There's a lot to like about this linear park along the Niagara, but unfortunately also some problems. The promenade that runs at the edge of the gorge has some great views of both the American and Horseshoe falls, but it's really much too narrow. It's often just a few feet of walkway shoehorned against the Niagara Parkway, and not even on a single level. They seem to have the original walkway then you can step off the curb onto a few extra feet carved out of the street with barriers. In fact, if you're not paying attention, it's quite possible to fall off that curb that way. It's also not stroller or wheelchair-friendly except at a few points where they've put temporary ramps. Please, Canada, fill the new space with a surface at the same level of the original. As it is, even the widened path is so congested at times that it's like trying to walk on a busy Manhattan street - an exercise in frustration.
New York removed part of the Robert Moses Parkway to make the area much more pedestrian-friendly. (A million curses on Moses' name.) I can only hope Canada, usually more progressive than the US, will follow suit by getting rid of the intrusive traffic on the parkway and expanding the park. The occasional garden along the park is much more along the lines of what they've done right.
