE on the ground floor I ventured into the basement - where apparently I'd missed some pretty good bands, actually - only to hear the same playlist as upstairs come on downstairs. Major Lazer three times on a Saturday night is hardly appealing Every time I tried to make the night better with a double rume and coke I had to wait about 45 minutes at the bar to get noticed by a not so formidable looking spice boy, who clearly favoured the Amy Childs and Sam Fairers of the evening (that's right - I'm a fan.) Fare thee well Shoreditch. Guess I'll just go to Dalston to dance.
google avatar

Yinnie C.

Yelp
Can I have two separate review for QoH? Because I honestly fell in love with the roof terrace with the wigwam, and the barbeque and the hot alcohol punches. (The mulled cider was yummy!) Hot Drinks, Fairy Lights and heaters looking over a crisp chilly London? There are times like these when I don't want winter to end. Downstairs was an another story, which I would hate to give even a star to. First piece of advice: when the wigwam closes, LEAVE, seriously, you won't miss anything, because this is when it starts to get hipster scummy. I had a really bad experience with some people getting all in my face, and then getting her boyfriend involved. I'm 4ft11, they're tall people, and I just felt i was being picked on. And that put a spoil on my night. Not to say all clientele were bad, I met some lovely people but it was just too rammed in there, apparently, it's not so much a hipster secret anymore (it's on the corner away from any other bars). It's more student-y these days and I don't think I can take young and entitled hipster scum who think they can bully their way round a bar with sticky floors and mediocre cocktails. I just can't do it.

Yelp
My first night out in London and what a treat - I got to enjoy The Queen with all the London Yelpers! This place has a little bit of everything. The main floor is a typical bar, great place to chill out and get tipsy with friends and co-workers. The rooftop is a magical beer garden with amazing views of the city and lots of young bachelors in suits. The real party begins when you head down to the basement and all of a sudden you're immersed in trance/electro beats - yes please! All in all had a great night here - thanks for showing the American girl a good time!
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
The rooftop is spectacular. I have no complaints about the roof, and it really is the main selling point for the Queen of Hoxton. The bar's biggest problems are that use of the roof is limited due to noise ordinances and liability issues. For example, if it's been raining they don't open the rooftop. I learned this the hard way the other night, which sucked because by the time we realized the roof was closed we had already paid £5 each just to get in. Wig Wam Bam is a blast in the wintertime. Can you think of anything better than sitting in a warm tent that smells like roasting meat and pine wood, with a cup of warm mulled wine and roasted marshmallows? I can't. I really can't. HOWEVER - as a few other reviewers have said, the rooftop bar is the best part of the Queen of Hoxton by a considerable margin. The ground floor bar is okay. It's loud, it's sticky, but it's manageable and it can be fun, which makes it just like any other bar in Shoreditch. The basement though. They close the roof at 10PM sharp every night, at which point they herd everybody downstairs. They start directing people into the basement when the ground floor reaches capacity. The only way I can describe the basement is that it's a dive club. It's seedy, smelly, sweaty, and for some reason there are these humongous booths that take up half of the available standing space, and the people who supposedly booked them never seem to actually be using them. Really odd. Basically... go here, check out the roof, DEFINITELY check out Wig Wam Bam, but as soon as the clock strikes 10, get outta there.

Yelp
This used to be Industry. Industry was always a bit nearer the City of London than a good Hoxtonite would like. Because of that it got a different class of drunken inhabitant; the City crowd for after work and the train crowd straight off the overland from Essex. Queen of Hoxton has slightly reversed this and pulled this end of Curtain Road back up into Hoxton. A makeover as basic as some vintage crap, fake ivy and a band showdown cinema screen have obviously made the City and train crowd feel a bit out of their comfort zone since they weren't really in evidence. It was therefore what you would expect from Hoxton but with a bit of a newer venue and some tarter drinks. We went for a friend's leaving party and they let us 'book' out an area. As you will notice when you go a couple of A4 sheets of paper with someone's name on it don't really do the job of reserving a space here. However, given that it was free you can't really complain. Last night was the best night I had had in there for a while which was intimately linked to the fact that London's early Indian summer had disappeared which meant that it wasn't like the sauna inside that it had been previously. Good fun but not one to come in from Essex for.
google avatar

Yelp
I like this spot. I've only been here a handful of times, but have managed to enjoy myself on each occaion. The real draw, in the summer, has to be the roof garden. Keep going up the stairs into what seems like a council block stairwell and you'll eventually pop out onto a sun trap that overlooks the area around it. Great for the summer. The two times I've been here for a night out, we've ended up downstairs in the basement. Often catching half decent bands. One time a chap was playing an accoustic cover of an obscure Ocean Colour Scene song that only a lapsed old fan like myself would recognise. Turns out the whole room recognised it too. Turned out it was the singer from OCS playing an accoustic set. Nice. It's a lot of fun here. Come for a big night and you'll enjoy yourself. Head to the roof top on a sunny afternoon and you'll not want the weekend to end. Ever.

