Great place to have dinner in Redwood City before a show. Same franchise as Vive Sol in Mountain View but a much better ambience. Mole Poblano was rich and slightly spicy perfect for me with Spanish rice and beans. Grandmas chicken was sweet and offset the Mole. Our friends loved their Mole Enchiladas and Veg Mole. Margaritas were strong. Picante was sweet and spicy. Service was good. Plenty of parking nearby. Only thing I did not like was that they do not take reservations and after the seated us after 20 min wait it took about 10 min before some e came to our table.

I have been here a couple times, I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. This place is really lovely, the food is delicious, it is definitely upscale Mexican food, but the quality is worth the price. Definitely make a reservation, gets really crowded and is very popular. We loved all of our dishes (the mole is outstanding!), and the service was wonderful. Do save room for dessert, I dream about the flan!

The food was absolutely delicious and authentically Mexican. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and it wasn’t just the food, but the atmosphere as well. Our server was polite, friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed this place. Excellent food and service. They have some really nice authentic meals from the Puebla region. It was a bit noisy but that's partly attributable to the mariachi band so well worth it!

Been years since I’ve been here and it’s still very good! Great service, atmosphere and food! Had the sea bass and it was amazing! Bear rice and beans I’ve had in a long time! Need to come this direction more often! Bf had the chicken salad and he said it was really good and dressing is to die for!

If you’re looking to eat authentic Mexican food, go no where else! Food was brilliant. Menu is extensive and all of them are great. Guacamole was so fresh particularly. Service was quick. Overall absolutely recommend! Will come back again and again when I crave Mexican!!

The food was good some of the dishes were pretty bland. However, the servers were really great and attentive. The atmosphere was great and it was such a good experience. I would come back again.

This is one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants every time we get together in San Mateo. It's in Redwood city. The only thing negative about this place is to find a parking space. Most of the street parkings are closed off due to being worked on. I had to park 2 long blocks away and walk in the cold and light rain LOL. Anyhow, the restaurant is nice, high ceiling and quite big. The hosts are quite pleasant and helpful. We had to wait for all members of our party showed up to be seated even with reservation. The place is quite noisy from birthday parties to just plain get together like ourselves. The appetizers are quite tasty, we liked the nachos, guacamole, very rich and filling. The chips are light and crispy with 3 dipping salsa dishes. My Margarita was quite good although they only offer on rocks and not blended. Let me warn you, the dinner plates are very big, if you have the appetizer, it's better to order a la cart instead of the whole combo plates of any kind. You'll be taking some home for lunch the next day. I ordered the fish taco plate, the fish wasn't breaded fried, not crispy like some other restaurants, but with all the veggies, quite tasty and no fish smell. The rice and beans were great, but it's big so I took the rest home for lunch. Everyone in my family ordered different plates and they're all huge and delicious from wet burritos, shrimps, salads, etc. The prices are a little high, average $30 a plate, but for the restaurants atmosphere, the area, I think it's reasonable. The important thing is the service is attentive, fast, pleasant and the foods are excellent, except the walk back to our cars on the street. I've been here twice and I do like it. We'll always come here if Mexican food is desired.

I recently had dinner at Quinto Sol and was impressed with the ambiance, friendly service and amazing food. The restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Redwood City, right by the theaters making it a perfect place for a pre/post entertainment meal. There is lots of natural light, ambient lighting and natural minerals in the restaurant which makes very beautiful. Our server Uri was exceptional. He went above and beyond to ensure that our meal and dining experience was a 5 star experience. He was friendly, attentive and went out of his way to make sure that our dinner was prompt and delicious. He made many vegan recommendations and was happy to modify the vegetarian burrito. I ordered this with chipotle salsa and it was amazing! The vegetables really were quite delicate and the rice was flavorful. I preferred the mashed black beans to typical refried beans and I could tell how fresh all of the ingredients were. I really appreciated the thorough descriptions of the dishes on the menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant and Uri deserves a raise for his welcoming personality and amazing service!!!

I honestly can't believe I'm even writing this, but here we are. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday, and let's just say it was a *terrible* experience from start to finish. First of all, when we asked if they could bring out a candle for our friend -- something *literally* every restaurant I've ever been to has done without an issue -- we were told we HAD to order a dessert. Not "suggested," not "offered" -- they *demanded* it. No option to just bring a candle with a little whipped cream or a small gesture like most places would happily do. Super rude and completely unnecessary. On top of that, the food was so mid -- nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth the price or the attitude we were given. You'd expect at least decent service if the food isn't going to blow you away, but no, it just kept getting worse. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something special, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants that actually *want* you to enjoy your time there. --- Would you like a few more versions depending on whether you want the tone to be *harsher*, *more sarcastic*, or *more professional*?

