We held a small wedding breakfast here and felt that I need to post a review! Alex and team where exceptional. Gabriel was excellent; making us aware of issues and advising us to how things were going. The food was amazing (with good choice), the service was fanasitic. We stayed the night and breakfast was also excellent. We had looked at a number of places but we were very happy with our choice.

It's a very impressive looking historic hotel that dates to the time of Queen Victoria -- aptly named Queens Hotel. We stayed in a junior suite that overlooked the park. It was very large but not the most modern. Bed great. Bath okay -- walk in shower. Most important, it was very clean. There is one small lift in hotel. Lobby is tiny but breakfast/dining rooms very nice. Parking on site but can get full. It's nicely located near plenty of restaurants and an easy walk down the Promenade to the downtown. Heat was not yet on in early October when we visited, which was odd. They had some space heaters in the closet, which we used. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I would recommend staying here.

The hotel is well-situated in Cheltenham, and Reception staff were friendly and helpful. |The bathroom in our Classic Room was clean and modern. The bedroom was a bit too small for the large sized bed, and made smaller by an apparently unnecessary box arrangement around the window. There was no desk/dressing table, and only a stool to sit on. We asked reception for a chair, which was provided; thankfully I could fit into it, but a larger person would struggle! Bottled water, and a small container of fresh milk, in the mini- fridge were welcome additions. The room was a bit too hot, changing the heating controls made no apparent difference, so we had to open the window, until the sound of the wind whistling past it kept us awake. |The rest of the hotel had a bit of a gloomy feel to it, with boring monochrome art on the walls. There were some used tissues on the floor of the lift that stayed in place for 48 hours. The lounge was only available for part of our visit, and it was cold and unwelcoming; I’m not sure why there was no fire in the fireplace. When it was in use for a conference, some seating was provided in the reception area, but it didn’t feel cosy at all. I had hoped to enjoy sitting in a pleasant lounge reading a book, but I couldn’t. |The breakfast fast menu was acceptable, and the female restaurant staff were friendly and helpful; the male staff were much less so! On the first day there were mistakes with our order, on the second we were initially given someone else’s order, however the quality of the food was good and the restaurant was a pleasant place in which to eat. |We didn’t try the restaurant for an evening meal as the menu didn’t appeal to either of us.

I recently hosted a company conference for 30 delegates at The Queens Hotel. I could not have been happier. Conference rooms were large, comfortable and well equipped. Guest rooms were excellent, food and service was first class. Location in the heart of Cheltenham was amazing, and a large car park on-site.

We only had one night in Cheltenham, but staying at this hotel was a good choice. The building is impressive and the service was great. Our room was lovely and spacious and the bed was so comfortable we were tempted to stay longer. The buffet breakfast was typical English with options to order various dished from the kitchen, served in a light conservatory on the side of the building. A wonderful experience overall.

Let me say, the room was very nice. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice as well. Great location close to restaurants and pubs. So the reason for the low score was the service. The people at the desk were ok but acted like they could not wait for the shift to end. We went for a drink at the bar and the Bartender was no where to be found. When he finally showed up he was not nice at all. Seemed put out that we ordered a drink. After he served us, he disappeared again and at least 3 other couples walked up looking for service and finally gave up and left. The entire experience at the hotel was uninviting. It was clear that this was their culture as no one went to the bar, no one in their restaurant.

A fantastic location, beautiful rooms and friendly staff, can all be expected at The Queens hotel. The hotel sits at the top of the best shopping street and bars in Cheltenham. There is also the very pretty park just outside the hotel. There is parking at £15 per night, very useful indeed. The rooms are spacious and quiet even with the night life going on around you. The suites are large and have huge beds in. The staff are always friendly and polite and can't do enough to be helpful. Breakfast was the only place I would mark down. The full English was all just a bit under cooked, limp hashbrowns and hard tomatoes. The continental could do with better breads and more interesting cheese. And maybe warm pastries. The hotel itself is clean and very well presented and styled.

A visit to 'The Queens' was to be a rare expensive treat for us and to begin with it didn't disappoint. We were seated in a conservatory annex which was lovely. The table service was excellent and the food not excellent, but I would say very good/ good. I have had better for less money. However, the whole experience was completely ruined when a large party of men were seated at a table behind us. I have never heard anything so loud in a restaurant. They had obviously already been drinking and I am not exaggerating in saying that they were literally shouting. I couldn't hear a word that any of my family were saying. We weren't alone in struggling because another table nearby commented to us on their way out. Do you really have to put up with this kind of disruption when you spend over £300? I certainly won't risk it again.
