A recent visit to a Casa Cimeira winery guest house in Douro Valley turned into a truly memorable experience, thanks to the exceptional professionalism and warmth of the hosts. Although there was a small hiccup with the initial reservation, the staff handled it gracefully—showcasing their dedication to hospitality and guest satisfaction Hospitality and Professionalism From the moment of arrival, the hosts were welcoming and ensured that any reservation concerns were quickly resolved, making us feel immediately at ease. Their approach set the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable stay Culinary Delight: Dinner and Wine Tasting The evening featured a superb dinner with a full wine tasting, pairing Casa Cimeira wines with each course. The meal was outstanding, delicious fish dish and a perfect steak. Each wine complemented the flavors beautifully, underlining the hosts’ deep connection with the local terroir. Memorable Dessert The highlight of the meal was the orange rolad dessert—a wonderfully light and flavorful finish that left a lasting impression. Combined with warm conversation and a convivial communal dining experience, this dessert perfectly encapsulated the sweetness of Douro hospitality. Overall Experience Despite the initial mix-up, the commitment to authentic, home-cooked meals, outstanding local wines, and genuine guest care made Casa Cimeira guest house a standout in the Douro region. The memory of the evening, from the fine wines to the heartfelt service, truly reflects the spirit and generosity of Douro Valley hospitality

Broken promises... Our second stay at Casa Cimeira, but we'll never stay there again. We opted to return to the Douro region this fall to see the olive harvest. Several months in advance, I contacted Paolo, who owns Casa Cimeira with his brother Miguel, and asked if they could help us arrange a visit to watch the olive harvest. He assured me that he would arrange this, either at his own property or with others nearby. A few weeks before our visit, I contacted Paolo again to confirm, and he reassured me that we were all set. As we drove to Casa Cimeira from Porto, I messaged Paolo to confirm a time and place we could meet that afternoon. He was not there when we arrived. He then said his brother Miguel couldn't meet that day after all but would accompany us in the morning to the olive harvest. When neither Paolo nor Miguel appeared in the morning, Paolo then said Miguel would meet with us after lunch. We waited for 2 hours for Miguel, trying to reach him by message and phone, but he did not answer. Paolo did not respond either. By about 3pm, we finally reached Paolo and told him we had been waiting for his brother for hours; he said he would contact him. More time passed without hearing from either. I finally reached Paolo and he said that they would not take us to an olive harvest after all. What a disappointment after a string of broken promises. If they couldn't help us arrange to see the olive harvest, Paolo should have told me that when I first asked him, when making a reservation. But apparently he didn't want to lose our business of a several night stay, so he strung us on with a series of broken promises. Casa Cimeira itself seems to have deteriorated since we were there 7 months ago -- staff seemed uninterested in guests, our room had a sewer smell, and neither brother ever appeared to greet guests, unlike before. We won't return.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful family-run guesthome for 2 nights and was one of the hilights of our trip! The host and family are the sweetest people that make you feel apart of their family. The grounds, pool, rooms, and dining room are pristine. Communal homemade breakfast and dinners were DELICIOUS and fresh from their gardens. We met so many great people from around the world and had excellent conversation. The wines they produce are also fantastic. What a unique and special stay. We would love to return ASAP!

Quinta Casa do Cimeira, Valenca do Douro, Portugal||This is a plain, rustic B&B in a vineyard. Don’t expect an in room refrigerator or anything more sophisticated than the TV. The furniture is all antique. However, the B&B is charming and very peaceful. Miguel and his family are very friendly and accomodating; even cooking a one off lamb chops dinner when I was not enthusiastic about the fish dinner he was going to serve. Miguel said treat the B&B as home and he meant it. Dinner cooked by Miguel and his mother and including fresh produce from the kitchen garden, is not to be missed. Starting with a pre dinner cocktail, three tasty courses with any wine of your choice and plenty of it. After dinner port with as many refills required is the reason to visit the Douro valley and this B&B in particular. ||Highly recommended. ||PS if driving ignore GPS follow the signs on arrival and do not turn left out of car park, this avoids a VERY narrow street in the village that you really do not want to experience.||John and Janet Smith July 2025

The most incredible views from the rooms, the place also has some real character to it. The dinner service was fantastic and couldn't recommend doing it enough. The views from the pool are also fantastic nestled in the vines on a lovely sloping hill. Very welcoming staff and hosts.

When you are in this area, you must stay here! Location is good, the room is great and breakfast and dinner are perfect. Love the wine! Nothing better than meeting new people over a nice dinner with some good wine.

We fell completely in love with this fabulous location, we had an amazing stay in this beautiful house vineyard, owned and run by Miguel and his family. Miguel was an amazing host, chef, port and winemaker, is there no end to his talents?||We only stayed one night, and shortly after arriving regretted that we hadn't booked longer.||Miguel catered for all the guests (15 of us in total) around one big communal table for dinner, with an amazing home cooked, traditional Portuguese feast. He supplied all the port and wine, all grown and produced by him and his family...and it was superb. ||The room we had, was spotless, characterful, really comfortable and utterly delightful. The breakfast, was included in the cost and was great...we were so very sad to leave. ||We would 100% recommend this vineyard stay to anyone wanting to explore the Douro Valley, and anyone who enjoys meeting and socialising with people from around the world (the night we stayed we had 7 nationalities around the table...it was glorious) or for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in home comforts, with a lovely family in the most peaceful and stunning locations.
