Quinta dos Perfumes, Nr Tavira, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Quinta dos Perfumes translates as 'perfume farm' in English, a sweet reminder of this quinta's former life as a mallow farm that produced essential oils. In the 1950s, new owners planted the land with vines and then citrus, and today their sprawling 40-hectare grove incorporates grapes, pomegranates, avocados and 20,000 orange trees standing in neat rows like fragrant traffic lights changing from green to amber. The old farmhouse and factory have been tastefully renovated to create 17 cool guest bedrooms overlooking the estate and the coast beyond. A saltwater swimming pool sits among orange trees, four-poster daybeds line one side of a manicured lawn, and a panoramic roof terrace with loungers catches a glimmer of sea – perfect for sundowners. Days here start with fruits from the farm, cooked options, homemade jams and just-baked cakes and – of course – freshly squeezed orange juice. Borrow a free bicycle and pedal into the town of Cabanas, with its shops and restaurants, pavement cafes and boat trips to its island beaches. The old town of Tavira is a short drive or train ride away, and a quartet of pristine golf courses border the farm. You’re blissfully secluded here, yet immersed among the eastern Algarve’s greatest treasures. Highs Close to golf courses, restaurants, lovely Tavira and some of the Algarve’s best beaches, but tucked away in a hidden location among gardens and orange trees The pool is big, beautiful and set in a peaceful garden sheltered by orange trees Stunning roof terrace with panoramic views towards the ocean one way, the Sierra in the other Great for a car-free holiday: there’s a train station nearby, beaches are accessible by boat, and bicycles are free for guests to use Lows The hotel is close to the busy N125 coast road, and a train passes by once an hour during the day, but noise is minimal Although snacks and light lunches can be prepared on request, you’ll need to head into Cabanas or Tavira for more substantial meals. A full-service restaurant is in the pipe-line - watch this space This is a working farm, so you will occasionally hear the rumble of machinery Deluxe rooms don’t have private terraces, but they do have wonderful views" - Lesley Gillilan

We had a beautiful 2 night stay here. Elisabete, who checked us in, was delightful and gave a very in depth introduction. The rooms and spacious and well equipped. The pool is a great spot to whittle away some time. Breakfast was tasty. The grounds are really beautiful and as others have said, easy to bike to nearest town or drive to some great seaside spots. I could easily have stayed on a few more days. Loved it.

We spent 3 relaxing days and nights here. The farm and the grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and the facilities are so well maintained and designed. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We enjoyed the bike rides to cabanas, the fresh orange juice and the luxurious saltwater pool set amongst the orange trees. The breakfast on the outdoor terrace was so delicious and I’m sad I forgot to ask for the recipes for the amazing homemade cakes! Thank you all for everything!

We have stayed in one of the studios for 12 nights, and loved every minute of it. The room, while suitable for a small family, has a comfortable size for two persons. We have used the kitchenette to our satisfaction several times, although it is obviously not a full kitchen. |Out studio was on the east side; so morning sun on the private terrace, but not in the afternoon. The facilities and the location are very beautiful; expect a large orange orchard all around you. The pool has a decent size and there are several sun beds around it. The nearest beach time is walking distance.|The service we received was near to perfect: from the reception to the kitchen, and even the cleaning persons, everybody was kind and personal. After one day they knew our special requests for the breakfast, and offered it every next day without us having to ask. Any drink or small meal we ordered could be served to our room/terrace, the general area, or to their roof terrace. They also had good recommendations where to eat, and which beach to go to.|Some points to consider: there is a train track with a few trains every day (I estimate every hour). It starts around 7 am though. It didn't bother us, but I guess it is more noticeable in one of the 'sea facing' rooms. There is also a main road nearby, and depending on the hour of the day and the direction of the wind, the sound of the cars is more or less noticeable. Neither of this would stop us from booking again though.

The location is very good. The swimming pool is super. It’s a pity that there is no view from the terraces of the studios. Breakfast is good, but lacks some variety. The female staff is very friendly and always in a good mood. This however could not be said about the one male staff member, who didn’t seem to like his job.

10 minute drive from Tavira town, you are agreed by a dirt road surrounded by 100’s of Orange trees. This place is the land that time forgot. ||We spent 2 nights here the peace and tranquility was amazing. You will be defeated by the silence. ||We ordered dinner on both nights as it is served on the roof terrace, I would highly recommend a 8pm sitting as to watch the sun set it is surreal. ||Food lovely and staff amazing. ||We couldn’t get over the honesty bars a really classy touch.

Quinta dos Perfumes, Tavira||||Everything You Need for the Perfect Escape||||We had the most wonderful time at Quinta Dos Perfumes (QdP). Nestled among the orange groves of Tavira, the setting is simply magical. Blackbirds and Jays rustle in the underbrush, while Swallows swoop down to sip from the seawater swimming pool. Diogo, the French Bulldog, is always on patrol, looking for playmates and belly rubs, while the five cats do their best to remain undisturbed.||||The rooms are tastefully furnished, offering everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed in a studio that came with a two-zone hob, a large fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker—perfect for preparing simple meals. The space also included cutlery, glasses, and tableware. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the AC worked efficiently, and the blackout blinds ensured a restful night’s sleep. Plus, we couldn’t hear the occupants in the adjacent room, which added to the peace and quiet.||||One of our favourite activities was cycling to the nearby town of Cabanas, where we’d take the ferry to the beach. ||||On other days, we explored Tavira, Santa Luzia, Barril Beach, and Fuesta. The Rota da Costa Atlântica is easily accessible from the property, offering more scenic routes to discover.||||The location couldn’t be better. With kilometres of pristine, unspoiled beaches just a stone’s throw away, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. The sea is the warmest I’ve ever swum in. Plus, QdP is just a short drive from Faro airport, making it ideal for a quick transfer. Tavira, with its charming cobbled streets, is also nearby—perfect for a leisurely dinner or stroll.||||Our heartfelt thanks to Sergio, Ana, Elisabete, and everyone who makes Quinta Dos Perfumes so special. We’re already looking forward to returning and will happily recommend this hidden gem to our friends and family.||||P.S. The Almond Sweet Egg Roll is an absolute must-try. We had an early check-out, and the takeaway breakfast was a delightful surprise. It’s gestures like this that truly make a stay unforgettable. Thank you, S and E.

Lovely breakfast & great setting amongst orange groves. Staff were keen, friendly & accommodating. We had room 8 which was slightly limiting in size for a couple & most exposed to the occasional train merely metres away. Unfortunately the mix of agricultural business & luxe hotel did not work in our favour. Without warning on our last day from 07:30 the field opposite us (belonging to the hotel owners) had a giant bulldozer noisily flattening the dry earth thus creating diesel fumes & much billowing of dust lasting most of the day. It meant the outdoor breakfast was compromised & we could not relax in our terrace room or even have our doors open. The hotel response was apologetic but inadequate (offering a bottle of wine as recompense). I can only assume the hotel is happy to charge the full amount regardless of a guests experience. On this occasion we did not feel we enjoyed a €270 per night 4 star hotel stay & certainly would not risk another visit.