Yelp
Pros: Beautiful people, beautiful rooftop, great view, had Briska pear cider on tap (!), pretty delicious-looking BBQ going on in the summertime Cons: HOT AS BALLS (both on the roof and especially in the indoor/downstairs bar), extra long queues for the rooftop bar, overpriced drinks (£7.50 for an aperol spritz? it's mostly soda water!), your usual Shoreditch scenesters It's definitely worth going at least once, for the view, and probably once again for Rooftop Film Club. With so many bars on Curtain Road, though, it may be a while before I'm back at the Queen of Hoxton.
google avatar

Liam R.

Yelp
Both times we have come here to enjoy the wigwam on the roof. The 2014-2015 wigwam had better food than the 2015- 2016 wigwam, but both are fun. Decent winter warmer cocktails, fun atmosphere, an happy to switch to beer once a couple cocktails have been consumed. However we wary of the cover charge later in the day, as it is not worth it unless you plan to stay around and dance in the grungy basement.
google avatar

Liz E.

Yelp
I used to frequent this place quite a bit when it was Industry for their infamous dice game after work. However, since the change, I hadn't been in a while...until last night. I think it definitely put the effort in to revamp this place giving it a more of a east london feel saying so long to the suit and tie crowd. But given that, this wouldn't be my first choice for some authentic east london shenanigans. The place wasn't packed, but that almost made it more enjoyable. Music was great..went on a deep house night. Downstairs was HOT with large fans around that didn't get the job done. I had a fun night out, but i think more so because i made it fun than because of the venue.
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
I love this place, the downstairs vibe and the rooftop bar. Even has cinema events up there during summer. I don't like the stairs however. It seems like it takes forever to walk it but this hidden away place down the darker end of curtain road is a great place on weekends. All in all I love the music and though the bar can be hard to get served at peak times it's a really fun place.

Yelp
Two words: roof top, it's the only reason to hit this spot and it's awesome. The prices are normal (£7 for a Red Stripe and bottle of cider) and the indoors are dark but climb 4 or 5 floors to the roof top and everything is better and worth writing about. The Rooftop Film Club has a pretty good operation going, too.

Yelp
Another sunny day, another rooftop bar... The Queen of Hoxton is actually one of the more well known rooftop bars in London, and it's not really in Hoxton, it's really closer to Liverpool Street (big misnomer). When I went on a Sunday afternoon, the indoors area was completely deserted and there wasn't even someone serving at the bar there so there's no way to avoid the bar queue on the rooftop. But meanwhile, up there, all the seats and tables were taken and people were sitting on nearly every inch of the fake grass lawn, and there was about a 15 person queue for the bar at all times. I got a pitcher of Pimm's (20 pounds, about average among the prices I've seen), and they were also serving pear cider or Asahi on tap... Asahi was quite odd because no one was ordering it on a hot sunny day, and the pear cider was the only other decent option they had... why would you have not have an apple cider at least? Later on, we got some food off the barbecue, which was 7.50 for a main with a few sides (they have about 5 choices for the main, we got the chicken skewers, you get 2 of them). I thought that was quite good value for what it was. I've never been there at night or in the winter, but I can definitely tell you that on a sunny day in London, the rooftop will be packed!

Yelp
We experienced a Viking Christmas on their rooftop when we visited! A very cool and also unique experience. They even had fire pits to roast marshmallows on - so delightful and cozy!

Yelp
My birthday last year, we started out trying to dance (on a friday night no less) at the electric ballroom. That was a giant fail. Epic. So we sought a way to save the night and found the Queen. It was an entertaining little place, not crazy enough to be a typical Hoxton club, but quite busy enough. the drinks were good, nothing too elaborate and the people were super friendly! The highlight of the night was the old fashioned football game upstairs...or maybe it was basketball, I'm not sure. I only remember that I won all the games in a sweep that would have made the Lakers proud (or maybe Man U.) The reason it's three stars with all the positive things noted is that it didn't stand out to me. It's not a place I'd travel all the way to Hoxton for, and I'm not sure if I had other choices if I wouldn't head to Shoreditch or another place first. It's a very ambivalent place. The music was a little too rastifarian for my taste but the place made my birthday night better after the fail earlier in the night so I might give this place a go again.

