Quesos Canaan

Amazing! Such warm and welcoming family! Absolutely the best cheeses I have ever had in my life! Real butter, local honey, ghee, and more, I'm sure. Their garden of orchids and other flowers is stunning. ❤️

My roomie who lives just up the road a couple houses from this wonderful place!! His cheeses’ are the best. His butter and cream are beyond words. Definitely worth every mile or every colones you spend. Worth the drive from Rivas or even San Jirardo! Heck I’d drive there from San Jose for his spicy chili lime cheese!! Get some fresh baked bread, salami and jamon… some tomatoes and head up to Chirripo at the top of the hill. A good bottle of wine or some good Bavaria beer… a picnic made in heaven!!

Absolutely great experience when we got the opportunity to help them with milking the cows and producing the cheese. Wonderful and welcoming family, with a lot of knowledge about the entire process. We highly recommend tasting a few, and ask them about anything! And the cheese is so much better then you would find in the stores!

Good local cheese is hard to find in Costa Rica. This family run company is a true gem. Tours available on request.

The cow’s milk and berry yogurt is so good! So fresh and a great taste! Not to mention, the price is reasonable.

Delicious cheeses and nicely laid out selection of cheese. We were warmly greeted and given a short informative presentation on the history of Canaan Queso and what they make. They explained how they got into making Swiss style cheese. Also offered coffee from a friends coffee plantation. Don’t miss this place when in Rivas!

If you're in the area, this is a MUST SEE stop-in! It's a small shop, but the cheese selection and flavor is delicious! Be sure to ask to hear the story of how they learned to make cheese in the first place!!