Located downtown near theater way. Great seating inside or outside. Great decor and they now take reservations. Good Cocktails and food is good. The service was is great as well.

Everything was perfect! The staff, the service and the food! Great experience and I normally an not a fan of Mexican food, but this was delicious.

Stopped by for a quick drink before heading over to the movies. It was pretty busy for a Saturday, Michael at the entrance was very welcoming and guided us our bar seats. Our cocktails were all a 10/10, it's a shame we didn't have time for some bites but that gives us a reason to be back.

We went to Quinto Sol for a team event. 1. Ambience is 5 star and specially there was a musician on the upper balcony who was playing out of the world saxophone. 2. Food was good but average not extraordinary. The Avacado Guacamole can be better. It was not the typical green you see and again I may be off in quality wise but it was ok in taste. 3. Hot Salsa needs to be hotter ! 4. Veg Quesidillas were good. 5. Server and Waiter both were very good. 6. One star is only taken of for quality of food which could be a notch tastier and spicier.

Order enchiladas with pulled pork and chicken. The chicken was soft and flavorful but the pork was chewy and a little bland. The mole was pretty good though! Drinks were average. Service was attentive.

We visited Quinto Sol for dinner on a Wednesday, having made a reservation for our party of 8. The interior was very spacious and decorated with star-shaped light fixtures, a large Mexican flag, and a tree wrapped in sting lights. The ambiance was casual but festive. For drinks, I got a Lemonade, which was pretty standard, but they had an entire Margarita Menu. My friends said the Margaritas were excellent, especially the X-Rated. We got two orders of Guacamole Fresco for the table, which was so good. It came with a large basket of tortilla chips, and had the perfect consistency. For my entree, I got the Chicken Enchiladas Al Sol. Unfortunately, this just wasn't very good. The enchiladas had two sauces - half mole and half guajillo. The guajillo was the better of the two, but neither could compensate for how dry the chicken was. The portion size was generous, but I only finished half the dish, because I just wasn't loving it. I would probably stick to just drinks and snacks next time. Fast and friendly service though!

One of the best go to restaurants in downtown Redwood City. Nice bar and excellent bartenders that make the best margaritas, the tequila choices are plentiful. The food is consistently delicious. Can be crowded and loud sometimes on weekends, but I like it, just people enjoying food and having a good time. Sometime ago, we met the owner who came and checked on our table, she is a kind soulful lady that cares about everything.

After several visits to Quinto Sol, the overall consensus is the food is not that great with a few exceptions. Most items I've tried are pretty bland and lack flavoring. Most often a little added salt goes a long way but for the prices that you pay, you expect better flavor. Portions sizes are average. Now for the good stuff. The sopa azteca is very good and hearty, but the real stand out is the fish ceviche. It is consistently good, and while it lacks a little spice (for most of my friends) it's perfect for someone like me who likes a little kick without being overwhelming. The service is pretty good most days, but can be a little lacking when the place is very busy (like during summer downtown events).

Quinto Sol is one of those places that just transports you -- the ambience, the food, and especially the margaritas. Hands-down, they serve some of the strongest and most delicious margaritas in town. Every sip reminds me of being back in Cabo. The food is vibrant and flavorful, and I love grabbing a seat at the bar -- it's got a great energy without being too loud or crowded. The service is consistently warm and attentive, which adds to the overall experience. It's truly a solid institution in Redwood City. While there's always room for a little extra polish, this place is absolutely worth a visit -- or several. A must-go for anyone who appreciates great Mexican food and drinks in a lively setting.

I have been here twice. Once when the summer concert was happening right opposite and you got to hear the lovely music ( it was the 70s songs) Sit outside if the weather permits. The portions are huge and the second time I directly had the main course. Friendly staff and prompt service. I had the Pedroni the second time around and it was absolutely delicious. The margarita glasses are huge. So if you are not driving this is the place to go drinking in Redwood City.

This was a great place for the kiddies as they enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa along with the guac. They of course also nibbled on some other things we ordered. Service was awesome. The atmosphere is bustling so it was fun to drink, talk, eat, catch up. We were definitely a drinking table. The server kept the beverages flowing which was nice. And recommended tequilas as we were not that versed in that type of liquor. Well, at least I am not. Fun spot for a bday dinner!