Yelp
Of course this place is amazing on a Saturday night but i came here on a sunny afternoon on a Sunday and was very disappointed. Although it does look nice, there was no atmosphere at all and all you could hear was the workers next door who were EXTREMELY loud with their power tools. The atmosphere was lacking that much that my friend even asked the bar staff if they could play some kind of music even quietly to try and drown out the power tool noise but they weren't allowed to because of the apartments, not sure why the construction workers were allowed to though. Anyway we drank our drinks as quickly as possible and headed back to Box Park where it was lively and bustling with people.

Yelp
It's hipster central. The bar reminds me of a few others in London especially with the set-up and the way overpriced cocktails. It's much cheaper to go for the ciders/beers. There is a rooftop bar, but I never got to check it out when I was there. Go if you want some fun, interesting music. Don't go if you are looking to be able to sit down and catch up with friends.

Yelp
Good locash for all your hipster needs, including tons of male ferormones, beards and deeply unfresh armpits, and overall mediocre drinks and mediocre food - BUT outstanding rooftop that gives you the ability of smoke and drink yourself silly while shamelessly flirting with River, the owner of the aforementioned beard and pits, who is totes looking your way wondering if the tight slutty pencil skirt you're sporting will be coming off while watching Sleepless in Seattle on the outdoor screens. Book the movies by the way - or risk forever being banished.

Yelp
I had a great time here last month. The only downside was the inexcusably rude female bartender. She had dark hair and wore heavy makeup. I understand it was a busy Friday but openly groaning and rolling your eyes at customers is not okay. She was completely unprofessional and honestly over dramatic. I wanted 2 drinks, which wasn't a heavy order considering that is HER JOB. It made me not want to go back up to the bar and face her wrath.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday, just before all the city folk finished work so there weren't many people there at all. As I already needed the toilet when I walked in, that's the first place I went. Got to say, the cleanest toilets I've seen in a bar so well done Queen of Hoxton. The Queen Of Hoxton is literally just around the corner to Liverpool Street Station. Firstly, I get that to get to the rooftop terrace you'll need to climb a couple flights of stairs but there were literally so many stairs! Can they not install an elevator or something?! The rooftop terrace was a lot smaller than I thought it would be, there's seating up there and a small bar of course. I was impressed with the little food shack they have next to the bar. Unfortunately I didn't give the food a try but it smelled divine. Drinks here are reasonably priced for London. FYI ladies, there seemed to be a fair few gorgeous men admire. Lastly, I feel like this place has so much potential to be better, the decor on the inside could do with jazzing up a bit to give it more atmosphere. We also got served at the bar by some lady who looked like she'd never smiled a day in her life.

Yelp
This is a very cool bar just on the edge of Shoreditch. I came here for the Moo party which was fab. lots of nice touches, but I think these were Moo touches rather than QofH touches. I don't know about you, but I don't want to drink wine out of a plastic pint glass. Oh, alright, I did find it fun at the time. I like the decor - it's a bit "aren't we cool with our msimatched crap" kind of tacky, but it works. The bar is cool, the cocktails are pretty great. I wish they'd put some lights on the roof though. It's gettin' dark now, folks. Oh, and one more thing. Can you move the cigarette machine down a bit? I'm know not the tallest girl in the world, but I shouldn't have to ask for help to put money in a machine. Makes me look silly.

