What a lovely place with some of the best, friendliest staff we have ever met. Everyone was just so helpful. We arrived and I had booked for the wrong date. They were able to accommodate us and did so in such a kind way. We got two welcome drinks, and Charlie the bartender was wonderful. We reserved a taxi for 5am and we were given someone the staff knew. Such a great piece of mind. And at 4:45am some muffins and coffees were wating for us. The location is great, the price is good and the staff is outstanding. I highly recommend.

Darling boutique hotel perfectly located in Tlaquepaque, can walk to magical old churches, town center and so many amazing restaurants, bars and fabulous shopping. The staff truly made this a great experience. Estela at the front desk was sweet and accommodating, helping set up transportation when needed. The bartender poured a complimentary welcome cocktail, bar area includes a TV with live sports and seating poured out to my favorite part of the hotel - the pool deck and garden area. I can sit out there all day sipping fresh, spicy margaritas! We had the 2B pool suite with two levels, 2 bathrooms and a living room - even a hot tub. Nicely decorated Mexican style, comfy beds and very clean. I highly recommend this place.

After many, many years of staying at La Quinta, I am so pleased that they are still in operation. And that it is still an oasis in Tlaquepaque. Not only does it still possess a great ambience, but the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The menu, and the quality of their food is still excellent. But their prices continue to rise. We opted to eat out where our choices were more varied, and better priced. Otherwise, our stay for two nights were exceptional!

This is a hotel that has all parts working. Rooms are comfortable, kitchen provides delicious breakfast and dinners; staff is always at your service, friendly and fast — no request is too small. The property is very well kept up and updated. Best value!

Returned recently again (too many times to count) to Quinta Don Jose in Tlaquepaque. This is absolutely my favorite place to stay in the Guadalajara area. Everyone at the hotel is so very delightful. The restaurant and bar are wonderful too. Highly recommend staying here if you plan a trip to Tlaquepaque.

We have seldom been treated better than we were at Quinta Don Jose; and our Bonita room, directly across the street from the hotel lobby, was both pristine and comfortable. Although Quinta Don Jose's restaurant has to complete with the many wonderful dining options within el Centro, they succeeded. Our Sea Bass -- and my Skirt Steak-- were to die for. And look for Charlie if you want a wonderful pre-dinner cocktail in the intimate Quinta Don Jose bar.

This boutique hotel is great. The staff is amazing and helps by going above and beyond. No need to go out to eat the restaurant is the best in town. We ate out several times and commented that the food was better at the hotel. The location to Tlaquepaque is perfect, too.

Once again we are so grateful to Art, Estela and all the staff for making our stay a very pleasant experience. Your attention to detail not only to your guests but to every inch of your beautiful property is amazing. We hope to be back soon.

Yelp
Our stay here was last minute. Just walking distance from the city center and oh so clean. I would like to take a minute to acknowledge the staff and how friendly and helpful they truly are. I would definitely stay here again. Not because of the bed, the location or even the jacuzzi but for the wonderful staff. Thank you for all you do.

Yelp
Honestly this is my second time being here I tried to give it a second chance I waited 10 minutes just for them to bring us our drinks it was not packed at all just to get our food took an hour maybe a little longer we ordered a Cesar salad they brought us two full Romain lettuce with cheese on it that's not a salad at least cut the lettuce! It was disappointing I also ordered a chicken steak Alfredo pasta it was good but the night before they gave me a literal cereal bowl with same pasta and today they gave me a bigger portion that's more presentable and more portion than the other day, Also I was over hearing at one other table they were over charging them extra drinks and it was disappointing that they over charged them knowing they were not from here and kept telling them they didn't order it and kept bringing them the same check and try to act like they didn't see anything honestly wouldn't recommend unless you have 3 hours of free time .

Yelp
What a treasure! An acquaintance recommended this hotel for our short stay in Guadalajara, and we couldn't have been more delighted! The traditional Mexican decor and ambiance are gorgeous, and the staff could not have been more welcoming. At the bar (manned by Charley) you will find only the finest tequilas and other alcoholic beverages, and the in-house Italian restaurant has a great menu with wonderful, fun servers. Although you may never want to leave the hotel, it is located just a couple of blocks from the main square in Tlacquepacque where you will find shopping, restaurants, art/furniture galleries, and, of course, a cathedral. This place far surpassed our expectations, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Yelp
Excellent place, led by Estella. She was helpful to me in a number of ways.. The restaurant is superior. We had a number of dinners that were among the best meals we've ever had.. I recommend this place. It's filled when others are giving a hard sales pitch. No need for that here.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed for three nights and LOVED this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There's no elevator but they had an employee help us with our luggage. We stayed in room 6 and it was so cute! Loved the old school traditional Mexican decor. Very bed was very comfortable and the room had a view of the courtyard. The bathroom had a nice size tub/shower. *Note..No issues with the shower but after taking a bath you have to let the water drain out slowly otherwise it backs up and comes up through the drain in the floor. You end up with a flooded bathroom. We figured it out the second day. Breakfast, coffee & juice was included every morning and it was delicious! The ladies that prepared it were very nice. This hotel also has a restaurant we ate at several times. The food was great! They also have a nice little bar with a good tequila selection. We loved hearing the church bells from our room and being able to walk to the downtown was a bonus!! It was very safe, even at night. The front desk has umbrellas incase it rains. We can't wait to stay here again! Highly recommend.

