Quirk Hotel Charlottesville

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? The eye-catching, glass-clad front exterior offers a window into the serene interior. The lobby is a modern muse; the white ceiling and walls rise cocoon-like above and around you as you walk through the minimally designed space. The furnishings are low-slung and simple but artistic, with cooling creams and grays paired with pink (the signature hue), orange and gold accents. The pièce de résistance is the kudzu leaf installation by creatives Aaron McIntosh and Marie Fornaro. Each leaf represents the personal journeys of queer-identifying people throughout the South. What's the backstory? This is the second Quirk Hotel from Virginia activists and arts patrons Ted and Katie Ukrop, who opened their Richmond iteration in 2015. Unlike the first Quirk, which is housed in a renovated department store, the 80-room Charlottesville concept was built from the ground up, with design led by Architecturefirm. (The studio is known for, among other things, the Museum of Ice Cream NYC.) Adding more (well) quirkiness, the hotel was built around two 19th-century brick farm homes, juxtaposing its modern style with historical, period architecture. (The Vernacular-style red house, by the way, has a café and barrel-aged spirits bar; the Federal-style beige abode has a beauty salon and the hotel’s Loft Suite.) The hotel not only has an adjacent gallery but also spotlights myriad pieces throughout. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? This may sound too specific off the bat, but let me start with the headboard, one of the aforementioned art pieces. These creations are custom made by Richmond-based abstract painter Kiki Slaughter. The colorful splatters, which repeat many of the hotel’s key hues, dance before the eyes, rhythmically soothing one into a sound sleep. There were no complaints with the deluxe double queen—though the full soaking tub found in the Destination Suite entices more than this room's walk-in shower. (There are waterfall shower heads and Nest toiletries; some rooms have balconies, too.) The bedding was cozy, and the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows provided a scene of charming downtown Charlottesville. Tech was fine (nothing too over-the-top), and there was a desk, chair, and a mini bar. A tip: Book the Loft Suite in the beige farmhouse simply for the historic experience. One thing I missed: The Richmond location had cute, punchy pink Igloo mini fridges; it would be nice to see those here, too. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?Dining or drinking here is a choose-your-own-adventure experience and is good for those who like to try it all, couples who can’t make a decision and groups who have multiple viewpoints. There are five different spots to savor and sip. The most popular spot (particularly right now) is the indoor-outdoor Q Rooftop overlooking the town and Blue Ridge Mountains. They can make whatever suits your taste, but I’m not much of a cocktail drinker, so I'd stick to wine—there are regional choices on the list, which I suggest trying for a taste of the terroir. The menu trends Italian, with summer produce such as squash blossoms showing up on pizza. If I were a local, I’d spend my outdoor evenings here, seated on the terrace. The Pink Grouse is the all-day restaurant. The two-tops facing the window, with their bright yellow chairs, make a pretty picture for dining inside. The menu was originally designed by the team at Maple & Pine, from the Richmond location, and will serve up micro-seasonal, regional dishes that celebrates Virginia’s land. Vegetables are prominent on the seasonal small plates selection (roasted beet noodles, a salad of baby radish, a number of variations of broccoli) and as large-plate sides, with enticing preparations like potato noodles with fennel cream and chive oil. Among the other spots will be Bobboo, housed in one of the property’s two historic homes. It has not opened yet due to the pandemic. When it does, the barrel-aged spirits bar with decor that recalls Mad Men, will pour whiskeys from around the world, including a custom creation from locally run Reservoir Distillery. Insider tip: Frequent visitors can buy whiskey lockers to store their spirit of choice. And the service? The service is smooth; among the perks is an online check-in process in which your mobile key is uploaded to your app. You don't even need to stop at the front desk. What type of travelers will you find here? They are playful, youthful and spirited, with an appreciation for art, culture and community. There’s also a contingent of the selfie-snapping crowds, given the hotel’s Instagram-worthy places and patterns. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel make itself part of the scene? It definitely makes itself part of the community with a contemporary gallery and shop that showcase area artists (in addition to national talents). It's in the busy downtown district, so there's plenty to do, with accessibility to other restaurants like Red Pump Kitchen (a personal favorite) and wineries. The University of Virginia is also nearby should you want to traipse through campus. Any other hotel features worth noting? There is a reservation-only gym, the Laurie Nicole hair salon, and special programming on the rooftop in partnership with the community, like a cycling class with Pūrvelo. I do want to give another shout out though to the excellent bi-level gallery and retail shop. They celebrate art here in a special way. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?Yes! It's chic, funky, and cool, and there's plenty to do without even leaving the hotel. You are in Charlottesville though, so you probably should. There's much to explore, particularly in the food and wine scene. You can head to a bucolic vineyard during the day, then motor back to an ultra-modern haunt to relax and unwind." - Kristen Schott

My friend and I had a girls weekend and stayed at this lovely hotel for a night, and wow did it exceed our expectations!! The food was great, the bed was extremely comfortable, the speakeasy bar was amazing, the room very clean, and the overall aesthetic of the hotel was top notch! I will definitely be staying here again next time I am in the area!