High quality, expensive upscale Mexican food. Popular place. Nearly full house at 9 pm on a Friday Ordered a Carne Asada burrito takeout over the phone. Asked for less rice and no added salt. Ready in 10 mins. $25 without tax and tip Food came in 2 trays. First tray was a completely flat tortilla with a layer of melted cheese on top and sliced steak and bell peppers underneath. Second tray was half rice and half pureed beans with some cheese on top. Not your typical Taqueria burrito. Didn't look anything like one. More like a quesadilla with rice and beans on the side. No guacamole, sour cream, pico, etc. All the food was good and you can tell all ingredients used were quality. Steak was tender. Not a single chewy piece. Food was all tasty without being salty as requested. Portions were fair, not generous nor skimpy. I'd say the only negative is price. It did come with a bag of fresh chips and 3 different little containers of salsa Was it good? Yes. Would I go back? Probably not. I'm more of a Taqueria guy. I prefer cheap and tasty basic tacos and super burritos. That's just personal preference

Really really enjoyed my time here with the family. We sat outside which at first glance might have been a questionable idea. To my surprise it was perfectly fine and a beautiful day. The staff was great, they took good care of all our requests and orders. We started with chips and guacamole, the chips are big but not too thick. The worst part about the experience was the water they had on the table. One bottle had a fly in it soaking up the good vibes and drinking the water. According to the other guest I came with, the water tasted like super tap. 0 out of 10 for the water. Everything else was perfect. I ordered the Sabana Invierno- (if you go please get this it was great!) Over all, 4 stars and a great end to a good day.

A very beautiful restaurant. We ate there on a Tuesday night live music from a wonderful saxophonist. The margaritas were amazing. I chose the house margarita, but my friends chose the "Master". I could definitely taste the difference. Both were wonderful, but the master was truly better. The guacamole and chips were very good also but a little pricey, We ordered the fish tacos. The fish is FRESH not frozen. Very good food.

The place is conveniently located in downtown Redwood City and close to the theaters and other places to eat. This spot was catchy since they look busy with many customers. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated too. I made a reservation over the phone and upon arrival was greeted warmly by the host and didn't wait long to be seated. Our server was also prompt and welcoming. I was delighted to see their vegetarian options since I didn't feel like having any meat for the evening. Elected to have a house margarita and was served with thier chips and varieties of salsa which was good. But the margarita wasn't the best and it tasted bland. We ended ordering their tacos with Rajas and corn with everything on it and a plate of mole combo. The food came just perfect timing as we were already starving. We started having our meal but we were unfortunately dissatisfied with its tastes and flavor, it didn't taste like it had any type of condiments and it tasted soo plain. I did communicate that to our server just so to let the kitchen know for the sake of others. Our server tried to fix the issue by offering us desserts but we declined. It's alright. We paid our bill and left for the night. I felt a bit disappointed as I was excited to try and test them out. Very unfortunate that we did not enjoy the drink and the food. But the service was exceptional. I'll have to think about it first if I'll try them again and give them another chance another time.

This might be the best grandmas special pollo I've ever had! The elote and guacamole were great too. The service was great! The decorations are pretty. It's a little loud but most restaurants are.

A convenient location in downtown Redwood City, right across from the movie theater. But, this place is EXPENSIVE. A carne asada burrito set me back $25. The food is good. There meat is flavorful and the crema based sauces on top of the burrito are a nice touch. But to me, nothing really justifies the inflated costs here. Inside, it's very noisy. Outside, there is a lot of foot traffic so it can also get noisy there too. The service here has always been great. Very friendly and attentive staff. I come here with family every now and then, most likely will be back again too! But, with all that being said, I would probably choose to go somewhere else for a burrito.

From the minute we walked in the door (15 minutes early), we felt welcome and were treated very well. Our server Herman was phenomenal! He was very engaging, and you could feel he loved his job! In fact everyone seemed happy working there. Now on to the food! Oh My Goodness! Everything was delicious, and had a unique taste, even something as basic as the chips and salsa! I had the enchiladas with mole' sauce and it was so good that I wished I had ordered two! I also had the best margarita ever! The perfect mixture of everything, Bust margarita I've ever had! It was comfortable and cozy. We can't wait to get back there again!

