Where to Stay in Melbourne During Your Visit (Updated 2025)

"For families I recommend Quest St. Kilda Bayside because its 56 suites include kitchens, washing machines, and multiple bedrooms, and it's within walking distance of St. Kilda attractions including Luna Park." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Melbourne

"Just minutes from St. Kilda Beach, this four-star apartment hotel has a modern, minimalist design and a relaxed, home-like atmosphere that’s ideal for longer stays. Amenities include a small outdoor pool, BBQ facilities, a gym, and secure on-site parking; there’s no on-site restaurant but each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen and there are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. The spacious apartments offer separate living and dining areas, full kitchens with stove, microwave, mini-fridge, toaster, and tea/coffee maker, plus a washer/dryer and smart TVs; bathrooms are clean with walk-in showers that have excellent water pressure and nice complimentary toiletries. Overall, I find these apartments provide the essential amenities and space for a comfortable stay near the beach." - Matthew Kepnes

I always love staying at Quest Bayside and have returned many times. As a support worker, I often bring clients when we have events or appointments in Melbourne, and the experience is always positive. I usually request Room A17 as it is spacious, extremely comfortable, and feels like a home away from home. The staff are consistently welcoming, friendly, and professional, which makes every stay even more enjoyable. I’ve never had a single complaint and would happily recommend Quest Bayside to anyone looking for comfort, reliability, and great service.

Great Location, but Apartment Could Use an Update||The property is in a fantastic location—very quiet and an easy walk to St Kilda, which was a big plus. However, the two-bed studio felt more like a one-bedroom apartment. Some aspects of the space are looking a bit tired. The toilet was old and didn’t turn off properly, and the shower was quite noisy. That said, I would consider staying again, but I’d definitely opt for a larger apartment next time.

As always amazing experience with Quest Bayside during our stay. Staff as always so accommodating and friendly to our requests. Our rooms always serviced and cleaned to perfection while we are out. Car is always securely parked in the premises. Just like before will be back again. Thank you :)

A little pokey (toilet & shower especially tight), pretty dated furnishings and fit out, but clean and decent location in StKilda. Probably not value for money if I wasn't getting a cashback deal through the booking site. After staying, realised there were better options at the price point.

Very dissapointing for a Quest property. The lift feels unsafe , the bathrooms look like the 1980s and the furniture looks and feels like it was purchased on Gumtree. then theres the fact they slyly added $50 for parking onto my card without telling me. When we questioned it , the staff member was rude and condescending. Last time we go back to a Quest apartment

I’m really disappointed with the Quest Bayside, having stayed at a few Quest aparthotels in Australia, this is the worst. The reception left today at 8pm, when I arrived they said reception closes at 10pm. The apartment has two rooms, the aircon/heating unit is in the sitting room. I had to go to sleep with my jumper on last night as the bedroom was cold and didn’t heat up for hours (and I’m from UK and used to the cold). This evening when I got back from dinner at 8.15, the aircon controls are not working, so I cant get any heating on at all. I have tried to call the number on the board downstairs, but haven’t been able to get through, so it looks like I’m in for a cold night! Location is great, but the rooms and hallway are tired. My dryer doesn’t work at all. The safe locked my stuff in it and it took almost 40 minutes for someone to come and help.
