Quinta do Vallado

Honestly we can't comment on the accomodations. We dropped in while driving through this area. We arrived while a group of ladies were doing a tasting. We didn't have a booking and the host was busy with the group. No problem as we understand the booking procedure. We browsed the wine selection and found 2 vintages (1 lower priced, the other mid range). Prices average for this area so we purchased them. We're enjoying the less expensive one this evening and it is quite plesant. The other bottle will be delegated to the cellar to grow older gracefully (OK maybe 1-2 more years) before being paired with something complimentary. Staff were friendly but busy. Location is out of the way but that is sometimes good.

It was a very nice facility, the hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our guide, Flavia, was knowledgeable and informative. She made us all feel welcome and comfortable throughout the tour and wine tasting. She also put up with my sense of humor and played along with me. I received an extra splash of wine for my friendliness. We enjoyed the wine and port and purchased a few bottles. One of the wineries that we visited over three days in the valley.

An amazing experience, truly worth it! Inês gave an incredible tour, and Flávia was the kindest wine seller. Both made our visit really special.

Quinta do Vallado is one of the larger, more well-known producers in the Douro, and that scale definitely shows in the experience. The facilities are beautiful, modern, and impressive, but the visit felt more scripted and commercial than some of the smaller family-run quintas we toured. It took about an hour of touring before we finally got to the tasting. We opted for the most comprehensive tasting option. At one point, the guide presented a vial of 1880 vintage port, passing it around and hinting that we might get to try it. Spirits lifted — until she revealed it was 200 euros for a sample. A similar thing happened later with one of their reserve wines, a fascinating blend of 32 grape varieties. The bottle made it to our table but was never opened, which made it feel more like a sales pitch than a genuine tasting. While the wines themselves are excellent and the property is stunning, the overall experience lacked the personal warmth and authenticity of the smaller estates. Worth visiting for the history and architecture — but if you’re looking for a more intimate or educational experience, try one of the boutique quintas nearby instead.

My wife and I had the most wonderful 3 days here as one of our honeymoon stops. The food, wine, and service was absolutely top tier. The staff was so friendly and accommodating the entire time. Just such a memorable experience. Next time we come back to PT, it will absolutely be one of our stops.

The tour is worth it! You get to know more about he history of the vineyard and Douro, you see the facilities and get a Virtual Reality experience to see the vindimas if you are out of the season. Wine tasting was great, and the guide was really good, real nice and ready to answer any questions.

Quinta do Vallado was an absolutely wonderful place to stay! The hotel is the definition of 5-star comfort, luxury, dining, and classic old-world relaxation. From the minute we arrived, they had a smooth check-in with excellent information. We stayed in the modern building in a superior room. The room was spacious with beautiful amenities and setup. There was everything we could need in the room. The common spaces of the hotel were beautifully decorated. Dinner was served with a fixed menu with 2-3 options, including a vegetarian option, at 7 pm or 9 pm. The wine from Quinta Do Vallado was beautifully paired with our meals, with the option of their premium or super premium wines. The quality of the wine with the food was impeccable and at a great value. The property was breathtaking and has a beautiful 300 + year history. The in-ground granite-lined pool is gorgeously set in a grove of orange trees, which is incredibly picturesque. The staff was incredibly helpful in organizing things as well as transportation, and the complimentary tour of the winery was also incredibly educational. Quinta do Vallado is a breathtaking property that is a perfect escape from the outside busy world.

Our stay at Quinta do Vallado was the highlight of our trip to Portugal.||It's a lovely place, in the heart of the Douro Valley, to spend some time.||Friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are passionate about wine add to the overall quality of the experience, immersing you in the story and history of QDV.||We dined at the hotel for breakfast and dinner. Both excellent. The dinner with wine pairing was a lovely experience and again added to the richness of the experience. The teams eagerness and love for their product shone through. The wines really are super and the ports are excellent.||Of the offered activities, we did the wine tour and tasting, used the e-bikes to explore the local area and even got in a decent hike to the top of the estate. In short we had plenty to do, if you throw in some pool time too, during our two day stay.||We stayed in the Eira Suites, which are at the top end of the estate, which were small, but perfectly functional and the 'lounge' with honour bar, gave us space to relax. While Eira is a bit more of a walk (from the main restaurant), it does have lovely views of the estate. ||I would go back to QDV in a heartbeat.

Quinta do Vallado in the Douro Valley is a gem if you're into good wine and beautiful views. I stopped by for a wine tasting and tour during my Porto trip, and it was such a chill experience. The setting? Totally stunning--vineyards everywhere, classic Douro vibes. The tour was laid-back but informative, and the tasting was a real treat. The red Ports stood out--rich and bold. If you find yourself in the Douro Valley, this Quinta is definitely worth a visit for the wine and the views alone.