Ghosted by surly waitress in faux-Chanel earrings for two hours; gaslit by manager for complaining. Never going back. Something tells me if we were a table of businessmen we would have had a very different experience as I saw her laying on the charm at such tables. $100 on dinner just to be literally ignored is crazy! Thought this place would be busy on the weekends since they didn't take reservations on the weekends. Walked in and they sat us immediately. Place was pretty packed. Nice decor. It's very nice that some restaurants still offer chips and salsa at the table and not charge for it. They gave us 3 different salsas. Our meals were delicious. Would definitely come back. Service was speedy. Alcoholic drinks were good. Will definitely be back for the chips and salsa.

Mole was not too flavorful. It reminded me of the canned doña Maria. Tortillas were likely a popular standard store brand. The Serrano chicken dish was creamy and flavorful. The refried beans were okay. The rice seemed a bit overcooked. Service was hit or miss. Our server was personable and tried his best. Servers were extremely busy on a Friday night. Our drinks were brought much after dishes we sent out. (I saw the waiter at the bar - maybe he had to make the drinks?) Chips and dips were brought even later. I had to remind the waiter about the tortillas. The water was not refilled. The entire meal felt rushed.

Came here for dinner with a friend on Wednesday night and while they were fairly busy, we had no issue getting seated. We both ordered drinks and really enjoyed them. I got a skinny spicy margarita which had just the right amount of kick to it. I got a plate with an a la carte cheese enchilada and chicken tostada. Both were good. We got guacamole to share which was a bit bland. My friend got a taco and quesadilla. We both overall enjoyed our meals and would definitely be back

Quick take: fish tacos The fish tacos here weren't bad. On the other hand, this is the most I've ever paid for fish tacos ($25). My friend kept ordering margaritas and telling the waiter to add more tequila in it. Also, gestering at the staff behind the bar to go heavier on the tequila. To be honest, I can't even remember which margaritas we ordered. Definitely a generous portion on the margarita drinks. This is a type of restaurant I will go to if the birthday person requests to eat at this spot. This isn't something I would crave all the time. This restaurant is located in downtown RWC. It's in a nice location by the San Mateo County History Museum.

Quinto Sol is perfectly located in Downtown Redwood City. We went at 7:00pm on Saturday, and we didn't have to wait (group of 3). The place is beautifully decorated, service is also very nice. Their drinks are delicious, I've had strawberry and mango margaritas (both with mezcal and tequila). The nachos were amazing, the chips are super crunchy, and they are loaded with cheese, crema, and refried beans. After the nachos we were kinda full so we ordered small plates. The single cheese enchilada with salsa Guajillo was great, tons of cheese and creamy sauce. My friends also loved their dishes!

We dipped into here on a whim trying to find a warm spot for dinner in Redwood City's downtown. The ambiance was nice and the staff were very friendly. They had Christmas decor too which was lovely. We ordered two x-rated margs, the Rajas Poblanas and the corn elote to share between two of us. Our total was close to $40 each after tip and tax. The food was pretty underwhelming, but not bad tasting. I unfortunately probably would not be back for that. The drinks were solid, but also have had much better. The chips and salsa that came free was very good though! The verde salsa was actually quite spicy and all 3 salsas that came with it were all flavorful. Overall a good place for the ambiance but a bit of a letdown for the food and drinks.

Ordered the combo Chicken and Beef Mole which was far too sweet and poorly prepared. There chips and salsa is great!!!! Good place to run a tab of drinks but I don't care for generic non authentic dishes except the chocolate flan!!?

I ordered the chicken enchiladas and chicken taco. The meat was dry and tasteless. The flour tortilla ripped before I could even take a bite. Food needs flavor and improvement. Quality did not match the price. Was not impressed

Went here after the movies to have dinner. No reservation but were seated pretty quickly. Really nice interior and atmosphere in the restaurant. Good mix of crowd as well. We ordered some drinks and the fish tacos and the Rajas Poblanas. Portion size is really generous. Both dishes were great from start to finish. Nicely seasoned, high quality ingredients and good taste. Couldn't finish everything and took some boxes home. Staff checks in on you frequently and were friendly. Really enjoyed this place and will surely come back here.

Came here on a whim on a Friday night. They close their kitchen at 930pm, doors close at 10pm. We arrived at 910pm and they still were very open and accommodating to having us. The staff was absolutely incredibly. To drink, I had the Jarritos Guava (Mexican soda) and it was amazingly delicious! They served chips & salsa (red and dark brown. Loved the dark brown one, didn't like the red one). Tortillas were delicious! To eat, I got the carne asada which came with the beef a & onions (beef was slightly tasteless but the onions added so much flavor!), rice, black beans and guac. I ate to the very last bite. It was so good (once I mixed the bites together). Okay the meat was well done, but it's also a thick piece of meat and just didn't taste like anything by itself. So having the onions was crucial. Honestly very much enjoyed this spot and I 10/10 recommend. Such an amazing spontaneous date dinner, can't wait to return

Not only does this restaurant have delicious food but the staff is always friendly and helpful when ordering. Their drink menu is plentiful and they have a kick for sure. Whether you are craving some exceptional Mexican food or just out on a date night, don't pass this spot up and give it a chance, you won't be disappointed!

