Quicksilver Dive Is the First Accessible Dive Center on the Great Barrier Reef

"Certified in May 2023 as the first PADI Adaptive Service Facility in Queensland and one of only four in Australia, this Port Douglas dive operator is the only adaptive-accredited facility located on the world's largest reef system. The center was intentionally built for accessibility, with ramps, an elevator and a training pool that meet PADI Adaptive Service Facility requirements, and its instructors are trained to apply adaptive teaching techniques that focus on diver abilities to make scuba accessible to people with varying needs. Staff emphasize inclusivity while noting that age and medical conditions still apply, and the program aligns with broader efforts to use diving as a therapeutic and rehabilitative activity." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. What a great day we had today, diving the Great Barrier Reef with Quicksilver Dive from the boat Silversonic. Everything proceeded very smoothly and the whole trip was professionally managed. Dive sites were awesome, equipment was well taken care of and the lunch was amazing. There were even several vegetarian options to choose from!! Especially a big compliment to Kit who is the dive instructor I dived with. She is the best!! Thanks a lot, Kit and all other staff, for the amazing day! 🫧🤿🦈🐠

Snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef is a must do. Quicksilver pontoon boat tour to Agincourt was a highlight in our Port Douglas trip. They have thought of everything included in the tour for a comfortable and rememberable experience to make the day enjoyable. It is an all inclusive with snorkel gear, stinger suits, buffet lunch (so much food and a good variety), tea, coffee and biscuits and afternoon tea, semi submersible (good way to see underwater without snorkelling). There are add ons available to add to the day. We hired a GoPro that added to our experience and memories of our underwater adventure. You are given the SD card at the end of the day. The day starts at 9.30am to 4.30pm, set for the day. It takes 1.5hrs to get to Agin court and time goes quickly as they use the time to educate patrons with their onboard marine biologist to prep us with expectations on the reef and have lifeguards that prep you on safety and precaution as they are monitoring the water when we are snorkelling out on the reef. The reef was mapped out so there is no way you were getting lost, and thought out with rest areas to come up for air to plan the next direction to explore. We were delighted to come across a few humpback whales which was spectacular on the way up. Staff and crew run like clockwork, efficient and reliable. There is always someone around who can assist with queries and they are very informative questions are answered regardless. There is so much activity happening on and around the pontoon it never felt like we had to wait or went without, it meant the crowds were well managed and staff are very helpful.

We had a great time doing some more discovery dives with Quicksilver diving/cruises. Joe was our guide and instructor and he was super chill and professional, but at the same time clearly on the ball and very safety conscious the whole time. The day was really well organised. The whole crew from the captain to Teddy, the instructors, girls working in the dining area and the lifeguards were top notch. The food was buffet style and was tasty. They catered to most dietary needs. The equipment was good quality for the diving too. The only point for improvement was we thought the extra charging for photos was a bit much. It would be very nice if it was all included in the cost so you get your cert and photo at the end. The photo guy is just printing money there and just airdrops you one file. If you want another or a few photos, you need to pay even more. However, overall I recommend this company if you are beginner or experienced divers.

My friends and I recently had the pleasure of diving with Quicksilver Dive Center, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Their boat was excellent and took us an hour and half away from Port Douglas marina to the continental shelf with incredible reefs. Our guides, Jade and India, were absolutely fantastic—attentive, caring, and incredibly knowledgeable on marine life. They made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe throughout the dives, and they ensured we all were very well looked after. The service onboard was first-class as well. The captain and crew were friendly and professional, and the food provided was delicious and plentiful. The boat itself was top-notch, with high safety standards and excellent equipment, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. I can't recommend Quicksilver Dive Center enough!

We had a great time diving and snorkeling on the silver sonic! We did the intro/non certified dive. For that, a guide will literally hold your hand the whole time you dive and monitor your buoyancy/oxygen so you are along for the ride sight gazing. It doesn’t offer you a lot of freedom while diving, but you are safe and able to do an activity you’re not certified for! Snorkeling was just as good if not better than the dive. The reefs are close to the surface so you are not missing out at all if you just go with snorkeling. There are 3 stops and we did dive, snorkel, dive. Overall the ship and crew were well organized and managed all the different groups (cert dives, snorkels, etc) well. The lunch on board was not bad nothing special. We also got hot tea and coffee and snacks which hit home after the cold water!

I rushed in to get some gear when I first arrived in Port & met the cool as a cucumber Chris. He helped ensure I got what I needed & bounced out with my quality fins & the important socks for my snorkel adventures. I also booked & did a beginners recreational dive with Daan a few weeks ago & it was fantastic! Daan was professional & informative & ensured we were all okay before taking us newbies down to the beautiful enchanted world that is the Great Barrier Reef! Daan was amazing to hold hands with & really kept me calm, I knew I was in good hands! The vibrance he exuded & encouraging words helped me go on & complete a certified open water dive certificate! Simone at the desk helped me navigate the online course work & on the first day I met my beautiful instructor Emma! She was thorough & made sure I was feeling good during all our skills check. Any trepidations I had, Emma took the time to explain & we practiced! Emma let me trial a few dive masks during the day as I was looking for a better mask. We settled on one that I am so happy with! By day 2 in the open water, I felt more at eased bc Emma had me so prepared in the pool & we re did all the skills required but I did it with more confidence so we smashed through all the skills check. Day 3 I felt like everything was natural (setting up from scratch, the checks & dive plan) & I was certified!! We celebrated with 2 fun dives as a certified diver! With the GoPro on hand we got to enjoy the beauty & know that I got certified in the world’s biggest beauty that mother nature created, the Great Barrier Reef!! I cannot wait to head out on more dive adventures & see Emma & Daan & wave to them!! My biggest thanks goes to Emma! I couldn’t ask for a better instructor! Emma really made it feel easy & was so thorough that I know I had the best training & preparation for my PADI certificate!

Went diving on the SilverSonic last week and had a wonderful experience. It was the first time my group went on a dive trip on a larger boat (90 passengers). Even though there were a lot of divers, they split us into smaller groups so it was still personal. We found it very well organized. Emma was our dive master and was wonderful. She kept the group together, was helpful, informative, cheerful, and overall just really helped make our experience special. Definitely a pro. We saw some nice coral and fish during the dive. Emma pointed out cool creatures along the way and made sure everyone was comfortable and safe. Outside of the nice dive, the food (lunch and teas)was pretty decent and well balanced, and we appreciated the little sandwiches after our first dive. Was easy to refill up on water, and they also had soft drinks or beer (after diving!) for purchase. Highly recommend!

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with this company today!!! I did 3 dives on the Poseidon day cruise. It was my first time diving since getting my open water certification only 3 weeks ago, so I was a bit nervous. My divemaster Alex was incredibly kind, patient, knowledgeable, and made the experience so fun and comfortable!!! I got lucky that there were only 3 other certified divers there, so my group was very small and personal. The rest of the crew was lovely as well. On the boat ride out, I actually got extremely sea sick to the point of throwing up. Alex and the rest of the crew was insanely attentive, kind, understanding, and helpful. I felt a bit embarrassed and they did not make me feel bad at all. Overall, 11/10 experience thanks to the amazing crew!!!