Me and my wife came here for a couple night and we must say we were both in shock. Of how beautiful and relaxing this vineyard was. We had no idea this GEM of a place existed. From service to accommodation and food and we can't forget about their wine 5 stars. We definitely recommend this Quinta. There pool is amazing with views of the mountains. It's like a dream. Rooms are clean and very up to date. We got massages at the spa and Rita was excellent and ze who checked us in is great! We didn't want to leave haha.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Quinta do Vallado. Such a gorgeous spot in the Douro Valley...peaceful, extremely comfortable and sprawling accommodations, warm staff, stunning grounds. It even smells heavenly with the orange blossoms and rosemary all around the property. Had dinner both nights at the hotel as it was delicious, affordable for the area (which generally has considerably more expensive restaurants) and easy. Kids enjoyed the bar menu to have an earlier night of it (plenty of options for lighter dinners in the bar if you don't wish to eat heavy or late) and we loved our premium wine pairings with dinner. They also have an honor bar with all of their fabulous wines and some spirits for mixing, which was a nice touch. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Wish it would start a little earlier (7? 730? would be great, but I believe it started at 8) but other than that, zero complaints. Our stay included a tour and tasting, which was truly educational for all. Our guide was the sommelier of the hotel and she also poured the wines at dinner. Our stay at the Quinta was a true highlight of our trip. I highly recommend it.

It's so true early bird catches the worm. We were too slow in finalizing our plans, so we didn't get to stay in Vallado. A major disappointment as the price was really reasonable and definitely a similar place in other wine countries around the world will cost considerably more. Missing out on the stay, we still decide to visit and join in for the wine tour. Pro tip: if you are taking a taxi, be sure to let them know whether you are staying at the quinta or joining the wine tour, unless you enjoy a long walk. They have tours in English and Portuguese, be sure to check when each tour is. Staff is very friendly and professional, and at the end we enjoy some wine tasting along a long table, which facilitates conversations among the visitors.

This is one of those places that you almost feel like you should keep secret it's so good. But hey - trying to expand the Yelp map in Portugal so here it goes: Vallado was a vacation away from our vacation. Super relaxing, reasonably priced, and it really doesn't get more picturesque than the Duoro Valley in the summertime. We could have staid here forever. We had dinner here on both nights of our stay (the nearest town, Regua, doesn't have much of a dining scene to speak of so you're better off staying here...plus you don't want to be driving on these roads after a bottle of wine) and the food was very tasty... for the most part made fresh from ingredients in their garden. The staff was super friendly but the service was slightly amiss in some aspects.... but almost in a charming sort of way that gives you the feel that this place isn't a big production and you are just staying with a big family. The wines were good but I preferred the port... they only make tawnys, and they do them well. We took home four bottles. Cant wait to drink them. All. Ok, OK, three were for gifts.

- TIP: This was the highlight of our trip to Portugal. Book ahead as their rooms were almost fully booked 4 months ahead of time. Also -- the old building had great patios on the ground level. - CON: Nothing. - BOTTOM LINE: One of my favorite meals ever was having dinner in their small dining room looking out to the Douro Valley. It was a simple, but well-executed traditional Portuguese meal. I love this place and hope to return one day.

This place is unforgettable. I was excited to stop here overnight (in the new building) during our weeklong trip in Portugal and it exceeded my expectations. Upon arrival, we were served with two glasses of port.... A great start already! We were then given a map to walk some of the grounds of the vineyard. We opted on the 'shorter' trail so we can enjoy the views and have our own photo shoot. At 5PM we returned for our complementary tour and tasting. It was interesting to hear and see the way that they produce wine. They're currently cranking out 850k bottles a year!! A medium operation we were told. At 8PM, we had dinner. The menu changes daily (as does the price) so be sure to make a reservation by mid afternoon. The food and wine pairings were phenomenal. I would recommend this place to every friend of mine! A great place to enjoy the outdoors, relax, and learn about wine.

This place is FANTASTIC. Extremely affordable five star accommodations. You could never find something like this for this price range in the US! I highly recommend going on the off-season because it's just as beautiful and even cheaper (I came with a friend and stayed in an amazing room for 140/night including breakfast and some other add-ons). Great wine and wine tour. Very helpful staff. Beautiful architecture - comparable to the Amangani in Jackson Hole but in the price range of a Holiday Inn for all those of you that understand these very-American references. We haven't had dinner yet but were so excited about how amazing this place was/is that we wanted to let the world know RIGHT NOW. Looking forward to more delicious food and port tomorrow, all in the incredible environs of Quinta do Vallado... never leaving. See you when you get here.

Had an unforgettable overnight here. Sumptuous grounds and accommodations. The pool is magical, as are the views. Service is less than smooth but eager to accommodate any request. Tour of the winery is perfunctory, but pleasant, and the wines (despite all the US press) are focused and well made, but not terribly exciting. Dinner in the dinning room was fantastic. Very difficult place to leave.