The hotel is no longer called the Quirk, but The Doyle. We were not informed that it had changed hands. It now has digital check-in, of which we were not informed. Thank goodness there is a phone number to call. The hotel computer system would not let us check-in digitally, but we were assisted by the wonderful Sierra at the front desk, which will apparently become a thing of the past. |We were there for four nights in a Premium King Balcony Room - we had NO cleaning service for our entire visit. For this much money, you expect a little service.|There were someone's socks left on the balcony.|Please note that there is pink LED lighting in the elevator if you are light sensitive.|You must pay for parking which is non-existent. $25 for valet: on two occasions, we parked in valet parking directly in front of the hotel, and our car was never moved until we left again. You must pay in advance for your parking, also. The hotel has contracted out the parking service and has no control over it.|TV is Roku. We wanted to watch college football, and could not get the major network channels. We finally used my ipad, and I subscribed to fubo.|The lighting is terrible...two bedside lamps and one over the table - that is it.||Why 2 stars? The staff, especially Sierra, is wonderful. |The location is great. We love to walk as much as we can when we travel. The Doyle is close to the Downtown Mall.|You can tell that this used to be a great hotel. It needs help, and digital check-in is not the answer.

I found this hotel to be great. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. My family and I arrived there late (midnight) on a Tuesday. When we got there I was very impressed with how clean and beautiful the place was. Despite the late arrival I found a conceriege at the desk who was so accommodating and friendly. The virtual check in process was so easy. Our room was meticulously clean and very bright. The beds were very comfortable. The parking although not directly at the hotel itself was very easy to locate and park. The virtual assistant helped make our stay effortless. Any time I had a question I received a message within the hour. Finally its location is ideal and closer to the UVA campus. Best of all it was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this hotel.

Google
This is the first review I’ve ever written, which speaks to how surprising this experience was. Our first room had a broken bathroom door—not ideal, but manageable. I was even willing to overlook the two empty champagne bottles left behind by the previous guest. However, the second room was a bigger issue: the sheets hadn’t been changed, and there was noticeable hair throughout the bed. I understand that a perfect clean is tough to achieve, but fresh sheets should be a given at any hotel. When I brought it up, they provided new sheets—for me to change myself. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I’d recommend looking elsewhere if cleanliness and attention to detail matter to you.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was great! Wonderful location! Enjoyed a snack and drink at the rooftop bar and it was nice! Great service and coffee from the little Cafe! Very clean and the staff was lovely! Great Valet service! Not the least bit impressed with the hands off approach to checking in! Took forever, our link wasn't working, front desk had to make a phone call for help, and I even had to upload my own photo of my ID. I won't lessen my stars because of the inconvenience of this because we had a great stay, but checking in was a total pain in the butt!

Google
We had our reservations about this newly turned over hotel. We were all (4 of us) pleasantly surprised based on previous reviews. While not a traditional full service hotel , The Doyle afforded us all the amenities we wanted and needed. Also the price can't be beat for the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend.

Google
Blue Suede Hospitality has no idea how to run a hotel!! This place was apparently awesome under prior ownership, now it's a mess. The rooms are fine, not impressive or anything, the bigger issue is general operations. Checking in was quite challenging, communications necessary to check in were never sent. Staff is essentially non-existent, no feelings of hospitality whatsoever. Parking is off-site (and expensive), no staff at the lobby made the process of parking and unloading the car even more challenging. Lastly, house-keeping was extremely intrusive and relentless, knocking on our door several times over an hour before checkout. Summary-- acceptable hotel, no longer as great as it once was, ran by an incompetent company with a poor understanding of hospitality. I wouldn't patronize anything owned by these people again.

