Queijaria Furnense

I have been to this place a few times now. It has always been a pleasure and the food is just amazing. Their garlic bread is one of the best I have ever had. While I haven't been to many places here, this meat is certainly the best I've had on this island. Very tender, juicy and delicious on its own with nothing more than some salt. The olive oil and garlic sauce is just an extra that makes it even better. The pizza was their carne. Not an easy finish for a single person. It must have weighed 0.6 Kg or more. Definitely the best pizza I've had here. The crust is large as it has cheese in it. The dough is so fresh and fluffy as well. The service was excellent and on a Sunday around 2, almost no wait time to get it. You also have to try their deserts and take a small cheese wheel. They are known for their cheese flavoured deserts and treats and the are definitely something else. So amazing you'll want to try them all.

Good food and service, the restaurant is not cheap but from my opinion, it's worth it. Good cheese plates, great garlic/cheese bread and the meat plate was awesome (recommend to calculate no more than 200gr of meat on per person. We can into Furnas on a very rainy night. there weren't many patrons that night. The beef here was fabulous, cooked perfectly, our service was great, an overall pleasant experience. we'll be coming back, preferably without the torrential rain.

Im not a big fan of meat, but if I want to enjoy something good, then for sure something like in this restaurant. I had excellent Angus steak, very tasty and perfectly done. With the steak I had pineapple rice – and it was actually a very good match. Tasty and interesting! Staff was friendly, the place is clean and nice inside. Desserts – wow, they have really big choice! It is very possible I will come back again during this trip. 😊

We came here specifically for the plates that had raving reviews. We ordered the simple cheese plate, the garlic bread and the passion fruit pie. They did not disappoint! Garlic bread is absolutely delicious. When asked if we wanted 1 or half we made the mistake of ordering the full one and it is HUGE! There are no reservations but at 7pm we only had to wait around 10 minutes for a table. Servers were incredibly slow and never looked up when passing by. We ended up standing up ourselves to get the pie upfront. Expect extra slow service.

Maybe it was an off day, but this afternoon my hamburger was prepared with a very small piece of brown and wilted lettuce (see photo) on top. The chicken drumsticks for 8 Euros were very dry and small. I also tried a roast beef sandwich with cheese and the small amount of meat was dry, chewy and stringy and it was served in a huge bun with a very thin slice of cheese. It came out so fast from the kitchen that it might have been microwaved. I could hardly eat it. It was unacceptable . I brought the roast beef sandwich home. I’d only taken one bite. See the photo below. The fries were fine, and the white wine was excellent. The restaurant started to get crowded, so it may have been a bit overwhelming for the servers and the chef. The servers were all very gracious and friendly. Last time we ordered the salad with fresh cheese along with burgers. The salad was very good. This was less than a week ago. Other guests seemed to be enjoying what they ordered. I left feeling underwhelmed. We like this restaurant and hope that this was just a bad day for several items on the menu. Maybe the roast beef sandwich could be served with a side of au jus upon request. Sadly we leave tomorrow, so we won’t get a third chance to leave with a better impression of the restaurant. I wasn’t feeling up to complaining about the quality of the food, but the servers would have noticed that I’d left half my burger and almost all of my roast beef sandwich uneaten. I’d only ordered the beef sandwich hoping that it would be better than the burger.

The garlic bread is really good! The steak is very flavorful. The place is very nice with lots of windows looking out. The passion fruit cheesecake was good also.

This place had high ratings but it’s no better than bad fast food, and we were starving! You’d think anything would taste good if you’re that hungry. The garlic cheese bread was actually worth ordering but that was the only thing. The angus sandwich was a 1/5, the pizzas were just bad. The cheese sauce on the 3 cheese pizza tasted like plastic. The salads had no dressings or variation in toppings between the different ones you can choose from. We ordered fries and never got them, and when we asked where they were, they said the kitchen was closed and we wouldn’t be getting them. Chocolate tarts tasted like chocolate pudding from a box. There were no other options around so this was the place we ate, with such high reviews we went in with higher expectations.