Yelp
This hotel is perfect if you are in the Guadalajara area! The restaurant and bar are fabulous and the complimentary breakfast is delicious! We stayed in the poolside master suite and the room was huge and very clean. The property was safe and within walking distance to tons of shops, bars, and restaurants. All of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. I will definitely stay here again if I'm back down to Guadalajara!

Yelp
Such a beautiful hotel! Lots of traditional Mexican charm, beautiful artwork in every corner, and very kind & helpful staff. We arrived at the airport on a very late flight, but we had contacted the hotel earlier in the day and they offered to send a driver even though we didn't land until after midnight. We had a clean, comfortable ride and checked into our clean, comfortable room with no challenges. The free breakfast the next morning was delightful and every staff member we spoke with was upbeat and gave tips on how to enjoy the area. Even though we were only there one night, I would highly recommend this hotel and I hope to visit again myself soon.

Yelp
Beware! This Hotel is ran by a crook called Arturo Magana. They do false advertising in Booking.com and other booking engines. They show you pictures of rooms on the website and these pictures are nothing like their rooms. Plus they are unethical, impolite, unconsidered and plain rude. We reserved a family room for a family of 4 including 2 small kids, they provided us with 2 single beds and a flimsy rollaway bed that hardly fit in the room. When we voiced our displease the manager on Duty Barbara Gonzalez told us: "If you do not like it you can leave" This Happened on the Easter weekend and all hotels were full. Our hotel was prepaid in booking.com and they had checked us in. So my family was inside the room already. An employee in the Reception called Jose Alvear who allegedly worked earlier for booking.com admitted first that the booking was not what was promised but the manager on Duty Barbara Gonzalez, said they will not correct the mistake and again she rudely informed me that if I did not like the accommodations I could leave. My little kids were tired and hungry so, I said to them that we needed to eat first before we solved this issue, while we were eating Duty Manager Barbara called Owner Arturo Magana and under orders from Magana Jose Alvear cancelled my prepaid reservation. Leaving us with no room in n the busiest weekend if the year. Then Duty manager Barbara came to inform us that if we wanted back our room the price will not be what we originally paid but it will be 35 percent more expensive. I called the police and police after hearing the facts decided to side with us. And informed me that if they had already checked me in at the agreed price they had no right to increase the price 35 percent. And if they refunded my money without me asking for it it was their problem not mine. Police secured that we could stay in the hotel for that night as there was no other room available in the town and suggested not to agree to pay more money than originally agreed. Mr Magana the owner had absolutely no mercy for my family and my kids And under his instructions he told Jose Alvear to cancel our reservation without our consent and charge us 35 percent more. After wasting a whole afternoon on this issue, having our day ruined by an unethical owner and two rude and un polite employees the hotel insisted in charging us 35 percent more than our original pre-paid price, so under police protection and advice we managed to spend the night in the hotel and did not have to pay the money the crook owner wanted us to pay. Worst hotel experience ever! In these pictures below, you can see the police protecting my family, duty manager Barbara Gonzalez, texting with hotel Owner and heartless crook Arturo Magana and the fake "seals of quality" service they display on their reception. Once again: beware of booking a stay with this hotel. They ruined our vacation, violated our rights and we had to call the police to protect us!

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel for a wedding in Tlaquepaque and loved it! My gf and I were surprised at how beautiful the property was. This isn't the place to book if you are expecting ultra modern aesthetic or the frills of a 4 or 5 star hotel. This is truly a boutique hotel with tons of charm. They do have free wi-fi, are in close proximity to the town square, have English speaking staff (that are amazing), and pretty decent breakfast. As the hotel was pre-booked for the wedding party, this wasn't my first choice in hotels but I'm glad I got to stay here. Our room had a king bed, decent shower, nice view of the property, beautiful Mexican cultural features (figurines in the wall, tiling, wood beam running through the roof), great A/C and a little closet. This property is safe and my gf and I truly enjoyed the 3 days we stayed here. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Our favorite hotel, restaurant and bar in Central Mexico! Located in Tlaquepaque, a neighborhood in Mexico's 2nd largest city of Guadalajara, with numerous cultural attractions, galleries, upscale boutiques/shops, good restaurants and a large pedestrian only walking promenade. Hotel Quinta Don Jose is located one block off the main entrance into Centro Tlaquepaque on Calle Reforma and like previously stated, one has no clue on the interior from the front facade. This is somewhat typical in Mexico where establishments are often repurposed family haciendas/mansions. Ring the entry buzzer and ask to see the place. You will be impressed with what you see and members of their staff are great at making you feel welcome! While the rooms in the main building are well done and a bit more attractive price wise - we highly recommend considering the rooms back by the pool. Sure they are a bit more expensive but you gain a good deal more space and more amenities. An added plus is that they are quieter since they are further from the street. Their Tlaquepasta Restaurant has an extensive menu with a nice variety of different entrees. The presentations are classic and the staff goes out of their way to be friendly and attentive! The bar is attended to by Charly who just happens to be our favorite bartender in all of Mexico! His favorite topic of conversation: Route 66. In fact, last November, Charly took his first airplane flight to visit the US for the first time. The highlight of his visit: the Route 66 Museum in Springfield, MO. We just returned this week from an eight day visit and while things were shutting down because of the Coronavirus, the staff made us feel comfortable and well taken care of! We highly recommend staying at this wonderful establishment! Neil & Kathy