Google
The idea here is for a physically lovely hotel to run itself. Interesting idea but... frustrating to say the least. There is no real check-in. IF someone is at the desk when you arrive, you get you a 5 digit code to unlock your room. When I arrived I was given a code, trucked my things upstairs and then became 3rd in a line of guests whose codes did not work and had to be escorted back to their rooms for their codes to be manually reset. Staff told me this happened a lot and they'd begged management to get physical key cards. Next day, I was shocked the room was unmade, bathroom still full of wet towels. Surprise (!) getting someone to make your room has to be booked in advance and costs $50. No one told me. I asked a housekeeper I found to refill the empty soap dispenser; request ignored. Website indicates you can request early check-in on the day prior to arrival - but that request gets you to a call center (Philippines?) with no ability to check on room status - so they just say no. When I got there, my room had been ready all along. The actual room was huge, super well done, as was the lobby. Location was pretty much ideal. The few folks who worked there were (apologetic and) super friendly. Bummer this experiment in zero service, or what they like to call "quirkiness," has gone awry.

Yelp
Excellent view for drinks & snacks with friends. We went on a bachelorette party and it worked for our first stop. However the service was very slow. The margarita pizza had a spicy kick to it but I liked that it was different.

Graysen V.

Yelp
I've only been to the rooftop and dining up there, but service was always friendly (if sometimes a tad slow). But the view is gorgeous, the food delicious, and drinks yummy (although some of my friends find them a little pricey for the area).

Yelp
LOCATION. PARKING. COMFORT. TRENDY. I stayed out here for work near UVA. the hotel was extremely comfortable and felt safe. Beds are comfortable and you can cast streaming apps to the TV. The hotel is beautifully designed and clean. There are also different food options at the hotel and in the surrounding area. Quirk cafe is connected for breakfast and lunch, or a coffee to go. It is a decent price for the location and comfort. Parking is a little difficult, but I was able to park on the street near the hotel during my stay. Valet parking is also provided during certain hours for a fee. I will be staying here again if I am in the area.

Yelp
Oh, was this place wonderful! My friend and I went on my birthday to have some cocktails and appetizers. We didn't make reservations and went on a Thursday at dinner time during graduation weekend and still got a nice table outside! You enter through the hotel and take the elevators up to the 5th floor where you can find Quirk Rooftop bar. They have a full menu including salads, pizzas, desserts and appetizers along with fun cocktails, beer and wine. Their cocktails are pricey but no more than other nice spots with talented bartenders. Service was too notch! What a view and the rooftop seating options wrap all the way around the building. There's also space to have a private party on the rooftop too. My friend had the picante pizza and she loved it, spicy!

Yelp
Nice place to sit for a drink. Outdoor and indoor patio seating. Pretty difficult to get service though with no one at the host stand and the server only coming by once in a while.

Kate B.

Yelp
The stars are for staff, who were unfailingly helpful, even when there were multiple issues with our room: the room was 64º when we arrived, and three hours after turning off the AC, it was still 67º. No heating option was available - hopefully they'll fix that bug by autumn. No operable windows, so we finally ordered a space heater from Instacart to get our room up to 72º. Conversely, the first refrigeratorette was set to salmonella degrees, and the replacement wasn't much colder. Drinks were cool enough, but leftovers turned lethal. The electric window shade did not work, turning our room into a display venue for Main Street. The TV reception was variable, cutting out randomly and for hours at a time. Although room cleaning is included, our room was never cleaned unless and until we spoke to the front desk, a couple of times after 6:30 pm. The public areas were kept spotless, though, and the housekeeping staff were efficient and effective, when they were finally directed to our room. The emphasis the Quirk puts on style they should instead refocus on infrastructure, upkeep, and doubling the staff salaries.

Yelp
Not sure about these negative reviews. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and the staff is kind. They have a cafe, rooftop bar, and restaurant. The rooms are simple but aesthetic and the beds are cozy! I'd definitely stay here again

Yelp
I stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hotel is beautifully decorated and a perfect spot to access great restaurants nearby. There is also a restaurant inside the hotel that is worth dinning at for dinner. They also have a cafe next door that you can grab some breakfast or lunch. They have a cute gift shop where you can pick up something for yourself or a friend/family. It's definitely a great place for a quick weekend getaway.

Yelp
I stopped by Quirk during my tour of the new Charlottesville spaces/restaurants. I was mainly going in to share pictures of the hotel and amenities available. As I did not stay at Quirk Hotel, I cannot comment on service or prices. Although, I looked at prices online and comparatively they are more expensive than other hotel locations nearby. The hotel itself was beautiful and the adjacent cafe makes me want to sit in there and sip coffee and do work all day. They also had a store in the lobby (pricey) that had very cute items (similar to what a Paper Source would carry). I've attached pictures for your reference.