Yelp
Is it cool that they have a rooftop? Yes! Is the rooftop's fun picnic/playground/streetart vibe cool? Yes! I also thought that the partially raw chicken with one piece of halloumi was cool until I got the replacement rock hard fallafels. So... We were a group of 7 for a week day lunch. Office just moved in the area so we thought we'd see what they had to offer. Certainly won't be coming back here again. On arrival downstairs was empty, we hiked up the stairs to the roof, I was pleasantly surprised and excited at being able to eat outdoors on a rooftop in pseudo grey intermittently sunny weather. There were a few groups up there already but still plenty of seats. We got a bench. Service was slow and borderline mediocre. Food took a while, by the time it arrived I was starving. Had ordered the chicken and halloumi which comes with slaw with extra side of sweet potato. 'Looked' good. What I got were pieces of undercooked chicken on skewers with one piece of halloumi and some under seasined sour coleslaw. I'd eaten a couple of pieces and thought the texture was odd. Had to enduce a vom in the toilets. My colleague got the same raw chicken. We went up to tell the staff, he didn't seemed concerned at all about food poisoning but we were offered replacements. I opted for vege option, fallafels.. They were disgusting. Rock hard. Bullets. Texture was like 'just add water' fallafel mix with random whole chick peas here and there. The outside of the fallafels were super hard we could've broken windows with them. My friend got salmon as a replacement, that poor fish got ruined with some weird marinade and smelled a little fishy. Needless to say we didn't eat much. Felt ill all night. Definitely wasn't worth the wait for the two rounds of bad food. There are over 300 ppl we work with and I don't think they will be coming here either.

Yelp
Was planning on coming for New Years, however when I told my dad this he told me not to go. He said he had come to the Queen Of Hoxton before and him and his friend were not served- it was made clear they were not 'cool' enough, people avoided serving him and his friend so they ended up leaving. This is grotesquely unfair just because he wasn't in keeping with the usual clientele the venue's staff felt the need to humiliate and embarrass him when in reality he would have spent far more than the usual 'hipster' coming through the doors. Disappointed that a venue that looked/seemed so fun would behave in such a manner. Shame on you Queen of Hoxton for treating someone this way. *EDIT* I went today with a friend to make my own opinion of the place- my dad was right. Rude staff who can't even pour a proper pint with a hideous attitude problem- customer service means nothing to you guys and it's appalling quite frankly. However the venue was clean and the decor was cool.

Yelp
Great place for an event for sure - I've been to a couple of Le Cool do's here and they are currently curating the artwork being displayed in the toilet cubicles - beware of the scary owl if you've had one too many downstairs has a cool little stage for some intimate band action or video screenings and they even do a form of toss the boss behind the bar some nights so you can get your drinks for free - if you get lucky. never made it up to the roof terrace - more for weather reasons than anything else - but I want to check it out cos if it's like the rest of the place then I'm sure it'll be lovely

Yelp
The Queen of Hoxton, located not at Hoxton Square (beware) but tucked away near Liverpool Street station. Thankfully, this helps avoiding such an amazing place to hardly ever be rammed. It has its wacky shoreditch-like decor and loads of room to lounge or to stand and wiggle to pop (the good sort of) tunes. It clearly stands out from any other place round there in the summer. A little trip four floors upstairs take you to the terrace, passing by an impressive random collection of street and comic art that look more commissioned than spontaneous. Once there, you can chill out under the sun beams, surrounded by the beauty of the City, with as many skyscrapers as ruined buildings.

Yelp
Great location and views. The upstairs bar could do with expanding their range compared to what is available on the ground floor. Went for advertised Levi Roots' preview BBQ on the roof terrace. Surly chefs damaged Levi's efforts of a marketing charm offensive to attract punters for his new restaurant - waiting over an hour for Asda value chicken covered in his trademark sauce and cheap white bread (I had overheard Levi discussing best place to source cheap chicken with one of QoH's staff) is seriously not good enough. Will be going back to Queen of Hoxton as it as a great place to chill out, but recommend you avoid Levi's new restaurant as our experience of food is nothing to shout about. QoH: 4/5 Levi Roots': 1/5

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while, but the promise of a gingerbread cocktail and marshmallows are a hook even before the pull of Christmas. Not as "fairy tale" like as promised ( we are children of Disney of course ), but a lovely comfy evening amongst the smell of log fire. The cocktails were lovely, as was the three meat bun ( less acclaim for the schnitzel, underwhelming ), and the place was relaxing. I do realise it was a Tuesday, but we were unexpectedly involved in a daring game of drawing which resulted in free drinks so how could you complain. Recommend !

Yelp
Another spot for excellent cocktails in Shoreditch. Named after the self-styled Queen of Hoxton Sara Lane, they also have an excellent cocktail named after her and I have to say it is the BEST on their menu. It comes highly recommended, and I should know I have had more than just a few. In the summer, the rooftop is awesome with grat views over the city, and quite frequently 'meetups' are organized here, and with so much space I can see why. In the basement they have music, but as yet I haven't quite sampled that delight. For drinks it is pretty much a no brainer and well worth the visit.
