If you get an upgrade, the premium rooms are amazing, otherwise, they can be a little clamped. The garden is amazing and the view is splendid. The breakfast had a lot of diverse food, but the quality is not the best. Also, small heads up, the spa facilities (saunas, indoor pool, gym) are only free for the premium rooms.

The garden was absolutely beautiful - well-maintained and a lovely place to relax. The staff were also very friendly and polite. Our room was spacious and clean. However, it lacked an air conditioner, making it quite difficult to sleep comfortably at night. Unfortunately, the spa facilities were horrible. They were by far the worst we’ve experienced — very basic, not particularly clean, and incredibly overpriced. Honestly, the hotel should consider removing “spa” from its name, as it doesn’t live up to expectations. Breakfast was generally good, but the fake coffee from the machine was a disappointment — not the best way to start the day.

Very beautiful place, I was enjoying myself like a queen in the so nice garden and room. And the fish food of the hotel 🏨 was delicious. Never tast so many fish 🐟🐠but your are on a island 800 kilometers from others. Nice to go with the catamaran boat to see 🐬dolphins and 🐋 whales.

We were very disappointed. The suites cost over €300 per night, yet there is no air conditioning, making it hard to sleep due to the heat. We also encountered a large cockroach in the bathroom. The breakfast was not good, and the room decor and facilities felt outdated and poorly maintained. There was no staff to assist us to our room upon arrival, despite the size of the complex. Apart from the spa and the botanical garden, the overall quality is quite poor and doesn’t justify the high price. You’re better off staying at a more modern hotel in Funchal. On top of that, parking is charged separately, which should really be included at this price point, especially considering the overall experience.

My Mum and I came to stay at Quinta Spendida for her 80th birthday. We chose this hotel as we are keen gardeners and from reviews the garden sounded lovely. It didn't disappoint. Indeed, after seeing many of the gardens that Madeira has to offer, I would say it is amongst the best. Something interesting to see around each corner, including little kitchen gardens which were interesting.||Even better than the gardens was the friendliness of the hotel staff. Thank you for helping make our stay so peaceful and enjoyable.||Some reviews say the rooms are dated. We found them to be spacious and pretty. Yes not extremely modern, but then we would not like that. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job each day. We each had a studio room with a side sea view. We really appreciated the position of these rooms. We could see the gardens, the hills and the sea. I was especially fortunate to have a room on the corner which felt a bit more private and I would get up early to watch the sun rise over the islands. Our rooms were also further away from the restaurant and the evening entertainment, so lovely and quiet most of the time. ||The hotel is not in Funchal itself but there are plenty of local buses to get around. Cancico is a mix of holiday accomodation and locals so vistors are able to get a flavour of everyday life in Madeira. Something much more difficult if you are staying in 'hotel land' in Funchal. It felt like coming home each time we returned from a trip and several days we chose just to relax in the hotel grounds.||The hotel is not close to the sea. You can walk to the sea in about 20-30 minutes, though, like most beaches in Madeira the local beach is not sand. The quinta has both an outdoor and indoor pool which is great, especially on the cooler days. From the outdoor pool you have the impression that the sea is just a hop, skip and a jump away.||Visitors to the hotel seemed to be a mix of ages and this changed as the visitors changed. There were retirees, groups of friends in their 20s and honeymooners. We were not the only mother and daughter team. The atmosphere was very relaxed and you could dress up for dinner or simply be smart/casual. ||To sum up, we liked it so much, that after arriving we invited my sister to join us too!

Amazing service, great location, near to airport and plenty of shops and restaurants. Got a room upgrade for my partners birthday and it was absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was extensive with options for all diets. Views unreal. Gardens beautiful. food fresh. Staff lovely. Thank you so much definitely coming back.

Lovely resort with beautiful gardens, kind staff and comfortable rooms! We really enjoyed our stay. ||When we arrived we were immediately amazed by the beautiful gardens and pool. There is a wide variety of plants and flowers to enjoy and the plants, paths, pool, etc. are very well maintained. |I read some reviews mentioning the rooms are quite dated, which I guess you could say is true, but this really is no problem in my opinion. The rooms are very neat and clean, you have everything you need and everything works! The only thing I could see being a problem is the fact the walls are quite thin. We had a neighbour who snored very loudly and there are some dogs in the area around the resort that will bark throughout the night, which did sometimes keep me up for a while. I must say however it's only a moderate amount of noise, light sleepers like myself might just want to bring some earplugs to be safe. ||We opted for a half pension stay with a breakfast and dinner buffet, which I was personally very satisfied with. Both buffets offer a wide variety of food options and though some of the food was more simple, there was always plenty of choices to enjoy for all of us. |Next to the resort (only about a minute walk) is a supermarket where you can easily get anything else you need. ||We experienced the staff at Quinta Splendida as extremely kind, they are all very easygoing and happy to help you with anything you need. ||Overall a lovely resort that is well maintained and cares about their customers! I highly recommend!

A perfect place for rest and relaxation. We are here at the moment. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and made up of a number of two storey buildings in the gardens. The gardens are beautiful but I bet even better in spring or early summer. We are B&B and the breakfast is fantastic plenty to choose from. We opted to eat in the restaurant on Madeira night and it cost £37.50 per person including wine. It was good food. The rooms are a little dated I prefer the term quaint. Some of the doors on furniture may not hang straight, the bath has seen better days (chipped enamel) but everything is clean and there are loads of draws and wardrobe space. Ours is an apartment with a kitchenette which has all you need. Nearby is a supermarket and a handful of bars but not many places to eat out if like us B&B. I would name staff who we have been good but the list would be too long. All staff seem to speak very good English and German some French too. The reception staff are incredibly informative and helpful.