Yelp
Stayed at the Quirk again. Thought second time would be different, but another bad experience. Called the front desk because the blackout shade in my room wouldn't close, and they were not kind. Wouldn't move me, so I tried to get to sleep. A half-hour later, the shade literally fell out of the window onto the floor. Cue a scramble at 3~AM to get another room.

Yelp
This is a review for the Quirk rooftop lounge. Decorations and aesthetic are 10/10. This place is super chic and perfect for photos. Drink: 2/10 - the king's smash was not great at all, which was sad since it was $12. My friend got the pink breeze which was better, but only a 3/10. Free birthday Dessert: 7/10 - The Panna Cotta was very sweet. I've had it in France before, and this was definitely different. The fruit really helps balance out the sweetness.

Yelp
This is a review of the Rooftop Bar and Restaurant. This place is a totally hidden gem in Cville. Very cool aesthetic. The views all the way around the rooftop bar are really nice with multiple seating areas and really great views on every side. The star of the show however was the food. This chef is on his game. The hummus and meatballs were fantastic. The burrata with pesto and homemade jam were spectacular and the Picante Pizza was spicy, savory and the crust was perfect. This is a great spot for a drink or casual dinner with a unique vibe for C'ville

Yelp
We had some positives and negatives at The Quirk. First, the only negative. My wife and I checked in and were told about a happy hour that is from four to six, the happy hour is also on the website. So, today February 7th, 2023 we walked down to the lobby bar at 430 and asked about happy hour. The bartender, who took 5 minutes to greet us said there is not a happy hour while texting on his phone. I responded with the front desk said there is one from four to six. The bartender then proceeded to tell us that they lied there has never been a happy hour... Seems like a major problem. I asked for a manager the bartender said he talked to the manager and that the happy hour that is on the website will not be honored. I talked to the front desk and they said there is a happy hour and we should just ask for the prices. We asked the bartender again and were told we could go somewhere else if wed like even after showing him the website and having the front desk come over. So we went to another bar for happy hour. My question is who was the manager on duty Feb 7th 2023 at 4 pm? Second question why have it on your website, push at check in and text out the happy hour if is is not a thing?!?! The rooms were amazing, the front desk staff was wonderful and house keeping couldn't have been better. The bartender is the sole reason ill never be back.

Yelp
It didn't start on the best foot. The managers denied me using a award night claiming all the rooms for award nights were used up. I went back and forth for three weeks before Hyatt customer service said they could do it... and then the hotel was fully booked up. Arrived at the hotel. The entrance is beautiful staff seemed friendly. The mask requirements do not seem to be followed, although I understand the hotel doesn't want to annoy everyone, when it seems other businesses are not enforcing it. The hotel rooms are pretty, with pink, white, and brass being prominent. Nothing seemed to fancy. The emphasis on modern art is a bit amusing, because none of the art seemed impressive (and I'm a big art appreciator in general). The ambiance in the restaurants and bar looked nice. Ugh, so the room was 67 degrees when we arrived. I don't know who keeps their home at that temperature, but it isn't me. I tried to raise the temperature with little progress. I asked them to help me. Maintenance came relatively quickly. He was there 10 minutes and couldn't figure it out. He said he would try the central system. Nothing happened. I now have a cold after two nights there. (It is partially my fault for not having pajamas, but usually a thermostat would work in a Hyatt category four hotel).

Yelp
Cute boutique hotel in a great location need the main drag. Great decor and gorgeous rooftop bar. Custom linens. Few amenities during COVID (no water in the room, room cleaning only on request, gym hours limited and must be pre-booked). Valet or self parking. Onsite restaurants and breakfast.

Cortney Q.

Yelp
Stopped by for a drink on the rooftop. It was just past 9pm and the concept downstairs was already closed? Took the elevator to the rooftop and saw a sign mentioning they were closing soon as well. When we looked around the corner it was just a bunch of staff hanging out. We left and were completely confused.....

Yelp
Loving my 3 night stay at The Quirk- CVILLE... Clever and unique...Have barely left the property as they have it all covered-The Pink Grouse Restaurant, Coffee Shop, Super cool Bourbon Tasting Room, rooftop bar and the lounge bar was on fire last night when I had a night cap...I was able to meet the owners who took their personal time talking with me and take great pride in making the experience special....I even saw them give up their seats to an older couple when the bar was full... Double thumbs up!

