The Best Things to Do With Kids in Australia — From a Safari Sleepover to a Waterfront Theme Park

"No trip to Australia is complete without a visit to the awe-inspiring Great Barrier Reef. And while there are numerous ways to see the colorful coral, one of the best options for kids is from an activity platform. Hop aboard Quicksilver Cruises and travel to the Agincourt Reefs where kids will be able to snorkel (there's small snorkels and masks for toddlers) from a submerged platform that helps them get into the water. If your child can't swim — or has had enough — there's an underwater observatory where they can watch the fish without needing to get in the water. The company also has a submarine that ventures out to the reef's lagoons for extra viewing opportunities." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Really awesome experience. The crew has been amazingly friendly and helpful with all the different activities. The pontoon and the ship facilities were very well equipped for many people and the lunch buffet was pretty good. The underwater submersible and the fish feeding session was really a great experience. I Definitely recommend Quicksilver!

We went on an outer reef cruise when we were in Cairns and we also booked quicksilver during our stay in Port Douglas. I totally rate Quicksilver as the better option if you need to choose only one. The Cairns tour had far too many people onboard and felt very disorganized. No extra charge for prescription snorkeling gears, and better food options onboard at the pontoon. Also the reef snorkeling area is bigger. The pontoon area felt very well maintained/designed and are sheltered.

OMG! This whole day on 06/01 was amazing and entirely a credit to the staff. The bus from Palm Cove was on time and the driver was happy and Freire fly and used the microphone to show us major sites and photo opps along the way. Huge boat left promptly when we arrived and our pre booked snorkel tickets were ready and we were able to meet Dr Glen the marine biologist straight away- who gave us great advice about lunch too. Noelle the other MB have a great, fun and informative talk too, as did the lifeguard! Everything well organised on the pontoon. Staff saved our lunch for us and put it on boat as we were busy. Long submersible tour. Then the best guided snorkel with dr Glenn seeing 3 giant clams, two turtles and a million fish even though conditions were rough. Great photos taken, well rehearsed crew with a false Alarm on the way back due to heavy seas. Dr Glen sat and had a quick chat with use again, and all the staff including Noelle and Dr Glen waved us goodbye Dream day. Perfect! Thankyou so much! Highly reccomended

WOW WOW WOW. We weren’t sure what reef trip to take in Port Douglas. We ruled out the boats that went to the platforms as we didn’t bring our children and we loved the idea of visiting three reef sites. Well I can tell you this trip was phenomenal!!! The crew were just so lovely, boat was really comfortable, food on tap all day and as for the snorkling sites, they were amazing. Doing all three in one day felt you had time to enjoy the snorkling, have a rest and by the time you got to the next beautiful spot you had the energy to go again. We decided to do the scuba diving on board. Well to say it blew my mind is an understand. Kaitlin was the kindest soul who gave me the courage at 59 to have the best day of my life. She’s a definite keeper! Very informative and safety conscious we were allowed to see the reef like a pro. I cannot thank them enough. The supervisor of the boat was friendly and kept a tight ship with humour, kindliness and always a cheery smile. THANKS EVERYONE! 😍

Very well appointed and very large vessel (boat). The staff know what they are doing and with the kids who weren’t feeling well they took special care of them. The lunch was amazing!!! They have a post box on the reef to send card back home! I need to make a special mention on all the staff types and positions. They are very well staffed. I’ve been on other snorkeling trips and they had minimal interaction with clients etc. This crew went out of their way to interact with everyone. Ask about us. Help us. And make us the best trip ever. The marine Biologist info session made a big impact on us and helped make the time go by. The reef barge setup is top notch and even seen some limited mobility individuals have the time of their lives! Last but not least… I choose this company because they had good reviews. But I need to add to the others… this boat makes the travel easy and comfortable. Don’t get me wrong. Take some stomach sickness assistant pills. On our way back we past multiple other charter reef boats. Leaving them behind!

We had a great time doing some more discovery dives with Quicksilver diving/cruises. Joe was our guide and instructor and he was super chill and professional, but at the same time clearly on the ball and safety first the whole time. The whole day was really well organised. The whole crew from the captain to Teddy, the instructors, girls working in the dining area and the lifeguards were top notch. Highly recommend this company if you are beginner or experienced divers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Outer Reef experience with Quicksilver Cruises We joined the Quicksilver Silver Outer Reef trip on 11 December as a group of 10, coming from a cruise ship, and the experience was outstanding. Before booking, we had many questions because we chose to book directly through Quicksilver’s website instead of via the cruise to save costs. Unfortunately, we received some misleading information from cruise staff, but the Quicksilver team was incredibly patient, honest, and professional, answering every question clearly and making us feel completely reassured. On the day, everything ran smoothly. The staff were friendly and well organised, with Chinese-speaking crew available, which was a big help. The vessel was large and spacious, with plenty of staff on board. A marine biologist’s presentation during the trip was informative and very professional. The lunch was excellent – fresh, generous, and a true buffet with a great variety of hot and cold food. The reef sites were impressive, with large, colourful coral areas, and despite many guests, everything was very well managed. We also saw lifeguards responding quickly to guests who needed help, which showed a high level of care and safety. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. We would definitely choose Quicksilver again for any future Outer Reef trips and highly recommend them.

Incredible company! We did the Agincourt Reefs dives and had an unreal experience - we saw cuttlefish, hundreds of fish, the largest coral reefs I’ve ever seen, a shark, and more. Definitely recommend. Maddy Cole, our diving guide was phenomenal. She not only showed us all around the best parts but even took great photos/videos on my GoPro when I asked her to. She was super fun and really nice

Yelp
I had a great time on the Quicksliver "Supersonic" tour. They brought us to 3 different reef sights. The staff was pretty knowledgeable (Ask for Robbie) The boat was a good size and the food was surprisingly edible. The boat was much smaller than the single sight tour but the crew made up for it in enthusiasm and service. I would definitely recommend the supersonic over their other tours if you're ONLY SNORKELING. I guess 3-4 hrs at one sight could be a little boring if you're SNORKELING but if you're a scuba diver the other single sight tour could be a better match for you. The staff was very good about finding the people who were getting seasick and helping them feel more comfortable. (Dramamine and ice chips) Bring a jacket or sweater if the weather is under 21* Celsius, because it was pretty cold when going 20knots on the water. But don't take my word for it! Try it out!
