Quinta da Pintassilga

We stayed at this incredible Quinta and honestly, it felt like being inside a spread from Architectural Digest. The setting is pure tranquility surrounded by thousands of citrus trees and massive old olive trees. It’s completely quiet too, we took naps outside in the afternoon and slept perfectly at night. The house we rented was spacious, beautifully designed, and perfectly equipped, with thoughtful Portuguese touches like handmade soaps, a bowl of fruit from the orchard, and local pâtés to try. Everything felt intentional and elegant, but not fussy — true effortless, understated luxury. The hosts were so kind and accommodating, and you could find them easily if needed but they also keep to themselves. It’s only a five minute drive from the center of Tavira but it feels like you’re deep in the countryside. Absolutely delightful all around — we loved our time here and would recommend it to anyone looking for peace, beauty, and a truly memorable place to stay.

Stayed here recently with family. Rita and Guilherme are great hosts, upon arrival they make you feel at home and explain everything well, but at the same time, you hardy see them after that. You come and go as you like with a fob for the gates. Accommodation for us was perfect, modern with tasteful hints of rustic past. They really have done the accommodation well. The pool is great, guests are requested to use the pool and then use your personal sun loungers etc…at your accommodation which we found works well and affords some privacy for all. Everything you need for self catering is provided, 2 supermarkets are 5 minutes away by car. Great location for various beaches and Tavira town. You see the occasional tractor on site but that adds to the experience that you are staying amongst generations of Orange and Lemon growers. It is so peaceful yet within easy reach of everything. Some local bread, local olive oil and organic olive oil soap (what a great smell) was provided. Beds were super comfortable. Eating out doesn’t reflect on Quinta da Pintassliga in any way, but having returned to Tavira after a few years, we noticed how ‘some’ of the restaurants and certain dishes in Tavira are changing from good honest Portuguese fair / rustic dishes, to meat and a bit of salad, so choose your restaurants and dishes carefully. A couple of dishes at different restaurants we’ve used in the past disappointed and certainly didn’t reflect value for money as is normally the case. Quinta da Pintassilga was perfect for us and we would not hesitate in returning or recommending. Transport is required.

This is our second time staying with Rita and Guilherme. They are fantastic hosts. The apartments are perfectly furnished. Nothing is missing. The outdoor area is fantastic. We would highly recommend it. Thank you very much. See you next time. Susan and Guido

Amazing stay. The location gives seclusion and much needed peace. The pool was gorgeous and clean. Perfect after a day at the beach to chill. The surrounding beaches were stunning. The owners couldn’t be more helpful, responding to any queries quickly. We especially the bed they put together for our daughter it was absolutely perfect! Do not stay here and not freshly squeeze your oranges from the estate for breakfast. Very special stay. Just book it!

Charlie and I had a wonderful stay at Quinta da Pintassilga! We delighted in the serenity of the orchards and surrounding gardens. The beautiful decor and architecture is a harmony of art and function, old and new. I especially appreciated the kitchen that had everything I needed and more. We had some lovely moments here and really enjoyed our stay. Guilherme and his team are excellent and the accommodation here has to be seen to be believed. It’s an impossibly pretty place. Go and pick up some oranges and put them in the juicer.

We had an amazing stay here this year. Its like staying in a private oasis with hundreds of fruit trees, orchards of oranges and surrounded by the sound of nothing except birds and nature. Very close to the city and the beaches nearby. The owners really made us feel welcome and the house was not only beautifully decorated - but also had everything we needed to cook and keep cool with air conditioning and new appliances. The swimming pool was a welcome feature too. We were given tips by Guilherme the owner of were to buy seafood and the best places to eat out. Highly recommended and we hope to return again very soon.

The perfect base! A beautifully and tastefully renovated country house amidst orange trees, divided into three spacious units and the owners' home. Lovely beds, spacious bathrooms and showers, a huge roof terrace (just need to put a bigger table there ;) and terrace at the kitchen and large living room and a shared swimming pool for a dip at sunset. The extra touch such as a basket of fresh oranges to squeeze is lovingly refilled from the orchard. The property is also well situated. Quiet in the back and amidst the fields but close to all main access routes. Close to the beaches of Tavira, Cabanas, Cacela, Barril, Fuzeta... but also close to the supermarkets (Pingo Doce, Lidl,...). Don’t forget to try the Octopus in Santa Luiza only 6 km from the property. It swims right into your plate there! Guilherme and Rita are your perfect and discrete hosts. A job well done!