Yelp
Quirky for sure. The hotel is fine but the service is horrible. It seems that everyone is working their first day on the job with no guidance (maybe they are). They oddly prefer not to tell you things verbally and prefer to text you messages about the hotel. Employees do not seem to know much about their place of employment, such as the time the restaurant opens for breakfast, how to get room service (they don't have any), and how to have your room cleaned. It is all a quirky mystery. The hotel is clean, the people are nice (if a touch nonverbal) and the food in the restaurant is not overpriced (but also not great).

Katherine W.

Yelp
Such a cute hotel!!! Will definitely stay here again! Nice rooftop bar. Cute coffee shop & restaurant. Our new favorite.

Kim C.

Yelp
My husband and I have visited Charlottesville several times and have stayed in numerous hotels, but the Quirk Is THE BEST ! The ivy art exhibit in the main lobby is magnificent, please take the time to view the work. Secondly, I love the modern, minimalist aesthetic of the hotel. Decor is simple, but sophisticated. Our room was perfect. You will get the best sleep of your life at the Quirk. I have never stayed at a hotel with electric room darkening blinds, but I'll never go back. The room was spacious for us, but more importantly, for our dog. She was the biggest fan of the Quirk and she won't let us go to Charlottesville anymore without taking her and staying at the Quirk. Thank you to the staff for their warm welcoming hospitality
google avatar

Bri J.

Yelp
I didn't stay at the actual hotel, but the rooftop bar is accessible even if you're not a hotel guest. And it was BEAUTIFUL up there. We had pre-dinner cocktails. The sun was shining, the chairs were comfortable and the views were lovely. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Michaela P.

Yelp
This hotel lives up to its name - quirky! My husband and I booked a weekend for our wedding anniversary and we loved the location as everything was walking distance. Cool rooftop bar but drinks are just ok and was quite disappointed that there weren't any heat lamps as the fire pits are very limited. Lobby bar was better. Staff were friendly so would come again but will bring our own pillows :) too soft for us!

Mollie G.

Yelp
Loved my stay at the Quirk last weekend. I'm a Charlottesville native but wanted to do a staycation with my sister. Its boutique-y without feeling kitschy or tacky and has the elegance of a higher end hotel chain (it is a Hyatt I believe) but uniqueness of a boutique hotel. It's adorable and has multiple spots you can tuck away and get a drink, snack, or just hang. Restaurant was yummy and super accommodating to my party's *multiple* food allergies (truly an amazing feat). As for customer service - this was also excellent and I've never in my life said thst about a hotel. We had a misunderstanding at booking about a roll away bed and Joan from quirk more than made up for it - really really appreciate her. She that made me feel valued and not just a rando guest. We loved everything about our stay - highly recommend if you are looking for a cute boutique hotel experience.

Rufus A.

Yelp
The rooftop is a dog friendly hotel bar with great views of C'ville. Grown up selection with grown up prices. The pizzas/flatbread are impressively good, but you may want to order two if you're hungry.

Mallory B.

Yelp
We recently spent a weekend at Quirk Hotel Charlottesville and I cannot speak highly enough about our experience. The hotel has been beautifully and thoughtfully designed, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the on-site amenities such as the restaurant, rooftop bar and cafe make it so that once you arrive onsite, you never have to leave. We cannot wait to return.

Yelp
Twanda was our bartender and DID WE LOVE HER!! Not only could she make fantastic cocktails but me and my girlfriends felt like we had known her forever!! Absolutely LOVE HER!!

Yelp
If you are looking for a venture with a loved one Chick-Fil-A might be a better option. after initial excitement we got seated relatively quickly and got a drink and ordered an app. 45 minutes later the only person to come in Our path was the manager but that was 30 minutes prior. We had no water fill ups And never saw our waitress. After about an hour we got our apps And enjoyed that but still had to wait another 20 minutes to actually place our dinner meal after asking for our waitress. Being as polite as possible, after waiting for over an hour, we got our meals ordered. After another hour of waiting we finally had our food. None to my surprise a disappointment. I ordered a burger which actually was descent however it was the side that perturbed me. In brilliant fashion they placed a bag of sunchips on my plate. No where in my life have a gone to a restaurant, ordered a meal and gotten a bag of chips. It was at this moment that the compelling decision to either fill our bellies or leave was made as it was after 10 and we had arrived over 2 hours earlier. We quickly agreed to eat and leave because nothing else was open. We then had to seek out the waitress as she had not been back around and got our check. I am thoroughly disappointed all around. First off service was garbage, and the food was mediocre at best. The experience bought us a fat ole $80 loss for dinner and drinks. That doesn't even begin to talk about watered down $13 margaritas over all your restaurant will not be one I come back to. I regret paying full price For your services as I could have paid $40 and gotten quality service, good food, and a better environment. The only Thing you have coming at you is a cold and windy rooftop overlooking the sunset which is far better than anything that you can or will offer.