As other reviewers have stated, food is not really that great compared to other Mexican restaurants. But service and outside seating are outstanding. Didn't have to wait long. Waiter came right over and he was really good.

Upon entering quinto sol for the first time, I felt impressed by the beautiful decor and by the crowd of people waiting to dine here. We waited about 30 minutes on Friday evening before our table was ready. We started with chips and guacamole, which tasted like it was missing something. I think an extra squeeze of lime or something acidic would have improved the quality. My mango margarita was also mediocre. I enjoyed my shrimp and the rice and beans were also decent. I felt that the menu prices were a bit high for the quality of the food received. The other three people dining with me weren't impressed either. I'd definitely try out a different Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area for our next outing.

Unfortunately, they do not take reservations during the pandemic but if you arrive early it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Upon arrival we found metered parking nearby and since we got there before 6 p.m. we had to feed the parking meter. Just note metered parking is free usually after 6 p.m. We went up to the host desk and put our name of the list. It wasn't too bad of a wait. We had the option of outdoor dining or indoor dining. They have limited spots available for indoor dining. Since the weather was beautiful we decided to sit outdoors. I love the menu here at Quinto Sol. There are so many options for family and friends- enough to satisfy even the pickiest diner. We ordered the following: Guacamole appetizer (5/5) my 8 year old insisted we order this as it's his all time favorite. A definite crowd pleaser for an appetizer. Vegetarian Burrito (5/5) (for my husband) My husband enjoyed his vegetarian burrito - tasty and filling. 2 plate combo chicken tostada and chicken quesadilla (5/5) (for my 8 year old son) He loved this dish. He ate most of this and it's an adult portion with only a little leftover for his snack the next day (like one piece of his quesadilla). 2 plate combo vegetarian tostada and a beef enchilada (5/5) for myself) this was so delish. While, I loved my meal and the beef enchilada was outstanding- I might change things up next time and order a cheese enchilada to make my meal vegetarian. When we sat down we were given menus, water and freshly made chips and salsa. The chips and salsa are a great way to start the meal! The customer service was on point. Ramon our waiter was friendly and took good care of our family during the entire meal. Our waters were always refilled by the other staff and the plates cleared in a timely manner. Dessert For dessert we ordered the guava cheesecake and vanilla bean flan. Both were super delicious but do note the guava cheesecake is seasonal as they are using fresh guava for the cheesecake. We loved both desserts!!! Drinks I ordered the Guava Margarita and it's amazing! I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinking but it's my favorite :) Overall, we love Quinto Sol. In 2020 before the pandemic and the lockdown hit we celebrated my birthday party there with my family and I was so happy with the food, ambiance and service. It's our go to spot for weekly family dinners or date night. The food is simply delicious and the customer service is great. The prices for food are on par with the other bay are restaurants that we frequent- and are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Definitely a favorite is my Yelp Notebook. Street parking is free after 6 pm Come early as the line can get uber long.

Had dinner here with a friend and his two kids. Started with excellent service. We were told the wait would be ten minutes, so we waited outside on the public bench. Rather than texting our phone, the hostess came out to tell us the table was ready and walked us to very nice outside seating around the corner. Kids had roasted corn on the cob and a couple different kinds of tacos. They ate it all. I had the chicken enchilada with mole. When they served it, I thought there was too much mole sauce, but it turned out to be great. All the food was good. More than one person needs to eat, but that's the way of the world. Very nice atmosphere. At little music. Not loud. Sidewalk seating in a pedestrian walkway kind of street. So very pleasant. Good food. Good value. Quite convenient to the old Fox Theatre (venue) or the new Century Theater. :-)

I enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Be prepared to wait in line if you have weekends. The chile rellenos are not they typical ones I am used to as these are in a broth. It was different but I liked them.

One of my favorite restaurants, ambiance is great, service is spectacular and the staff is so attentive and friendly. The food is so tasty and reminds me of my culture, good for dinner or just taps and a drink!

We love this restaurant . Jonathan was a wonderful server , and we loved the food and margaritas ! Great restaurants to dine at on a hot summer evening!!