Yelp
We stayed here for five nights for our friends wedding. A. This hotel knows how to throw a wedding! The wedding was beautiful, the food was delicious, and we had such a blast! The hotel did a great job of taking care of all the wedding guests! We ate breakfast everyday at their little restaurant that is an adorable little plaza with a fountain. The waitresses were so nice, even though they had their hands full. The other restaurant TlaquePasta is delicious and has an awesome bar. The drinks were great, but the bartender Charlie was awesome! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had cute decor. I really appreciated that they had a water dispenser with filtered water in every room. Quinta Don Jose, thank you for taking such good care of us!

Yelp
Best Hotel in Tlaquepaque! I had the honor of spending many days and evening at this great establishment. It's difficult to pick one or even two elements that I can consider my favorites. Every corner of this place is obviously the result of intentional design by the owner and a truly dedicated staff that cares for it's guests as their own. Great drinks. Great food. The pool temp is perfect and it only rains at convenient times. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you!

Yelp
The first two times I stayed at QDJ I loved it so much that my husband and I decided to have our wedding there. It was absolutely magical. Such a beautiful, breathtaking venue and incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I cannot thank everyone at Quinta Don Jose enough for making our wedding a dream come true. Gaby, Arturo, and Estela were the dream team in planning. Charlie won over all of our guests with his delicious cocktails. Alta was so sweet during breakfast and with all of our housekeeping needs. Eduardo always smiling. Everyone, everyone, EVERYONE was wonderful. THANK YOU QUINTA DON JOSE!!!!!

Yelp
Stayed for 3 days with my kids. The whole place is charming and idyllic. Loved my entire stay. Enjoyed Suite #14 right by the pool. Best spot in the whole hotel. Ate dinner outside each night in our private patio. Will stay here from now on when we visit Tlaquepaque.

Yelp
This hotel is such a gem! I highly recommend staying here! We had an AMAZING time! The hotel is overall spectacular: large, beautiful rooms, immaculate grounds, and a gorgeous patio with a relaxing pool! The staff were all very helpful to us, and I can't wait to return!!! Viva Quinta Don Jose!!!

Yelp
Quinta Don Jose Boutique Hotel was amazing. Friendly staff, artsy decor, and comfortable rooms. Really enjoyed the hotel's pool and restaurant. There's lots of cool shopping and food within walking distance if you care to explore. I highly recommend this place if you're in Tlaquepaque!

Yelp
My wife, son, and I decided to stay at Quinta Don Jose shortly before Christmas and we had an amazing experience. First off, this hotel is located right in the heart of Tlaquepaque, an amazing city with a huge focus on art. The area is covered in sculptures, color, and culture. Quinta Don Jose itself was decorated with amazing and authentic Mexican decorations. It stands out as one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Every inch of the hotel is decorated well and you will immediately be able to tell that they spent a lot of time and consideration on making it a truly beautiful experience. Also, the restaurant, TlaquePasta is also fantastic with excellent breakfasts, dinners, and deserts. We ate there often and I never ate food there that was anything short of delicious. The bar has an excellent variety of tequila and mezcal. However, what stood out most in our stay at Quinta Don Jose was the staff. Often, you hear hotels advertising that they treat their guests like family, but at Quinta Don Jose, they actually pull it off spectacularly. We all had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the hotel, Arturo and Estella. They were incredibly personable and took the time to get to know us. You can tell how important it is to them that their guests are comfortable and treated well. And that commitment does not end with them. That commitment can be seen with every single employee of the hotel. We stayed for 6 days and, by the time we left, we were on a first name basis with the majority of the staff. We will definitely choose to stay at Quinta Don Jose again and we look forward to more great conversations with the very friendly and knowledgable employees there.

Yelp
I've had one of the best travel/hotel experiences here. If you're in Guadalajara, this is the place to stay! Clean rooms, Friendly staff, Great food and Beautiful patio and pool. Thank you QDJ for your warm hospitality!

Yelp
My two daughters and I enjoyed a week at Quinta Don Jose while we attended a local Spanish language school. The room was comfortable, the pool was clean and very refreshing and the attached restaurant, very good. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.