Ben J.

Yelp
Review for the Rooftop Bar alone The staff here were very kind, and the whole place was well decorated, clean, and pleasing to be in. I purchased the shrimp taco starters and an Old Fashioned to drink. The drink was nice and the tacos tasted good, but overall it was a let down. The tacos were small and there were only two for $12. The Old Fashioned was made well and there was a good whisky selection and ended up costing me $11. Everything was served in cheap feeling plastic cups and plates. For the price and atmosphere I just expected more. In sum: food and drink are fine, but without a doubt not worth the price

Doug C.

Yelp
Pretentious management and slow service. The view is great. The food is great. The management was almost confrontational when pressed with concerns for a large party with a reservation. We drank and ate and made the best of it. But for an experience, the views don't overcome the lack of professionalism to cater to their customers. I recommend finding a place on the ground level that truly wants your business

Alex E.

Yelp
Good design terrible management and not responsive to fixing problems. Avoid. Would not fix plumbing or service room despite repeated requests.

Lori K.

Yelp
We cannot say enough about our quick overnight at The Quirk Hotel, Charlottesville, VA. From check-in to check-out, the staff was attentive, friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and strictly adhered to Covid safety measures. Our rooms were beautiful, extremely clean, quiet and the beds ... could have slept all day! We dined at the Pink Grouse with our daughter who has a gluten allergy. The chefs took the time to meet with her personally and review her dining options which included everything on the menu except two entrees. Our party of four tasted a number of different appetizers and entrees. Each arrived hot, was delicious and well portioned. Servers were on point all evening! Before leaving the next morning, we visited the coffee shop for what turned out to be food and coffee beyond our expectations. My daughter's GF blueberry muffin was so good that she questioned if it was truly GF (it was)! A cinnamon bun to rival any of grandma's recipes and the egg paninis were a great way to start the day. After check out, we walked around C'ville for a bit and even considered checking back in for another night. Needless to say, we will be back!! Thank you Quirk for making our first foray back into normalcy feel comfortable, classy and safe!

Adrian P.

Yelp
pizza was phenomenal. one of the best pizzas i've had here in Charlottesville. drinks and atmosphere were also amazing. our server wasnt the best, seemed like he just put in his two weeks and just didnt care or something

Yelp
For the second time in four days, the rooftop restaurant refuse to honor their burger week advertisement and would not serve us burgers. As we were leaving, we were met by manager Eric, who not only got us our burgers but served us personally. Five stars to manager Eric. He couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. We will return.

Yelp
We've stayed at Quirk hotel in Rva so we are familiar the quirks of this hotel chain (i.e mediocre service, ok rooms/price point ratio, disappointing food). Even so, we decided to stay a night at the new C'ville location- it couldn't be worse than our Rva experience. Well, it was. We stayed in the Loft for our RVa and did the same for our C'ville stay. We called into the Cafe to order a large breakfast and my husband picked up or order. Eager to eat we dug into the food only to discover: 0/2 of our order of bottled waters; 1/2 our order of OJ; 0/1 oatmeal; and 1/0 nice hair curled into our bacon order. How did management handle it? They called my phone (the room phone wasn't working - this goes to the "ok room to price point ratio" issue) to tell us nonsense. Specifically: the cafe folks said we received the oatmeal, they were out of bottled waters though they never shared that bit of info with us at any point, and they don't know about the hairy bacon. So her response was to apologize weakly and refund the items we didn't receive! Quoi? After talking some more she comped us the breakfast that we did receive. It was tasteless bland food anyway. She was service oriented enough to comp us some bottled waters - so we were hydrated. And we did get our booking shifted a day earlier than we had booked it - my error, but great service on their side. Even so, the negatives outweigh the positives for me here. I would recommend that you beware of your food orders when you go here.
